4:22 - I always associate cruise commercials with the 80s, because they were played so much during the breaks on the Evening News that my family would watch during dinner. Carnival and Royal Caribbean were the two big ones I remember, and they left a large impression on me. I always begged my parents to take us on one, but we never got to go. It was a lifelong dream that finally got fulfilled two years ago when I took my girlfriend on a Caribbean cruise in March of 2018 in order to celebrate her birthday and our dating anniversary (both are 3 days apart from each other). We sailed on the Norwegian Escape, and we both fell in love with the experience. It was the most relaxing vacation we had ever been on. We'll be taking another cruise May 22nd to the 29th. This time, we're sailing to Alaska, and will be on Royal Caribbean's Ovation of the Seas.
Sorry for the lengthy comment, but seeing this cruise commercial stirs up a lot of memories of one of my dream vacation as a kid (the other being Disney World, which we got to do twice as a family), and how seeing this particular commercial brings up both nostalgia, and anticipation for our upcoming trip.

@@bethdibartolomeo2042 Sorry, just now saw your comment here! Yes, we are taking an Eastern Caribbean cruise on the Symphony of the Seas December 11th to the 18th of this year. We'll be visiting different islands than last time.

I can sometimes get a bit tearie eyed remembering some of these commercials but they're still better than some of the junk these days. Keep up the good work.

I really remember watching "The Bad Seed" when is originally aired in '85 (I was 10 so I know it didn't originally air in '88) I never saw it again. They remade it for TV again a couple of years ago I may try to find that version to watch soon!

The Big Red jingle is such an ear warm.
I remember the drought of 1988 (as mentioned in the ABC News brief) and all summer long The Weather Channel had all sorts of stories and special coverage about it.
I do too, we had it rough in Chicagoland, lots of heat and no rain. I was 10 at the time.
When you realize that we are farther from 2000 now than they were when that commercial for EyeExam2000 aired....

And listen to the V/O of Joan Lunden promoting GMA at the Democratic Convention in Atlanta in the end credits "..and we'll talk to Rob Lowe and find out why he's going to that big event." Surely it wasn't to make a sex tape that sabotaged his movie career.
