- almost 28 years ago , CAMEO , turned street funk into high a high power concept expressing "The Big City Life" of those times ,,not forgetting the keyboards that just like STAR TREK ,sound like the energizer beam from out of space ,, ,?SWAAGG JOINT ,
Mike Burnett... The Bass player on this joint. Rest In Peace to an unsung Bass Player.
All I can say this is a bass player dream Aaron is a gifted bass player and you can tell he went to another level on this song Swag you did ur thing nice work
That bass line is so funky as hell bruh
my entire block & street was shakin during jam TBH .
Knocked out the park ,
don't always happen .. thanks
congratulations you're really good musician, I love the great soul funk greetings from the southern Tyrrhenian coast of Calabria Italy
Thunder thumbs himself would be proud. Funky work. Hands down one of the best Basslines of all time and "Love You Anyway".
Almost flagged this as too funky! You go boy! Made my day😆
+Suki Washington my whole area was shaking beat when i went over this joint ;D
You got a thumbs up for the swag bro, lol. keep it up, love the awesome grooves man
I want Living Colour to do this cover song bye Cameo Groove with you
the head of the song is ok
its the verse .. beat patterns tight
powerful swing beat
Ahhhhhh naw you just hit us with "Groove With You" by Cameo. Please keep it coming.
0:47 Love the way he brings in the low E string here for a change before the F sharp. How come they managed to resist doing that on the original?? :)
thanks .
De tuning can "sometimes" transform bass lines.
more room* . easier to play , brighter harmony,
one of the best de tuned bass lines is "Good Times by Chic"
You and l look alike and I'm a bass player for 57 years Big Ant
nice
What have you done to the tuning on this ?
Great cover, one of Cameo's best tracks. The bass line is fantastic, long live Aaron Mills.
thankyou @womanlybassplayer ,,i am starting to understand the over & and unders, a learning curve i always wanted to learn on bass
Your Swagg is on a trillion right now player.
Salute.
Could not do that sitting down
my entire building was shaking : D
Love cameo but not heard this before but sounds great. The letters aren't covering your face so why use them. You're not bad looking either hehe. Thanks once again for this great record.
All that funk for free we thank you my brother
Aaron Mills is a force to be reckoned with on the bass, bean you did your thang with this one much memories for me .
I'm curious as to whether or not you still have this Stingray as part of your collection?
thank you for your inquiry
yes ,,
its the MusicMan copy by Stagg
£90 brand new,, (shop soiled) with soft case from Denmark St London (Rose Morris)
it really needs to be sent to a shop,
wires to the pots have become intermittent
fret board & intonation is weak, still playable (just)
i have done a comparison with the real deal Stingray
the Stagg is much lighter in weight ,,
not as bright in sound
a very shallow flat neck,, ( classical guitar neck)
Stringray is a thick baseball bat in comparison
the owner of the Stingray liked it ,, tho as i say, the set up needs some work,
i brought it "solely" because it has a "maple neck"
so that i could get a tight slap jam going,
thank you
@@bean9seventy First of all thank you for such an informative response, secondly; thanks for opening my eyes as to the difference between the maple neck and the other types that are out there. I enjoy your videos, thanks for sharing.

not at all ,, feel free,, i like chatting ;D
there is plenty of talk on the web about music gear & components,,
my initial Rosewood type bass
the "Axe" Fender P Bass copy " at that time " was not allowing me to get the detail in slap i sought for a bass jam by a great player from the early YT days
"MarkFunk71" ,,,
so?
i had the extra cash & thought a maple neck would do the trick ,,
"they say", i heard" Maple has a brighter faster dry tone,, for slap
whereupon Rosewood has a deeper slower damp bass sound,, for groove
now, i know how to land those specific slap trick shots, on any bass, basically,,
i am a believer in the ability of a player
& not the gear or tools to be had,
thanks man
I'm beginning to see the light, I have 3 basses currently one of which is the Fender Geddy Lee Jazz and the others are Yamaha TRBX models 174ew and the 504, both of which have Rosewood necks. Whereas the Fender has the maple neck and I find myself picking it up more than the others. As a result of what you shared I'm now understanding the differences in tone and why.

not an altogether a fan of the jazz bass (who ever endorses them) ,, yet , yet ,yet
its a top bass 1001% ,,
i go for P Bass
Jazz bass, for solos, pro stuff
P bass, for line them up street funk jams
Yamaha i just googled, 174 & 504
both are nice models,
they are tech basses (twin octave Stanley Clarke style ) nice,,
so yeah ,, Fender type basses seem to hold less shelf dust, ,,, ;D
Maple Fenders (P & J) can sing
Cheers Larry man
I've been trying so hard to emulate this song on bass, and still working on it.
Piece to this brother, he is no joke on the bass guitar!!!
thank you
@Starrchild65 i can only try ,, thanks
its the same feeling i always get above view ,, clearly ticking ,,this stuff is starting now ,,??,, woo
Bean9seventy Keep up the groovin bass. You are a hell of a of musician.
@Fititodamian123 not sure how to reply ,,is there anything specific about the right hand you need to see , ?,,is it the bass line ,or the method ?, thanks
SWAGG u got the swagg it takes for Groove With You.One day my band is going to perform this song.Right in the funky pocket,it's the perfect blend There's just one thing missing...
One word "AWSOME"!
i had half of my area rokin deep on the jam ,it all moves round a tiny double thumb sequence ,,1st part of the riff ,,would be better in HD ,, it should be very soon when i finaly upload something HD ,,yea i could not put swagg over my face if, i did i would have got more hits )
Tight.
One of the baddest base lines to a song; ever!!!!
my whole estate was rocking during the final stages of recording ,, if that helps ,, thanks ,, swag the joint ,
Smiling now!😆
noo , yes it was a very sunny day ,, but , now i become modest , the worst thing next to victory, its closest friend sometimes is defeat , thank you ,
Such relaxed funkiness.....beautiful!
Amazing!
Nice grooves bro....
