I don't want to minimize the problems of growing up and having a large part of her career in segregated times, but I would like to change your sentence to "this is what excellence looks like" as her talents had no limiting factor.

It was considered groundbreaking to have an all-Black cast (which included Cab Calloway, Mable King and Morgan Freeman) and made the producer a lot of money. The show didn't close because of Ms. Bailey's health; it ran until 1970.
Correct, technically Hello Dolly wasn't a revival but it was a new re-invented version with an all black cast. Ms. Bailey returned in 1975 for the revival after she recovered from her health troubles. According to my sources, she suffered heart problems for over 3 decades.
