Dear Tammy, I wanted to share that I, as a Protestant Methodist, also cherish Lent and Holy Week beyond words and past all expression. This conversation refreshed my spirit. Thank you for sharing this precious fellowship with our sister Queenie.

We dress in red for Pentecost in the Methodist tradition. It isn’t a rule, it’s rather a lovely tradition symbolizing the tongues of flame of the Holy Spirit.

    Praise GOD John 20:21-22
    21
    * [Jesus] said to them again,l “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.”
    22
    * And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit”.

Ecclesiastes 10:1. Dead flies cause the ointment of the apothecary to send forth a stinking savour: so doth a little folly him that is in reputation for wisdom and honour.

There is something a little more interesting about Jesus riding to Jerusalem on a donkey. It is that donkeys help protect herds of lambs from predators. They stomp the wolves and lions to death. God put the two species together from the beginning or we would never have had lambs survive through the ages. So Jesus is honoring the pairing. His Father thought of everything so that his day of sacrifice was done for the Glory of God and not man. Jesus is as much the vulnerable Lamb of God today as he was yesterday. The donkey today is the priesthood. They protect him from the wolves and lions who want to eat him alive. We are safe too, because both exist even when evil seems manifest.

Thank you for your comment. I rode a mule at a mule ranch and it was such a pleasure. They are acutely aware of any changes in the landscape. They stop if anything is different

This is what I believe. Whoever believes shall have everlasting life. I'm a sinner and a follower of Christ, I know only God can judge me.
    John 3:16
    New International Version
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

I suppose if you're referring to Roman Catholic doctrine, then, the answer is yes but that is not biblical truth. The priests offered sacrifices to God on behalf of the people. That is no longer necessary. Because of Jesus’ sacrifice, we ( as believers) can now approach God’s throne with boldness and without a human mediator (Hebrews 4:16). The temple veil tearing in two at Jesus’ death was symbolic of the dividing wall between God and humanity being destroyed. We can now approach God directly, --without the use of a human mediator. As Jesus Christ is our great High Priest (Hebrews 4:14-15; 10:21) and the only mediator between us and God (1 Timothy 2:5). I implore you to read your Bibles and ask the holy spirit to speak to you on this matter as only the holy spirit of the triune ( father, son and holy spirit) can confirm and guide us to spiritual truths. May God bless and keep you as you come to the saving knowledge of Christ Jesus.

I wish protestants would cite their interpretations of catholic teaching with the catechism like they cite their interpretations of scripture with scripture. :)

-- Got a great citation for ya: "Sola fide, sola scriptura, solus Christus, sola gratia." ~ Martin Luther or Luther's theology. I will pray that God works in your heart and brings you to the saving knowledge of Christ Jesus.

@@Judges4MWarriorWoman how about you cite the catholic catechism where it states what a priest is and what he does and what he isn't and what he doesn't do in regards to offering the Holy Mass or in the eastern rites, the Divine Liturgy. Man isn't another mediator, only Christ and he is High Priest and victim. The priests do not offer up many sacrifices or re sacrifice Jesus. I implore you know what you are objecting to before you declare your objection.
You are free to interpret the Bible however you see fit and create a new religion, but when it comes to established Church doctrine, you aren't free to interpret it as you see fit and make it a religion it is not.

@@poorbanishedchildrenofEve Sola scriptura!. I have yet to read in the bible where Christ elected a "stand in" for himself (Catholic priest) regardless of the priest's role or function. IT IS NOT IN THE BIBLE! Furthermore, your assumptions about me and my knowledge and or lack thereof of Catholic doctrine doesn't make a difference to me. My initial comments about the content of the video and Catholic doctrine still stands. You have yourself a blessed evening and again, I pray that you get into your bible a bit more often and learn that Jesus is the only mediator between God and man. There's really no need for a priest. All the same, thanks for your responses. Stay safe and stay connected to Jesus! :)

@@Judges4MWarriorWoman when you make a claim that the catholic church does or teaches something, cite your evidence from a catholic teaching source. You do it for making your claim on what the Bible says. When you say to the effect you don't need a human mediator when there is only one mediator, Jesus Christ--you need to establish that is what the catholic church teaches and believes she is doing with the institution of Bishops and priests. That she believes creatures are taking the place of God the son incarnate, our high priest and lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. And these men sacrifice Him anew daily.
If you are incorrect on comprehension of a teaching, your argument becomes a straw man. A logical fallacy.
Most of our conversations with protestants is just trying to get them to comprehend our beliefs properly and then encourage to create arguments against our actual beliefs if they still disagree. It is reasonable to do so.
When our beliefs cannot be comprehended correctly, your opinion on what scripture says and teaches is irrelevant. If I argued a point againat your belief that established i didnt comprehend your belief accurately, you wouldn't take much, if any, value on my argument against that belief.
This is all I'm saying. Cite your sources that lead you to conclude what you conclude about this specific catholic teaching that you cite scripture to refute.

This is a false and nonsensical post. Learn the catechism of the original and only church that Lord Jesus Christ began and let the glory set you free.
