      The spasms you see aren't death throes. The squirrel is already dead. What you see is the energy stored in the corpse's muscles discharging. "Helicopter tail" is the sign of a good clean kill.
      Also, these squirrels are cannibalistic, but half the time they attack a dead mate it's either an attempt to start a mating ritual, or territorial aggression.

    So, I'll avoid going into detail to avoid bruising anyone's delicate sensibilities :) but on the version on the web site... I was not expecting that live squirrel towards the end (the unharmed one) to do what it did to the now deceased squirrels. I'd expect that from a mouse or a rat, but never imagined that squirrels would eat another squirrel. (Or at least appear to)

    • @ambulocetusnatans

      Yea, that happens. We had to get squirrels out of a house once, and one of the dead squirrels froze right in the hole. The other squirrel chewed a hole right through his body to get out. I'm pretty sure he didn't just spit it out.

      Squirrels are known to prance around near birds and simply act harmless and then strike days or even weeks later and kill and devour even quite large birds like seagull and geese. Very dangerous and aggressive animals if you are under 10lbs and aren’t an active predator yourself. They also habitually dine on carrion and are often cannibalistic. Skugs.

    I live in the U.S. I tried to buy the A18 but was not allowed to purchase it. I tried to order it from the U.K. website, and was not allowed to purchase it. I finally ordered it from the U.K. website and had it shipped to my son in the U.K., who was not allowed to ship it to me because of the CO2 cartridges (under pressure) and bait (organic material).
    The only way I could get it was to have my son carry it from the U.K. on his last trip to the U.S.
    Not a good buy, as of 2021.

    Squirrels keep chewing through my trash bins to get at the garbage bags. I like to let them be, but they do destroy your property. I live in a townhouse community. My neighbor had squirrels in the walls of their house. We discovered they chewed a hole right below the roof in the rear side of the house. It was an expensive job to get them removed and repair the damage. I've been concerned my house may be next. The A18 may be a viable solution for me to prevent future damage. Thanks for showcasing this one, Shawn.

    Yeah, squirrels are a nucense here, they get on our bird feeder normally, usually the chipmunks we worry about digging in the garden. I usually mix red pepper flakes and seeds to keep the squirrels off the feeder cuz i don't want to kill them. Birds love the pepper but squirrels hate it (you have to use hot peppers). Chipmunks we haven't really dealed with yet, but aye that's what they do.

    I tried this trap and I would caution viewers that while ground squirrels are very similar in appearance to eastern gray squirrels they are different in behavior. I had some eastern gray squirrels that were tearing up my house and they would not stick their head inside the trap. They would eat the peanut butter just below the mouth of the trap but would not venture to put their head inside to get the peanut butter, peanuts, and sunflower seeds inside the bait station. They go crazy for that combination so I know they want it. Their little tails will go crazy because they want it so bad but they wouldn't put their head inside. It's a shame because I really wanted the trap to work. The Automatic Trap Company was awesome though and they have a 30 day money back guarantee so they refunded me when I sent it back. I ended up buying a Forestry Suppliers (Rust-Resistant) Tube Trap and that worked fantastic with a little peanut butter smeared above the trigger pan. I got all the squirrels right before Shawn ended up reviewing it on this channel. Both traps are great so if you try the A18 / A24 and it doesn't work then definitely give the Tube Trap a try.

    • @markfryer9880
      @markfryer9880 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1
