    Well done! I don't know why I missed out on this EcoBoost with HPP when it first came out. I guess it was really due to V8 bias but honestly, the more I learn about this Mustang EcoBoost with the HPP the more impressed I am especially with that handling package and the fact Ford offers this in a 6 speed manual is the icing on the cake. I enjoy driving and not constant visits to the pump so this Mustang with 330+ horsepower, RWD, 6-speed manual, active exhaust and great MPGs is really getting my attention. Thanks and again well done!

    • @CarsWithSteve
      @CarsWithSteve  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! The V8 is a great option but the EcoBoost is surprising. The performance when I was behind the wheel was actually really good, I found it handled well and had some good pep.
      If you went the EcoBoost route I'd say look at a Stage 1 tune to boost the HP by almost 50 points!

    I have one.Traded a 2018 GT for it and glad. Do not get this car without the handling pack, its amazing. Best handling car I ever had. This wont out drag a V8, but around town the turbos instant torque is super fun to drive.

    • @CarsWithSteve
      @CarsWithSteve  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Completely agree on the handling pack. That magneride system makes this thing handle so well! The improved performance in the HPP is great. Are you looking at doing anything after market? ECU flash?

    Awesome content! As far as aftermarket upgrades for this car, what would you recommend?

    • @CarsWithSteve
      @CarsWithSteve  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Appreciate that! For upgrades, that depends on what you want to do with it. For better acceleration you could look at swapping to a 3.73 axle ratio, especially if you're going to put it on the track. A stage 1, 2 or 3 ECU flash would be a good way to get a 20 - 60hp boost out of the car as well!

  • @nerychristian

    Should I get the one that's called the Eco Boost performance package? Or the one called 2.3L high performance package?

    • @CarsWithSteve
      @CarsWithSteve  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 2023 EcoBoost only has the High Performance Package vs the GT which is the Performance Package. Going to come down to preference and what you're using the car for...
      The HPP gives some great upgrades that would be useful for track handling but if you're never going to track the car you could save the cash and buy some better tires if you want a simple upgrade

    Do you have a miniature camera attached to your sunglasses? lol!! because every time you move your head to look both ways, I'm like, how is he doing that? Hahahaha!!! I like the one Mustang you're driving now. I didn't care too much for the bright green one I watched a while ago. The one you're in now is really powerful. Love it!

    • @CarsWithSteve
      @CarsWithSteve  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha good catch! Wish I could chalk it up to editing magic but the sunglasses do have a built in camera lol. The HPP Mustang is an incredible ride! I have a friend who is about to do 15k of work in his stock EcoBoost (just the regular 2.3L) and it should push out close to 725 HP when it's all done. Have you had a chance to drive one of these yet?

      @@CarsWithSteve I knew, I knew it!! lol!!! I knew there was a miniature camera in those sunglasses somewhere! lol!! Yes indeed it is incredible! Close to 725??!!! What??? Oh my gosh!! You drive that with 725 HP you'll leave a trail of fire behind you! Hahaha!!! And no, I haven't had a chance to drive one yet. But one day our lot attendant was moving vehicles around the lot and taking out the new ones from the showroom to display on the lot, and I just happen to be in one of our mustangs, just looking at everything in it, and all of a sudden he said start it up. I was like......are you serious!!?? :O lol!!! His reply was yes! I was so excited and just, just oh words cannot describe how I felt starting that baby up and driving it outside for him to park it on the lot. Well, after I got it outside he told me to go ahead and drive it around the dealership, again, I was like..........are you serious!!?? :O His reply was yes! I was ecstatic! Hahaha!!! And so sure enough, I drove it around the dealership because we have a big stretch of road behind our dealership, and so I drove it normally, and then it was "purring", and then I got down on it and it roared! lol!!! It sounded so good! And I of course left a trail of fire behind me sort of speak, because I made it roar! Hahahaha!!!! :) This is what I drove;

    Hi there, would you recommend for me to get the normal version ecoboost or the HPP ecoboost?

    • @CarsWithSteve
      @CarsWithSteve  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Guan! It depends on what you value in a car. If you're after more aggressive performance the HPP has some good things about it..
      From a pure performance perspective the larger axle ratio will give you better acceleration, larger radiator will improve engine cooling, and steering is tighter with the sway bar and tuning. Having said that HPP only gives you a 20 horsepower boost.
      But the HPP also gives you active valve exhaust, better summer tires, performance splitter and better brakes. Those pieces alone would cost you more than the HPP costs from the factory.
      If you were to do the HPP in tandem with a factory approved ECU (to make sure you don't void warranty) that would be the perfect combo. An ECU tune that would give you 50 points and would run you a few hundred dollars.

    • @CarsWithSteve
      @CarsWithSteve  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you're in a 2020 it probably wouldn't make sense to take the hit on trading it in.. unless you can find a private buyer or dealership willing to pay top dollar.
      You could do some simple tweaks to your EcoBoost to get it to push out more power though! Look at installing a freer flowing downpipe, cold air intake and a performance intercooler. The 3 pieces installed should only be a few thousand but would give you close to a 100hp boost. An ECU tune is also a good way to add an extra 40 - 100hp!

      @@CarsWithSteve Been talking with Ford Performance tech, they say something is in the works now. I compared some of the dash-plates and build dates of others, if that number is sequential, it looks like they'll only build about 1700 in 2020. With many going to Europe, that doesn't leave much of a market for aftermarket parts, but it does mean the cars will be rare.

    • @CarsWithSteve
      @CarsWithSteve  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could get some of the features but not all... the active valve exhaust can't be installed aftermarket easily or cheaply so I'd scrap that.
      With all the parts.. it would be better to pick and choose what's important to you. The 2016 will be out of the factory warranty so any work won't matter at this point. Here are some things you should consider:
      3.55 TORSEN rear diff
      Strut / K brace
      Aftermarket Gauge Pack (side mounted unless you can find a scrapped EcoBoost with the gauges)
      GT Performance splitter
      Stage 1 ECU tune
      Cold air intake
      Those parts installed will probably run you the same cost as the HPP would be on a new Mustang EcoBoost but will give you more HP/torque than what the HPP would offer

    You would get this car with a focus on extra performance so it's kinda pointless to get an HPP mustang if you are gonna use 87octane - the engine output will be markedly less than advertised and you might as well get just the regular performance pack and save your money. Don't encourage people to use regular gas on that car.

    • @srxshadow
      @srxshadow 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      also you probably want to highlight the weight difference against the GT on the front end... it's a selling point to have much improved handling (esp. for those that don't need 480hp 5.0V8)

    • @CarsWithSteve
      @CarsWithSteve  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks for the feedback. 87 octane is the recommended fuel by the manufacturer for the vehicle. Having said that, I did point out that performance would be improved with 89 or 91 octane. Completely agree that if you're going to upgrade to the HPP that you should absolutely consider strictly using the higher octane fuel.
      I'll look at adding more technical specs to future videos, especially the upcoming comparison ones! Appreciate the input.

    • @E52O4
      @E52O4 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cars with Steve are you sure about the 87 octane recommendation? I own a 2018 ecoboost, and they recommend 91 or 93 octane for optimum performance. 87 octane will work, but it dumbs down the performance enough you can feel it.
      With a stage 1 tune alone, the base ecoboost becomes a very inexpensive canyon carver.

    • @CarsWithSteve
      @CarsWithSteve  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@E52O4 That wording you used is key.. the 91 octane is recommended by enthusiasts for optimum performance whereas Ford recommends 87 as the minimum octane to run it. I'm going to have to come up with a video about octane level vs performance!
      Completely agree that if you start tuning or are considering the HPP you should definitely be using 91 in the car to get the best possible performance

    • @M4B21S88
      @M4B21S88 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cars With Steve well, yes, the car won’t break if you pump 87 octane, the car will pull timing down it doesn’t blow. However, on this platform, the reduction in HP is significant. On the non HPP, it makes 280 hp and only makes 310 on 93 octane. It kinda sucks, but it is what it is...
      If someone is BUYING A PERFORMANCE trim (HIGH PERFORMANCE) it would defeat the purpose of paying extra, at least part of it, since it has other goodies.
