It's already a nightmare driving up and down those narrow streets and hills in SF. It's scary and then you're also maneuvering that massive firetruck while in the rain..... Much respect to the people that live/work in SF. Hope everyone is okay.
This is what happens when first responders don't proceed with caution when approaching intersections. I see it all of the time where they don't even slow in the least. Both fire trucks assumed they have right of way... Hope the drivers will be held responsible.
Here's the underlying issue. In these situations both responding apparatus are responding with warning lights and sirens, so one doesn't hear the other. Also with lights reflecting off adjacent buildings, it's not necessarily clear that what you see reflecting is from an opposing approaching unit. Add the weight and slick roads, and it could be too late to make a correction. That said, as an apparatus driver back in the day, you still have to balance urgency (speed) with due care. A civilian driver not paying attention could be entering the intersection on a green light or a pedestrian hard of hearing could be stepping out into the crosswalk. Ordinarily apparatus responding from the same station would take the same route, but SF has some quirks and the quickest route for an engine could be difficult for a ladder truck. But this intersection is traffic signal controlled so the apparatus going through the red light should have reduced speed sufficiently to stop if anything else was in or approaching the intersection. Unfortunate business.
They should hire only local to drive these fire truck and emergency service vehicles. I have seen fire truck got lost going circle circle circle ...... the problem is hiring ppl dont care and dont know the city doing the jobs
A dude i know did not make the SFFD team when he crashed the fire truck into a pole during training....They say once you do that, you're out! maybe they shoulda hired him anyway.....lol.....
Shows the complete lack of care by fire department personnel. Two fire trucks crash into each other assuming everyone is going to get out of their way? Ridiculous. Take the money needed to replace the two fire trucks and resulting damage from the fire department retirement fund
I See it as A Huge Break for Them because With No Working Truck They Can't go out to Help Others 😄 Firefighters Need a Break, Just like Police and Paramedics 😎 It's the Only Way People Will Learn from Doing Stupid Decisions!!!
They work 24 hour shifts every other day for 3 days and then get 4 straight days off. They get paid while they're sleeping there at the station. Most people would love to have that schedule of 19-20 days Off every month.
They have reserve fire engines and ladder trucks on standby at their equipment shop for this type of stuff to happen, or their main truck needs maintenance.
Undercarriage is probably done for, the good news is 2 new tillers went into service in Downtown so this house is likely expecting a hand me down from one of the Downtown houses
Oh there's two guys that are never going to get to drive the fire truck again. Massive Insurance claim I bet it affects their personal Auto policies too

Can't blame driverless cars for this one.
This could of been a scene in Idiocracy
Someone’s getting brand new cars…
Get well soon firefighters. Looks like a very frightening accident.
Caused by them.
It's a dangerous job that has its risks. To their credit there are not more accidents.@@giftedgreen2152
I wonder if they blamed the owners of the cars 😂😂😂
Hope everyone gets better soon! Sorry this happened.
Kramer!
😂

Especially when it is raining
Your world is small. I see first responders saving life's all the time.
@@MrElemonator That doesn't mean they are perfect and don't make mistakes.

You’re probably one of those people that never stop or pull over for first responders. Then if you call 911 complain they took too long to get there.
It is apparent that a designated driver is needed.
Was Cosmo Kramer driving?
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I remember that episode! 👍🏼👍🏼
Too much "nog" in the eggnog from the shift change party last night?
Roads are wet, driving too fast most likely :D
The driver's couldn't hear each others sirens or horns, no doubt. Get well soon you all involved!
This would be funny if it weren't true.
What a disaster.
Bet the city still don’t pay for it

Both from the same station
If you swap same paint colors it’s a no fault accident.

Early retirement ?
It is challenging to hear the siren when both parties are playing at full blast. And we all thought Google and Teslas were scary.🤦smh
Uh mmmm Chief? Umm you better sit down….😮
That’s a first. 😢
The most overpaid people in America. Tell these do nothing all day bums to go out and work for a living!
