    Just a foot note. Upgraded to Gen 3. Ordered two roofs mounts , not knowing which one we were going to use.
    However upon trying to return the roof mount I did not use ( box never opened ) had a heck of time trying to get support to issue a return label and credit. They issued credit and then informed me to keep the roof mount that I did not use.

    Within 1 week from ordering (in the USA), both the ballast and mount frame arrived. Advertised 50 MPH wind rating per Starlink. Installed easily; nice to not drill anything into the roof. Beast of a mount.

    We could not find anyone licensed and bonded to climb our roof to attach the fascia mount. You don't want random people climbing, falling then suing you. We can not climb being business owners, if my partner falls, our business will need to shut down so after trying to find someone qualified (twice we posted, nobody cared to come, we live in a rural area), we exchanged it for this mount. Glad we did it and since it rains and blows wind where we live with 4 seasons, drilling holes is not what we want to do to not cause major issues. So glad they created this.

      In my case I would have to haul a ladder up to the less steep roof and then place this ladder on the steep part - then hooking over the roof ridge. The device has 2 wheels built into it to roll the ladder up the steep part before hooking it over the ridge.

    Will this work on houses that have metal roofs with a ridge cap on this model? or are those of us with ridge caps still left to fabricate our own mounts?

    • @StarlinkHardware
      @StarlinkHardware  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would say as long as the height difference is within about 4-5 inches it will be ok. If the cap is higher than that, the legs of the mount won't lay flat enough to be secure. I'm sure it would be fine that way, but the legs are intended to lay pretty flat against the roof surface.

    Hi ,
    Since you reviewed the mounts for the two generations of the dish, do you think this mount for the gen 3 dish is compatible with the second generation dish?
    In my location this mount for the second generation dish was available but it disappeared from the store and now it is only available for the 3 generation.
    I asked customer service and they said it was compatible with the 2 generation.
    You who have reviewed the two versions of the mount, do you think I can use this version with my 2nd gen dish?

    • @StarlinkHardware
      @StarlinkHardware  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Mounts are not compatible between Gen 2 and Gen 3, so a Gen 3 Ridgeline Mount will not work with a Gen 2 dish. The Gen 2 and Gen 3 are different in how they lock into the Ridgeline mount.

    • @luisdiego0214
      @luisdiego0214 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@StarlinkHardware Yeah that's what I thought, I opened a ticket explaining this whole thing and they kept telling me it works for the motorized gen 2 dish which is the one I got, so I'm afraid it won't work and I'll have to return it, since the shipping and return process here in Costa Rica is very tedious.
      Can you check in the store if the Ridgeline mount for gen 2 is available for you? It is just weird that the gen 3 accessories are available here in Costa Rica and we can only buy the gen 2 dish. Btw the cost of the gen 3 Ridgeline mount in Costa Rica is less than $50 which is insane compared to $250 in the US.

    Can you lay the dish flat pointing straight up to avoid obstructions or does it need to be tilted?

    • @StarlinkHardware
      @StarlinkHardware  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It will work pointed straight up, but that won't necessarily solve the obstruction issue. Each dish can only talk to certain satellites. Obstructions are obstructions because the view of the scheduled satellite is blocked in that area of the sky. Pointing it straight up doesn't change which satellite your dish is assigned to use, so you would still likely have outages if you have trees nearby.

    • @jessepeggy
      @jessepeggy 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The tilt may need to be adjusted up or down by follow the guide of the alignment menu on Starlink app, same for turn the dish around to match the guide of the direction on Starlink app’s alignment menu.

    I live in France, and am interested in Starlink. Because I live in a rented property, this mounting system appears to be the best for my purposes.
    I have yet to purchase Starlink, and don't want to if this and other accessories are not available here. It seems that you have to have an account, before you can access the shop for the various accessory components.
