    Watching these commercials makes me miss the 80's even more. Wish things were still like this.

    You can always gather the time of day based on the types of commercial products being advertised. Midday was definitely targeted at the stay at home mothers and perhaps senior citizens. Late afternoon for kids once they returned home from school. Early evenings for dads watching the news. Etc….

      I found watching old commercials came in handy when I was in a graphic design course. 🙂👍🏻

    WABC again - I was going on vacation down the shore in NJ (or was already there) when these commercials were on but where I was I could also get the stations from Philadelphia that blew my mind back in the day.
    But it's been YEARS since I saw that Nabisco Shredded Wheat ad - when I was younger I always wondered where everyone who fell through ended up - dead or in a pit somewhere....

      It's a few years after he left the show... By this point, he'd already done quite a few TV movies, mini-series, and prime time guest roles.

    I really do wish that they made commercials like that today instead of the shit that's on tv today. Lawyers, weight loss, insurance, mobile devices all crap that makes me change the channel every time they come on. I wish I can go just 5 minutes without hearing the words DOT COM.

    • @JJ-wk5wy

      No dot.com would be nice for a bit. I was a kid during the 80's, I remember these types of commercials.

      The commercials didn’t seem as agenda & insane driven as they are today. No, it wasn’t perfect by any means but not as bizarre. Everyone wasn’t trying to be anorexic and mentally disturbed.

    So, commercials in 1988 were apparently all about 1950s nostalgia and itching.

    • @danielshimoda9246
      @danielshimoda9246 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      i remember 50s nostalgia was so popular in the 80s. so many commercials had 50s music and diner themes i always wondered why.

    • @yusakug
      @yusakug 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Same reason why Applebee's is using Britany Spears music in their commercials. Trying to appeal to people who were kids at the time, are now in their 30s, and playing on their memories.

    • @pannoni8449
      @pannoni8449 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Sorry, but I was a teen at the time and HATED Britney Spears when she was popular, and sounded juvenile compared to the relatively mature music of the mid-90s. I even at the time noticed that the late '90s was the end of good music, and it hasn't recovered since. It's no wonder that '80s-heavy classic hits stations are the most popular format today, and even people in their teens/20s enjoy that format today.

    I think the dog in the Meaty Bone (heh) commercial was disappointed because the guy gave him a plastic bone.
    Also, Magic Mushroom sounds like a terrible name for an air freshener, but a great name for an air hallucinogen.
