If you are making your control panel underneath your layout, think about every time you add something, you have to crawl underneath your table. Think about putting your control panel facing the outside of the layout and covered with some type of door much easier to do the wiring from the outside than crawling underneath the layout.

So easy to find 16 - 20 gage red and black wire. Everyone should follow some basic electrical safety and use red and black as a standard.
