To be fair, he only takes the lives of those who wish to take his life too. Also security guards, though we dont know if theyre the "shoot on sight" kinda guys.
Yeah, in all fairness, the enemies Drake fights don't hesitate to kill him. He frequently gets put into a "him-or-me" situation where he can't negotiate with them. He initially tried to negotiate with Rafe because he, Nathan and Sam were allies before Rafe was consumed by jealousy. The games acknowledge that Nathan Drake is a terrible person. Most famously in the second game when the villain straight up asks him how many people he killed just that day. Also you could argue him being an anti hero due to actually doing things for the good of the world.
I never realized until just now, but Nate really does only kill dudes who are actively out to kill him first. It really is just a GIGANTIC self-defense case in every instance except in Scotland, where Nate is 100% intruding on Rafe's legally owned land. That said in Scotland, you can also listen in on those same mercenaries you kill talking about assassinations, coups, overthrowing world powers, and a bunch of other heinous shit they have been happily involved in.
I would like to point out that the second game did introduce a better sneak mechanic, but it also liked to put reinforcements in front of the exit points, so sneaking through was rarely an option. I remember trying to sneak through shortly after the train crash segment only to be shot in the back as two heavy shotgun guys spawned while i was trying to leave the area. Taught me that it's just best to leave no survivors.
Bro Indiana Jones kill count is as big as the population of a village yet everyone still accept him as a chill guy, but when it comes to Nathan Drake everyone suddenly turn their faces

He is kinda like classic Lara Croft just going around killing people with a smile on their face and just returning home without consequences I mean sure those guys are the "Bad Guys" still they just do their job maybe they got a family to feed too not that he cares
The thing about Lara Croft is that she was ligitimetly portrayed as a psychopath. The game embraced its 'badass and action for the sake of it' and that is what's make it good, the thing that bother me is how Nathan refuses to murder Lazarevic, Nadine and Race while he had 0 problems committing mass murder on soldiers or mercenaries that were just doing their job.
@@quentinhirschfeld9382 Yeah that is a issue I often see in games and movies these days you can't bring yourself to kill the big bad like the emperor in star wars but all those who work under them yeah sure slaughter them makes no difference if they have no names Proably the same mindset Dictator's use now where I think about it yeah Lara Croft is a Dictator maybe I should become the next MatPat instead

Well, to be fair... He didn't start aout trying to be a hero in the first place and there were many instances where he didn't want to be a hero or villain - he just wanted to live a normal life. He only became a hero against his better judgement at times. His main course of action was treasure that people wanted to kill him over and to stop them from possibly bringing the world to an end, they had to be killed. Might be the worse good guy in some people's eyes, but he's a good guy nonetheless. Besides, if he doesn't have to kill, he won't. Like back at the museum when he didn't want to kill those "innocent museum security guards" as he called them. Either way, him being able to kill entire armies mostly by himself is a pretty impressive feat cause most times it's 1 million vs 1 the numbers usually win. Not with Nathan. Nathan is the legit one-man army with better climbing and jumping skills than Mario. Almost like Batman who also has a lot of kills that no one really talks about.
He’s flawed but he is a good man. That’s what I love about his character. At least he isn’t apathetic about it. He also doesn’t kill innocents so that’s good
I’m only 1:46 in but Nate’s Mother sure she dies of an “illness” but I hope it’s mentioned what actually happened to her because it’s super important to Nate’s upbringing. It shows him there’s a reason to fight and never give up.
Indiana Jones at least has the excuse that he's killing nazis, mad cultists or things like that most people Nathan kills are just trying to get paid ;-;
I understand the point of view portrayed in your video but I’d like to remind you that Nathan has indeed ended many lives in the series but under the circumstances he is not a murderer because most of the time the people he kills shoot first and aren’t necessarily good people from Pirates, to Russians serving a Tyrant to everyone else he kills, most of the time Nathan is trying to stop these artifacts and ancient civilizations from getting in the wrong hands, he may take it for himself but in Uncharted 2 he stops lazaravich from getting the power of the chintomani stone
There's a big difference between killing and murdering. He's definitely a killer, but murderer, no. Murder is defined by killing unlawfully. Everyone he killed was literally in self defense.

Good god he is more of a serial killer than Kevin McAllister
This guy is a menace. I’m sure his kill count rivals that of a World War. And he’s still so smug after all of that. Clearly a psychopath.
Nathan drake disrespect will not be tolerated
At least, the people he killed had guns in their hands, making it one mass self-defense case. But, it wouldn't have had happened if he just went home.
Nathan Drake is just Jason Brody but the killing never got to him
when you ask how many men have you killed and realize uncharted is a horror game.
This is awesome, Nathan Drake is a cool video game character, the only game I played so far was the 4th game, but the others sound interesting
Oh man, all four main games are fantastic. The first one is probably the "worst" since the series really found its footing with 2, which has some of the best pacing in any game out there. Lost Legacy is definitely worth playing too!
Play 1-3. 1 is kinda dated but 2 and 3 are amazing
@@Lifetime10154you gotta play 4 man. I my opinion even better than 2.
@@ThatDude808 I have already played 4. I don’t like the slower gameplay and the beginning of it. It’s great though. 2 is better personally for me
@@Lifetime10154 fair argument i can understand that. Its funny how i instead really like the beginning 🤣
Nathan Drake proves that Ludonarrative dissonance should be part of the Geneva Convention.
😂
Nathan drake has got to be the most prolific serial killer in history
Yes it I'd talked about. In the second game when drake is arguing with the main antagonist it get brought up. However drake is only killing people who are trying to kill him which makes it self defense instead of murder
To quote Caddicarus about Uncharted:
"It's basically like Indiana Jones BUT WITH MORE MURDER."
🤣
@12:50 missed opportunity to allow Guerrero to tell Nate they're (him and Nate) not so much different then even asks Mate how many people he's killed just that day alone.
People calling him a mass murderer while they call arthur morgan a good man is just hilarious
Arthur Morgan is most definitely not a good person lol only once he's faced with his death does he take steps to improve the lives of others
Arthur Morgan is a good man. He does bad things but his good acts far out way his bad acts and even if they didn’t the amount of good or bad deeds tallied up doesn’t determine whether your a good person or not
@XtraOrdinar-yhe’s not a good man lol
@@strongcapybara5646 how is saving literally hundreds of people make you a bad man, is it because he killed some o’driscolls or Pinkertons?
And then at the end of 4 he kind of becomes those companies he was killing in the previous games
How so?
A small detail that many overlooked is that Talbot's briefcase full of cash was more than likely genuine. With Marlowe's seemingly bottomless budget, a briefcase full of cash would be a drop of water in the ocean. Sully rejecting the cash was merely a bluff.
He is just defending himself
It's not self defense because Drake could literally walk away instead of purposefully putting himself in a situation where he has to kill.
@@lucasgrey9794 if he walk away they just going to kill him
no one forced drake to go after treasure and get in the way of factions with weapons
@@internetguy7319Drake is a thief but he cares about discovering the history. All the bad guys he killed only cared about making themselves more powerful.
@@petermj1098Lazarevic literally wanted to be Hitler 2.0 with the power found in Shambala. Drake HAD to stop him. Lazarevic was a ruthless war criminal who was hunted by the government and barely escaped and doesn't hesitate to murder Innocents, notably Jeff, who was already wounded and posed no threat.
Man the Uncharted 4 ost is so good
Just remember…there’s a PlayStation trophy for killing 1000 people in Uncharted 4.
Uncharted 4 should be a movie
He’s flawed but he is a good man. That’s what I love about his character. At least he isn’t apathetic about it. He also doesn’t kill innocents so that’s good
24:27 Holy shit, for years I thought Nate killed that security guard.
I’m only 1:46 in but Nate’s Mother sure she dies of an “illness” but I hope it’s mentioned what actually happened to her because it’s super important to Nate’s upbringing. It shows him there’s a reason to fight and never give up.
she committed suicide
I need that segment from Metal Gear Solid 3 where you have to confront the spirits of all the lives you’ve taken but for Nathan.
That would be wild 😂
0:00 i thought they were doing something else for a second
😏
9:12 he says 2 kills but on the right hand corner it says that he survived 15 kills without dying
That game opens with a flash forward so there's a few kills that happen before it jumps back
Oh ok still a great video though
2:30 that right there was a violation 😂
👵
As is lara croft, ellie, joel, etc.
they keep murdering people every game.
Yeah, but it came back to bite Joel in the butt, didn't it?
That tone in the background.. Makes it hard to sleep listening to the story. Haha
I like to think that Nate didn't miss the adventure in the 4th game but the murders
Nate just has that thirst in him
Dude you are a g, that Kadarius Toney line at 16:48 was so unexpected XD
fr i was dying lmfao
Not murder, it's self defense
By murdering…
Keep tellin yourself that
@@lanceelopezz223 so you mean telling myself the truth? Ok!
@@deanjames108a lot of the fire fights are initiated by the enemies so yea sometimes it would be self defense
@@deanjames108 murder is premeditated, not self defense.
I remember seeing this guy on all the covers for the ps4 boxes when my dad went out to buy it, Good times.
So is Mario, Link, and every video game protagonist ever.
Indiana Jones at least has the excuse that he's killing nazis, mad cultists or things like that
most people Nathan kills are just trying to get paid ;-;
"Most ancient artefact if all" lmfaoo
1:57 nice South Park reference
I know it wasn’t the main focus of the game, but for Nate to not have some sort of PTSD regardless of most of his kills from self defense is crazy.
Dude was so happy to tell his daughter about their crazy adventures too lol
The freaking aaaaaaaaah sound bite lol
It’s no wonder that Nate was regarded as a fucking legend. 😂😂
I've never thought of him as a good guy. At best he's an anti hero
Luck is his superpower
16:47 that joke is BRUTAL if you watch the nfl u know
