  • Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is one of the best games of all time and one of the most sold Playstation Exclusive ever. So in this video, we will go down memory lane and remember why Uncharted 4 is even until this day, still considered a Masterpiece 5 years after it's release. Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is the perfect conclusion to Nathan Drake and Elena's story in this franchise and Naughty Dog truly worked their magic once again with this game and the story. The game was beautifully directed by Bruce Straley and Neil Druckmann and focused on our beloved characters like Nathan Drake, Elena, Sam, Sully more than the story itself, which made the game feel more personal compared to the first 3 Uncharted games.
Hopefully in this video, we can touch on the moments this game made us experience that made a good chunk of people that played this game, consider it to be one of the best games ever made and a true masterpiece.

For being a masterpiece it's too formulaic, like many other open world games (looking at you Ubisoft). TLOU 2 on the other hand has a divisive story but beyond that its world design, the memorable characters, the flawless combat and the overall experience make it a truly outstanding game with an - at least - dareful story. I'd even go so far to say BECAUSE of its story and some unpopular plot decisions it accomplished something no other game has done before.

That person said they didn't like depressing stories, not that they didn't want to play games with a story. a
nd no, they don't have to blindly consume any story the developers wanted to tell, or agree with their choices, they can choose to enjoy whatever they want. Just because they did not enjoy your mediocre revenge tale does not mean they don't enjoy stories altogether, keep THAT in your mind, and turn the snob down a notch.
Also, what a sad thing it is to hear that you believe stories in games have only been relevant as of 2021 because of the last of us 2. You should play more games. What has TLOU2 achieved to be lauded as a milestone in video game storytelling anyway? Many games have much better narratives and tackle much more complex and philosophical themes that make your head spin. Games like Nier:Automata, Soma, Amnesia, undertale, Bioshock, metal gear solid, dark souls have much better narratives. Nier and soma are exceptionally brilliant in that they tackle very complex themes (Actually complex, not revenge bad and I feel bad for killing dog) about what makes us human.

This game holds the most special place in my heart and it simply remains my favourite game of all time. The one aspect of games that I focus on above anything else is story and this is what made me love Uncharted 4, the story was perfect for me, yes it had some flaws but the writing especially for the relationship between Nate and Elena was flawless and that to me was near perfect and hit even closer to my heart due to the simple fact that I grew up with Uncharted games and with Nate and Elena so seeing their relationship blossom and finally culminate to a perfect close hit me hard because I felt like I was THERE and not just watching this behind a screen. Another thing was chapter 11 of this game was the best chapter in gaming I have EVER played. The scene was beautiful, the clock tower puzzle was extremely entertaining and learning about the secrets of the pirate history that lay beneath the tower was beautiful. Not to mention the action sequence that follows was the most euphoria I’ve ever got from a game before and in the end again, tied back to Nate and Elena’s relationship. Stunning and complete hats off to naughty dog cause they damn well perfected it

I love this game so much.
And what really cemented this story for me was the scene where Nate and Elena were at the pirate's table.
The look that Elena has and gives Nate while he is discussing what has happened...it is both heartbreaking and amazing.
You truly see how much she loves Nate as well as the subtle yet not so subtle realization that this is what they both enjoy and live for other than the love she has for him.
This...this moment and many like it are what makes Uncharted so amazing as not just a game, but a piece of truly deep and amazingly human media. In my opinion, there have been very few stories and characters that have grabbed me and really pulled at so many emotions and memories.
It doesn't hurt that at the time I was struggling with my own career and failing marriage(which didn't last like Nate & Elena's marriage), but it is something that is truly amazing. It's hard to convey to so many people I know, yet once they experience these games/stories and have been in similar situations....they are truly hard to ignore just how deep and superbly awe-inspiring the medium of gaming truly is and can be.
You've done an amazing job here, sir and this series and several like it will always have a special place in my heart and life.

(Lmaooo) No it's not. It's an objectively proven fact that it's not a masterpiece. Non of the games ever were that great. They're fun, yes but full of clunky mechanics. The story never was all that amazing as well. It's definitely not bad at all by any means but you people give it more credit than it deserves. This example proves this: Red Dead Redemption 2 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt are in a league of their own in comparison in gameplay, world design and story.

Uncharted 4 was a masterpiece because they didn’t try to unnecessarily kill off characters and spend way more time polishing gameplay to perfection while just leaving the story half baked and polarizing like The Last of Us 2 did. Uncharted gave some fan service, heightened the stakes of the story and gave some awesome cinematic sequences, and the characters were so memorable. It brought everything to a close in the most perfect way possible and the gameplay and combat was the best it’s ever been. Oh and it was visually breathtaking with outstanding voice acting. It was just a solid 10/10
It’s not like “oh you guys remember that one NPC Drake shot (Ramsay) in Uncharted 3. His son was on that ship wreck and he’s out for the treasure and Nate’s head. If Uncharted 3 was about love, the past and family, Uncharted 4 is about hatred, the present, and revenge. Spend half the game playing as Ramsay the Pirate’s son in Yemen and learn to love his character.” And we’re supposed to eat it up like it’s masterful nuanced storytelling. People act way too pretentious defending TLOU2

All those scenes that were acted out in a very normal way.. (also the part where they had a bet on who'se gonna do the dishes over crash bandicoot).. These scenes work twice as much when you know the history of their relationship.. I am one of the million people who are very thankful of experiencing this masterpiece. :)

IGN have this game a 9 coz that phase with Nate and Elena was apparently so slow. But the character development in that part rlly shines for me. If anything it’s the MOST important part of the story narratively and a bridge to the final act that’s emotionally complex. IGN don’t know how to review a game sometimes

This game is a masterpiece because, even tho Nathan is very childish, this games writing is very adult, realistic and beautiful.
I felt so connected to these characters because they felt so.. real. The moment when Elena found out what Nathan is really doing. This calm ride through the jungle with Elena and this beautiful music. These were unforgettable Moments, that are stuck in my brain till now. And I will probably never forget them.
The characters, the story, the atmosphere.. Everything is so well made and beautiful.

Two years ago, a friend of mine borrowed his PS4 console along with a few games: the first three games in the Uncharted series and God of War (2018). Having limited time to play, I checked on the internet which games are the best in the series and I played only the second one, while the others I watched on TH-cam. Uncharted 4 and Legacy of Thieves I bought myself. A Thive's End is one of the best games, from all points of view, ever made. The emotions, the excitement it gave me; the way I connected with the story and the characters' feelings and development. Unbelievable.

I went to Xbox two years ago because I could not get ahold of a PS5. I returned to PlayStation 3 weeks ago because I missed the Uncharted series and Bloodborne so much. I bought uncharted on a whim and I fell in love with the characters. They feel like real people and they change as the story arc progress throughout the games. I think it's a testament to Naughty Dog's craft as game designers and Nolan North's performance as Drake that these games are as popular as ever. If you want an excuse to buy a PS5, these games should be enough

Uncharted 2 will always be the best in terms of pacing, enjoyment and edge of your seat action. The only issue I had with Uncharted 4 was the pacing...apart from that the rest of the game was spectacular. Best story of the series. The writing was excellent. Definitely the most emotional game of the series aswell. Elena and Nate's story was at it's best here. The ending was imo the best ending of any game (standalone or franchise)

I do disagree about character development. I found that there is great character development throughout all the games, with the first having the least amount and being truly just an action adventure game. However the fourth game is more focused on the character than the adventure but it also shows that Nate was not doing what he enjoys and Elena realizing that neither of them were happy with their domicile life but loved each other because of their adventurous side. This is why the 4th game is truly a masterpiece but it also wouldn’t be without the first three games being what they were.

  • @martywittenberg1427

I must say playing this game now on the Playstation 5 after having played all the others as well it is a masterpiece. After 3 games it is the last one that nails everything right. Not that Uncharted 2 was bad..far from it. 1 to 3 each had their hickups. But this game is a true mystery to be unsolved. The Pirate puzzle in the tower stands out for me. It was there i realized Rafe's role in all this. And what do you know..he calls right after you figure it out. I still got it man :).
This is how a true adventure/mystery game should be. It reminded me alot of the Broken Sword games. The platforming is rock solid or at least stable. The battle is excellent. The Ps-5 controllers make it a treat. The visuals are beautifull. A worthy end to a great series. The love shows in every aspect of the game. You can tell this was Naughty Dogs way of saying goodbye to the series and they did not dissapoint the fans in any way. Every Franchise should wish they can end a series as well as they did.
