There an interesting story that in the late 70's ZZ Top would play OMD's (Orchestrals Maneuvers in the Dark) electronic tracks in the background before the concert stage was getting set up. Because they thought it was very avant-guarde. Amazingly, OMD made of of ZZ Top about it because they didnt' see ZZ Top as "cool." In later interviews, OMD lamented that they dissed ZZ Top, even though ZZ Top was actually honoring OMD's music. In interviews they sorrowfully explained that they were young and cocky and that to them, ZZ Top just seemed like some old burnt-out rockers. ZZ Top, as we know, did get a lot of heat for their newer synth-driven rhythms. One friend of mine called it shitty "disco-rock." Incidentally, I have a music channel where I show my Theory of Pitch Psychology, which explains (or claims to explain) why composers and songwriters choose different keys for certain emotions or themes. I distinctly remember when this single came out on the radio to support the Afterburner albums released soon. The insane opening and the raising up of the drums finally in their music. I remember us racing out to buy this cassette. And I know within the next year we were sitting in row 5 inside the Palace of Auburn Hills, Michigan watching this tour. This is the quintessential ZZ Top breakout album. With Recycler coming later, it was just the greatest time in the 80s

They lost fans like me who grew up on their first SEVEN albums when they got into synthesizers and artificial sounds instead of the sound that made them famous BEFORE this album and partially the one before "eliminator". I think you need to look into their albums before this one but to each his own

They really did reinvent themselves and captured teens and young people in the 1980's. I'm sure they had some "die-hard" original fans who didn't like the keys and synthesizers, but Eliminator, Afterburner and Recycler were *great* albums regardless if a few didn't like the direction

I didn't know at that moment that Dusty had passed, not until later at home from the internet. If I had known I would have been bawling while they were playing it. My fave of theirs is "Legs". I commented on this one though, because this is the one I came to before "legs" and wanted to watch it, as I've never seen this video before. In 1985 as a 16 yo I left home for another city 800klm away from home. One day I heard this sound I'll never forget. It was none other than Sleeping Bag. I loved that sound. Then another song and another from Afterburner. Then I finally figured out it was the same band as those other songs I hear that I like..! From Eliminator, el Loco, Fandango from 75 etc (1975 Surf Coast cruising Geelong Victoria-I was 6) La Grange, who doesn't like La Grange?. The more I looked the more I discovered I had like their music for longer than I realised. I've never looked back. I'm the only ZZ top music fan I know. But I'll never regret a moment. I saw them in 87 in Melbourne Australia, I was 17 and stood about 3 meters from the stage. What a night. I'm 52 now and that night in 1987, 35 years ago is still one of the most memorable nights of that time of my life. That's what they call 'the time of your life'. And that it was. Thanks for the memories Dusty, go on as long as you can Billy and Frank. you guys are something else. I am P.A.L, count on it...
Saw them back in like....03. Freaking awesome concert. They pulled up on Harleys and a 40 Mercury lead sled, and pulled pink fuzzy guitars out of the trunk then opened with this song. My 2 and 3 year old daughters were hooked on classic rock for the rest of their lives to date

I seen ZZ Top about 45 years ago at the Atlanta Stadium it was a long way from us but we could barely see them that we heard them well and with ZZ Top they was the amazing Rhythm Aces Third Rate Romance that's what song they did that was their hit at the time and Elvin Bishop the the album struttin my stuff they played songs from that and from other albums Elvin Bishop good but ZZ Top they're awesome and the Marshall Tucker Band they was great Fire on the Mountain and searching for a rainbow that was the album at that time they were great 2 I think it was the early 80s I saw ZZ Top at the Fox Theater three nights in a row the light show was cool they are one of my favorite bands their number two out of five 5 groups but Tony Joe White was the man I called him the blues master I listen to him for about 50 years I am his biggest fan he died at the age of 75 years old when he died I saw him 19 times check him out he has written about 600 songs in his career Tina Turner did several John Anderson Waylon James John Mayer the old John Mayer and many more check him out if you like ZZ you will like Tony Joe White may he rest in peace

I've long been a ZZ fan. I went to school in west Houston with one of their kids. I prefer several of their other hits, but this video is just plain cool.
I grew up in Louisiana in the seventies. I would ride my bike to Gibson's Department store with a few bucks to purchase their newest albums. Still my favorite band.

I seen ZZ Top about 45 years ago at the Atlanta Stadium it was a long way from us but we could barely see them that we heard them well and with ZZ Top they was the amazing Rhythm Aces Third Rate Romance that's what song they did that was their hit at the time and Elvin Bishop the the album struttin my stuff they played songs from that and from other albums Elvin Bishop good but ZZ Top they're awesome and the Marshall Tucker Band they was great Fire on the Mountain and searching for a rainbow that was the album at that time they were great 2 I think it was the early 80s I saw ZZ Top at the Fox Theater three nights in a row the light show was cool they are one of my favorite bands their number two out of five 5 groups but Tony Joe White was the man I called him the blues master I listen to him for about 50 years I am his biggest fan he died at the age of 75 years old when he died I saw him 19 times check him out he has written about 600 songs in his career Tina Turner did several John Anderson Waylon James John Mayer the old John Mayer and many more check him out if you like ZZ you will like Tony Joe White may he rest in peace

I've long been a ZZ fan. I went to school in west Houston with one of their kids.
I prefer several of their other hits, but this video is just plain cool.
I grew up in Louisiana in the seventies. I would ride my bike to Gibson's Department store with a few bucks to purchase their newest albums. Still my favorite band.
