The day prior to this Shantel mad a good POTA Activation and passed the key to me. I called for over an hour and a half and only made 5 contacts. It was my 1st official failed activation. I had two other attempts, But I was not trying to make 10.. I just wanted to test my set up.
This video was not started off the same. We had a visitor and lots of questions and discussion so we did not set up the camera and mic until our visitor departed. Then we set it up on the fly while activating...

He sent '/M' at the end, meaning the OP was mobile. (Like sending /P for portable or /QRP for low power). He did mis-key it at the end though which is why we got a little confused :)

Great video.... I did my first POTA CW activation at an ATNO at the same time. I was able to work 3 stations and on the 4th I had sooo much trouble copying that station he gave up sending to me. So the 5th guy I started to doubt my code copying, and I was unable to copy him enough to understand what he was saying. SO I went QRT and switched to SSB. I need to build my confidence more. Sadly getting on the air did the opposite for me. I'll try it again soon.
I am curious to know what speed you were sending? I send at 15wpm. If I do not get a call, I send "?"..... Record your outing and dont give up! I bet if you record it, try a few more CW along with your SSB... When you get home, play them back when you do not feel the pressure and I bet you will get them 1st time around... Watch our vids with a pen and paper... Write what you get.. draw a "__" for any letters you miss. W4E__B ... Then when we do the subtitles, fill in the answer with the power of the pause button... Keep it up! When it falls in to place it will turn your hobby around! ~Ed W4EMB
