Great video. Thank you. I lived in Germany for 5 years and owned a Mercedes SLK 230 and when I drove on the autobahn I averaged 160km/h. Even at those speeds I was being passed as if I was standing still at times. 😮 driving at those speeds is fun indeed and a little scary. What was more interesting for me is that all drivers followed the rules of the road. No one passed on the right and no one sat in the left (passing) lane. Made for safer driving knowing no one was going to do something “stupid”.

My Saab 9-3 has a similar recommendation minus the Eco thing. It also adds loading to the mix. But! It also says the chart numbers are minimum with the maximum being the side wall pressure limit. BTW those numbers in the video are higher than what I am used to seeing. I think the Saab is ~35 psi. Back in ancient times (1960's) the common recommended pressures were about 30 psi. I found that adding 2-3 psi to that made a huge difference to the steering response. If you do any spirited cornering it tends to wear down the shoulders so a little centre wear can offset that.

Thank you for providing this information. I have been adding 3~4 psi (depending on the season) on my tires for years as I find that is when I get the most millage when they are warmed up while been criticized of unsafe practice and this information actually supports my practice... Nice. "...NEVER LET SCHOOLING (Book/Manual Only Followers) INTERFERE WITH MY EDUCATION"... Mark Twain!😉

Does the increased vibration and generally horrible ride created by high tire inflation contribute to premature wear on steering and suspension components?
    I suspect it does.
Sticking to just the recommended pressure and no higher also seems to quiet down all the buzzes and rattles in older cars. Tire shops always overfill.

Some of this guy is stuff is wrong, at higher speeds you need a stiffer tire, for handling, not wear or failure. I want this guy to prove what he says

My car will never be able to achieve mind numbing speeds so I’m not not concerned with increasing my tire pressure.

Is this a joke? Over 100 is way too fast and unsafe, public roads are not race tracks.

Clearly, you have not been on the Autobahn. Or in other states that have very high speed limits. In just Texas, 85 is a speed limit that is legal, and it's not a stretch of the imagination that some people may exceed that limit, just as they do everywhere else.

The Autobahn has completely de-restricted sections where drivers regularly exceed 200 km/h. A good road and a good driver can make any speed safe. Besides, for those irresponsible enough to exceed 100 mi/h without due diligence, they don't deserve to have a blowout and die because the manual didn't tell them to increase pressure. Though I figure that sort of person wouldn't be one to read the manual either.
