5 Watts CW, How far can I go???

Use the Reverse Beacon Network (RBN) to see how far your signal is going. Simply call CQ DE [CALLSIGN]. Do it twice in a row and watch the RBN website and watch as computers from around the world spot your signal.
This was my first time using the website. So, I need to learn how to use all the functions. On first glance, it looks like I can search any signal, my own call, and even within a "age" range on how old the spot is.
I very nice tool, If you are wanting to see how that signal is making it out of your new antenna, what a great way to see.

It's crazy how far you can work with 5w on CW. I worked Germany the other day on 5w on 15m from NY. Crazy stuff.

I haven’t tried it yet, but I plan to! Someone said the RBN detects CQ and also TEST.. so if you wanted to you could send TEST DE W4EMB. Just a thought.

Thanks! I found that out later in my journey too. It is a great tool. I use it quite a bit now when I do Parks on the air.

When I was testing out a new QRP rig, and I didn't want to be answered, I just sent TEST TEST TEST DE TESTING RBN. No one answered me, so I must have gotten the message across... ;-) I also got results, so that works.
