I also think it still holds up to one of the best box designs too. I don't mind the ones with black backgrounds, but they lose the excitement of buying the set with a cool box, especially since each sets like the AT AT hold their own iconic story.

David, thanks for showing how the display stand displays to the Falcon. I bought and made the exact same stand for this. I am currently in the middle of building the UCS Falcon. Of course I started this journey last August. Instead of saving up for the $850 or so, I started by printing out the parts list from Rebrickable and adding to a wanted list in Bricklink. Then, I looked at what parts I had, and placed several orders for in store pick up with the Brickheads store in my area. I also sent there and picked individual parts from their loose brick inventory. The Sticker sheet was from Germany and the printed pieces (Cockpit, Antenna, etc) from Australia. So I spent a little over $600 to acquire the parts. I spent a few days separating all the parts by function in many clear cups and bins to make the assembly easier.

Why does everyone say this about UCS sets? Seeing a ton of this since the Venator. The entire purpose of a UCS set is to put it on a display stand or in a glass case so what purpose would an expansive interior serve?

    • @svensantesson2020
      @svensantesson2020 ปีที่แล้ว +36

@@FabuBrik ITS even cooler, but i get your Point.
I think ITS because the UCS lineup ist the only Chance to get a huge Set in minifig scale, with real interior, Like the UCS atat.
I noticed people are very splited. The one half don't need interior, the other does... Either way lego does IT, one half will "lose".
Either it has No interior, or people would have to pay for an interior they didnt want.

    • @FabuBrik
      @FabuBrik ปีที่แล้ว +23

@@svensantesson2020 I get that but are people really playing with UCS sets? They're not really manageable to play with at all. The interior of the AT-AT is a nice to have, but again are people really playing with these? They surely just sit on display where you never see the interior at all. The falcon strikes a great middle ground of having the interior easter eggs without compromises to appease those who want an oversized playset.

    • @ShortRound42
      @ShortRound42 ปีที่แล้ว +6

I agree. Could've accommodated more. But its not bad for what they gave.
But that's what Lego is for. You're never supposed to get a true 'complete' kit. You mod it, add to it to your liking. Makes the hobby more fun.

As someone who bought the knock off stand off of Amazon (exact same design as yours) I have had no issues with it, however I will probably upgrade to a clear stand like you showcased in the future. Needed a quick and cheap way to display it so I just went for the knock off. Otherwise great video! One of if not the best LEGO set of all time.

What made the Falcon the best UCS set for me was always the "doing just a bit more". Like adding an interior, an alternative dish, many minifigs. All things they didn´t need to do and most UCS sets also don´t do but it just gives it something extra. Like the UCS ISD, it looks amazing on display but that´s just it

This video was a great idea! With so many big sets these days, you can be forgiven for wondering if this set is still as great as it was when it was released. I've been going back and forth about whether or not to get this set for years now. On one hand, it looks awesome! On the other hand, I don't think I can justify that high price tag, especially when there are other big sets like the Venator and Hogwarts Castle on my radar. Plus, I have to think about how much more expensive it will be raising my one-year-old as he gets older, especially being a single dad.
Also, I share your views on the Last Jedi! It's nice to hear that some people appreciate it!

I always knew I was going to get this set. My white whale as a life long Star Wars fan who was too young to get the 2007 version back in the day.
Cut to 2020 and during the height of COVID, I ended up moving in w/ my Grandfather for the Summer to paint the exterior of his house; cleaning out the basement before pros came in to remodel it from scratch (lots of dismantling and cleaning of old furniture on my end) as well as cleaning out the Garage w/ 40+ years of stuff.
During this time, my mother was caring for my Grandfather, as he needed to have a life-saving surgery in June 2020, at the end of the Summer - she decides to surprise me with a trip to the LEGO Store on our way home and tells me, after 4 years - she was buying me the Millennium Falcon for all the hard work I put in (It came out to about $3.25/hr).
Life's been super busy w/ College, multiple moves (since July 2018, the longest I've spent in one place was 9 months - w/ no Falcon to build too - but for the most part I'm never in the same place more than 4 months) and several major family crisis', celebrations & reunions throughout the US & Ireland has meant the Falcon has been sitting in my Grandfather's house, waiting for me to build it.
My family is moving there full time in a few months, and after we're all settled in - I will finally build it, in the place which earned me the Falcon.

I wanted to pick it up in person in store but it was always sold out. So I ordered it online. I was so nervous it would come damaged or get lost/ stolen. But it didn't and I LOVE it. Worth the $850 & $800 price tag. I also have the ISD, AT-AT. Too still need that Venator tho!

It is a sight to behold, but in a lot of ways it’s kind of overrated. I value my UCS B Wing more than the Falcon. I sold mine, traded up and got the ATAT. Just took up such a huge amount of space and isn’t really my favourite SW ship (the aforementioned b wing is). The ATAT is much more manageable and matched with a minifigure scale snowspeeder MOC it looks amazing!

I was at the early release in Leicester Square, London. I live in Cornwall and finished work early, drove across the country and got the tube to Leicester Square. I was there at 16:45 and the store opened at midnight. I got 146/150 and got to my gf's at London Bridge at 04:00. It was great to have one a month early and also get it signed and personalised by the designers. I had "what a piece of junk" written on the box. It's still in my office, unopened. They went for £4,500 the next day on ebay.

I remember the day I bought it. I just woke up without my alarm, made my coffee and went online to preorder my copy. The set was up, I bought it, everything went smooth.
Half an hour later, I tried to see my order because I had a thing to check and the site was dead, crashing all around.
Back then, I was so numb about the potential demand and was extremely lucky to not plan anything and still put my hands on it.
This set is glorious still to this day. I bought a coffee table just to showcase it and plan to eventually tile the ground and sides to look like some death star hangar, but first I need to become filthy rich because it's going to need a completely unreasonable amount of pieces.

I was so hyped for this set. I was 19, living at home, going to school and had no money. I begged my mom for it as a Christmas & birthday gift and she agreed! I refreshed my phone the second it launched, was on my way to class at the time. Frustrated with crashes as well, finally got through within the first 5 minutes and snagged one. It arrived at my grandmas house, and I was forced to wait for it as a Christmas gift! Worst 3 month wait of my life lmao. It is still the crown jewel of my collection, and was such a win in my book after begging for the original UCS falcon when I was 10 and not getting it. I have 3 now, I bought one to keep sealed and finally got the OG one!

Man, I skipped a day at school and went to Munich by train to get mine.
    Its such a fun memory.
We had a pretty rough storm on Wednesday evening over night to Thursday, when we went there.
When we got on the train I phoned the Lego store around 8:00 AM and asked one of the staff members, if they could reserve a model for me because I would be there around 3:00 PM.
When we changed trains and where maybe 10 stops from Munich main station we got notified by the DB (Deutsch Bahn = the german rail company) that an overhead line was damaged by a tree that fell on the tracks and that the repairs will take several hours. On the next station taxis and busses where provided by the DB, ot take the travelers to their destination.
So we arrive at Munich main station per taxi and then used the subway to get to the shoppingmall.
When we got to the store it was sometime around 14:30 PM I believe.
There i got the last one and i had a great chat with the staff.
They told me that the other 49 copys got sold within 30 minutes and they have never experienced this ever before the falcon got released.
Also I got a 5% discount due to a damaged package. This did not bother me solong no part is damaged.
It wasn't in the transport package but the staff put it in there and I can't stress enough how handy that cartonage was.
The trip home was fun, because a lot of people where looking and a few asked what set it was, can you imagine that?
Also an other passanger asked me why I did not wait until 2xVIP point to buy the falcon, when we changed trains.
So anyway when we got home one of the wheels finally broke off in the drive way.
And druing the holidays this massive set got completed within 19h 45minutes and I just love it.

I don’t do reviews or else I would have myself. But I’ve been wanting to see or make a retrospective video of the falcon. Unless you were big in the LEGO community at the time I feel like it has been forgotten how big of a deal this set was on release. There were so many teaser images and marketing. We all knew it was coming but LEGO wouldn’t reveal it and just keep teasing. People kept making fake images with Mocs or the 07 set trying to pass it off as a leak. Then it had the box with wheels and it was the largest set at the time. Black vip card and so much with the marketing. And like you mentioned it was difficult to acquire. Glad you made this video. This set is so important in LEGO and LEGO Star Wars history and it gets a little over looked now that there are so many large sets like it

Bought the knockoff stand, it holds up suprisingly well, been on there for about half a year. A couple pieces didn't quite fit while building the actual stand, so I had to file one piece down a bit before I could assemble the stand, but it's done wonders ever since!

I still think this needed about 20 figures - all the OT characters who ever sat in it, and the newer cast to date. Something way more akin to the Rivendell set. Have luke, lando, all the gang. Really stingy of Lego to package with so few minifigs.
And way more interior, crazy to have these tiny sections when you could have so much more going on. Honestly for the price that would be worth it to me, but as it is those factors just felt a bit strange to be missing at such a high cost.

My only complaint with it is the attachment of the upper panels was always a little flimsy and whilst they 'fit' together very well visually they could have been locked in place a little better.

This was a set I never thought I'd get just because of the price tag alone as I do not have that much expendable money. Until one Christmas, my aunt got it for me because she knew how much I enjoy timing my build speed. It ended up taking 13 hours and 57 minutes for me, by far the longest time spent on a set. To this day I walk past it and still can't believe I have it, and to say nothing about having assembled it. And personally, I prefer having it on the feet so the ramp can be lower along with the under belly gun sticking out (was favorite part to assemble).

My only gripe with this kit is I wanted a TRUE ultimate Lego Millennium UCS Falcon.
Meaning, it needed ALL the figs of figures that have been onboard the Falcon.
    You needed:
    - ANH Luke, Ben, Han, Leia, R2. All new exclusive prints, etc.
    - ESB Bespin Luke missing hand ;).
    - ROTJ General Lando and Nien Nunb. All new figs, exclusive only to this kit.
Then of course we get Hoth Leia, and Hoth Han with some Mynocks and that's great. Love it.
Plus the Sequel Trilogy characters (which I get, hot movie at the time, and the switch on the front parts and radar dish for alt-build).
But I feel like many UCS sets that have up to 20+ figures, this set needed that treatment too. Would be like only 15 figs.
BUT, again, I probably have almost all of the figs to populate it, but so far no Nien Nunb :(

With an inflation calculator, the $800 price tag at TODAY's price would be a $1000 kit. Yep, a thousand dollar kit. So at $850, which hated when they did it, it's not bad.
Yeah, the AT-AT is great. Looks great BUT, it has some fragility. Like all Lego does but the panels on the AT-AT, the legs which are nice to pose but VERY limited to how much you can pose (not alot), AND you gotta' buy about another 5 plus Hoth Battle Packs to populate it. So you need another $100 plus dollars added to it.
At least on that front with the Falcon you probably have all the OT figs to help add more to it.

My story with it was I got it 2 years ago after getting my new job. I went to the store with my gf and saw it on the shelf so I picked it up and went to the counter. Lady seemed a little confused about selling the "floor model" and asked if I could get it in the brown box instead. Sure no problem. Well turns out the guy who went to fetch it got the wrong box and I got the star destroyer instead. I called the store and said what happened after I got home and they said that I could return it. I did so hoping they would be able to give me the real one but apparently that was sold sometime between me leaving the store and entering back the next day to return the isd. I had to wait another few weeks for it to be shipped back. The store was also a 45 minute trip there and another 45 minutes back so after almost 2.5 hours of driving I finally had it

Hi, your channel is really great and your awesome reviews. I have the Falcon for couple years now, still an amazing looking ship and Lego build. Am struggling to find a decent way to clean/remove dust off the Lego. I see you are using some kind of attachement for your vacuum cleaner. Can you please share what your vacuum cleaner make and model is and assoicated attachement, i.e is it Dyson products for example? Many thanks

In Hong Kong, we can buy all the products at non official Lego shop which can get 25-30% discount of official prize. 😊

I paid $813 Australian dollars a fortnight ago. I couldn't believe it when it popped up in my Amazon cart at that price and was very happy I had the funds available!

I hope the next UCS version of the Millennium Falcon would have full interior. Retail price maybe hitting 1000 euro.

I found someone selling it on a norwegian website similar to ebay, selling it for the norwegian equivalent of 300$, but already built though

It took me 4 years to save up enough for this and it’s still my favorite Lego purchase. I remember when Amazon was doing a 40% deal and I missed it. So happy I got this and as my main display piece.

I have one of those Chinese (im assuming) stands for $30. It works perfectly fine.
Getting it on the millennium falcon after it was built was already built was a pretty big pain in the rear though

5:20 I actually have a knock-off version of that stand, & so far I can say it's held up perfectly fine for nearly a year now. Perhaps I'm jynxing myself with this comment though 🤣

I bought it a second time recently (sold my first one a few years ago for a guitar, ha) and was told recently by a Lego store employee that it could be retiring very soon, or at least they started to hear rumors in the company about it. Have no idea if that’s accurate but was definitely a surprise.

I have this set as well but I built it once, admired it for a couple days and then dis-assembled it due to lack of space. It currently sits in pieces in its box! What shelving system do you use for displaying your big Lego sets? Is it custom or something from Ikea?
