I think the voice actress for this does a good job of doing Chloe's voice. I think Rachel will be a nice addition, though not the center focus (a good thing). I'm excited to play it because, while I wasn't a big fan of Chloe in Life is Strange, I think she was a well-written character and I'd like to see how she got to that point.
I actually really like the new voice actor. Don't get me wrong Ashley Burch is amazing. But this game takes place three years ago from where the first game started. And when you're 16 and when you're 18, your voice doesn't exactly sound the same. The new voice actor kind of sounds like Chloe but she kind of sounds younger. So it kind of gives you a little more authenticity
The original team is working on a true sequel, so I'm pretty happy. I think this story of this one will be good, but I need a continuation. I really want a new protagonist with some crazy new power. Maybe some teleportation or something.
that seems like an odd mechanic for a story-based game. time travel worked well because you could see how your interactions affected the future and change it if you wanted. I'm not sure what teleportation would bring to the table though...
I like how the lip movements and the words are in sync because in life is strange it was off and the animation like the hair and earrings moving. I just wish the eyelashes looked better
Part of me really wishes I was there so 1) I could meet you guys and 2) so I could bring a banner that says "Save the Subscriber Squid" and wave it around in the background of your shot.
It won't be the last time unless Life is Strange Season 2 makes the sacrifice Chloe ending canon. But if all goes to plan players who sacrificed Arcadia Bay will likely see more of her.
Crazy Frog 55 Ik, it's practically impossible to replicate the fantastic characters and setting from the first. They caught lighting in a bottle, and I can't see them being able to do it again if they go with new characters...
It was absoluetly clear ever since the post-ending interviews that LiS2 will feature a different cast of characters. No need for getting your hopes up m8, this prequel is actually more than anyone would have thought we'd get.
except Rachel has a reason to be pissed especially after she saw that couple kissing besides a family secret turns Rachel's World upside down Maybe Rachel's dad The DA killed Chloe's dad but that's just a theory i had
SPOILERS FOR LIFE IS STRANGE - Just something that I found odd (even for this game) I have no regrets sacrificing Arcadia Bay for Chloe, I mean, I didn't bend the fabric of reality and create at least two alternate timelines (Not including all the choices e.g. Saving Kate or not) just to go back to the beginning and do nothing. BUT I honestly thought Chloe would've at least mentioned the fact that I condemned her own mother to a stormy death, instead she's like "Later losers" as we drive off into the sunset.
well even the girl that voiced maxine said in the interview that chloe's and max's relationship may break apart after the choice of letting the whole town die off, with her mother and step-father included.
Square Enix is removing content for this game and making it into a *"bonus episode"* that's locked behing a *Deluxe Edition* pay wall, for a game that's only 3 episodes.
store.steampowered.com/bundle/3691/Life_is_Strange_Before_The_Storm_Deluxe_Edition/ You get to play as Max in this episode. Sucks that you have to buy the deluxe version to be able to do that.
Mercy Segen Wow, sucks to see that they're going down the Telltale path. As long as each episode doesn't last 1 hour with uninteresting side characters and poor optimization in a linear movie game
Kristopher G I must have missed some dialog or something from what I've heard in game she sounds like a lesbian but when I play it next I'll play more attention or maybe before the storm can answer it or not
Probably unneeded, but just in case - Spoilers for the first game ahead! Rachel was, in Chloe's delicate terms, "banging Frank." We also know that Rachel ended up falling for Jefferson. Whilst Chloe definitely crushed on Rachel, I don't think there was much to suggest that feeling was mutual. Rachel clearly flirted with everyone and managed to make pretty much everyone at Blackwell either fall for her or be intimidated by her. I think poor Chloe got the same treatment whilst she was emotionally vulnerable and ended up falling in love with Rachel, whilst Rachel probably remained totally oblivious as to how deeply Chloe got attached to her. That's speculation, of course. But the evidence is Rachel wasn't gay, so the rest would generally fit. As for Chloe, we know she'd had boyfriends, which we learn from Joyce. We know she carries around spare condoms in her wallet, which we discover if we go nosing around in her room. We also know she considered Jefferson hot. Chloe is, at most, bi, as she clearly likes the guys, too. Considering her age, I'd probably say she is still figuring out her sexuality. Rachel would appear to be her only "girl crush," as far as we are led to know. She's so messed up in the head the entire time we know her, I don't think its really easy to judge. I don't think we can know exactly who Chloe is because I don't think Chloe entirely knows who Chloe is yet, either.
Helbore to thinks A. I usually never read this long of a comment and B. I forgot about some of those points so after reading your comment there's a lot more events that she is by
the way I understood Jane's pitch is that maybe you could choose between saving Rachel, or meeting Max the way you did in LiS. it obviously wouldn't have any lasting effects on games, but offer a different ending for people who find that they prefer Chloe and Rachel's relationship over Chloe and Max's
I just realized a pattern. The main character is the main character and their friend is the troubled one. Honestly, I think being troubled ruins Rachel's character based on how Chloe described her.
Guys, what if the reason Jane is telling people to watch OXtra's videos is because Ellen is the mastermind, and not Jane? The tables have turned! Wake up sheeple! Also, #LetEllenPlayKoA
I saved the city because Max + Warren were the most important characters for me... so she died anyways :D but they need to meet so she can have her influence on max
Save Rachel. No question. Though I'd be surprised if the game managed to reach that point - it's a couple of years before Rachel Amber went missing at this point, so any way of keeping her from that fatal dose is going to have to be pretty indirect... But what kind of person wants to force Max to watch Chloe die half a dozen times?
I'm always really interested in the people who do a Warren-heavy playthrough. He's never been in the game for more than 10 minutes for me because of the options i choose. Kate and Victoria are way more important in my game. Heck Dana and Alyssa are in the game more than he is. Guess that's why it's such a great game, it's a completely different experience depending on the choices you make.
In the trailer, for a split second you see Chloe in the car with her father during when he dies. I think this is a hint to Chloe having some kind of super power. Any thoughts?
Omg that music gets me so relaxed and pumped at the same time. I think this is going to be amazing. It will give us more insight into Rachael and Chloe's relationship and exactly what happened because most of it is still a mystery. I think it will add to the original game.
I don't know how to explain it but the music was such a big part of the first game for me. Just listening to the music is this little bit I already love it. It gets the LiS feel spot on.
Bαяяу Allєи Well, as far as I remember, Chloe admitted having a crush on Rachel, so it would be more natural than this fan-forced PriceField ship. This ship just exists 'cause so many players want to see them together, even though Max and Chloe never had any romantic interactions. So technically, Chloe x Rachel would be more canon than any other ship in the series
Hodor is not amused _Max abd Chloe's relationship instantly patch itself up..from what I've seen they relationship double since they were younger. Max would do ANYTHING for Chloe cause she doesn't want to lose her_
Bαяяу Allєи I would also do everything in the world for my best friend and I love her more than anything in existence, but that still doesn't mean that I automatically have romantic feelings for her. And to answer any upcoming questions, I'm not straight, so it's not like it wouldn't be a possibility for me to fall in love with a female person. I just don't see any connection between Max and Chloe on that level. There are enough people who can be best friends for life, but would suck at being a couple
Life is strange is just fantastic emotionally. Never before in a video game have I really wanted to fully embrace the emotional choices and decisions as I did in the first game. Usually I don't care too much and just enjoy the story, yet in this game I actually found myself getting sad when max/chloe was sad, angry when they were angry, and etc.
I wonder if we'll get to see Chloe coping with losing Max at all. They made it clear in LiS that Chloe and Max basically stopped communicating after Max left, but it would be interesting to see Chloe dealing with that now that we're inside her head for a change. Maybe we could stumble on old pictures of them as kids in Chloe's bedroom, or see a less dilapidated version of their mural. It was obviously a big deal to her when Max left, and it would do so much to inform some things that happen in LiS, like the very ambiguous first conversation Chloe and Max have in her truck in Ep 1. Or the fact that Chloe knew Max had been back in Arcadia Bay for several months before the beginning of LiS without contacting her. Knowing a bit more about what Chloe thought about all this would be great, plus it would be a nice bit of fanservice to anyone who wants more Max in their life (ahem, me).
Not really sure how to feel about the new voice actor. Some things seems good, others that need more emotion are pretty bad. I get that they have always struggled with the emotion of lines but It sounds like they are just reading from the script and it takes away from the game.
Features: - Optional in-game purchases. Deluxe Edition: - Bonus Episode “Farewell” featuring a young Max (to be released after Episode 3). - The Outfit Pack: a set of three additional outfit options that Chloe can change into at certain points in the story: Punk Doe, Hawt Dawg Man, and Illuminati. - For preorderers: "Classic Chloe" outfit. Add to it a different developer and overall feeling that a prequel nor sequel was required (a completely different story, yes, it would be ok). This is why I am not optimistic. This looks like a cashgrab from SquareEnix and maybe a move to promote the rebranded Idol Minds studio (they are now called Deck Nine Games), to pose a competition for Telltale.
I want a sequel where there are two options to play. Like the episodes that there will be but in two versions. The first one being what happens after you've sacrificed the town to save Chloe where you see what happens between them etc. and another one where you see what happens in Max's life after she has sacrificed Chloe
Since it's only gonna be having 3 episodes, what if you can save Rachel, but it's really really hard, like a secret alternative ending that is really hard to find, and then if you do manage to save her, 2 more secret episodes will be unlocked which becomes an alternate version of the whole first Life is Strange game.
*looks at how the different voice actor for the outsider in Dishonored 2 split the games community* *sees that they're having a different voice actor for a fan favourite character in life is strange* *retreats into bunker*
am i the only one who's excited about the soundtrack for this game?! I mean the "life is strange" soundtrack is amazing and i love the song for the trailer of "before the storm"
They should have given the time power to Rachel, put her on the unavoidable path that led to her death, and as soon as she died -the power left her and entered Max. Boom, start of original game!
Why did 54% save the town?! The entire game is Max telling Chole "I will never leave you" obviously saving Chole even though she dies is the right answer
I don't understand all the hate of Chloe's new voice. She actually sounds like a younger, vulnerable version of her. I think people will appreciate her performance as time goes by.
I'm upset too, but can't be helped with the strike. However, I think the voice actress doing her for this game does her voice justice. I can barely tell a difference. And if you think about it, Chloe would be about 16 during this so her voice would still be changing somewhat. Not hard to imagine.
I watched the E3 gameplay. I have one word: WOW. The new VA is really good! I loved the final scene, she really did justice to Chloe. I love Ashly, but I have to say that the new actress is just as good.
I can tell the difference too, but after watching the gameplay, I feel amazed of how good is the new VA. She isn't and won't be Ashly, but she's Chloe at some point.
I feel that Chloe's new voice fits with the "prequel" thing. Like she ages 3 years in the timespan of BTS (Before the Storm) and the first LIS, so it doesn't really feel weird to me. (Ik I'm stating the obvious, but just wanted to put out my opinion.)
To everyone who complaint about Chloe's Voice, Just remember the events occur 3 years before the Life is Strange 1 happen. If she have a little bit different note just think because she's still 16 yo. Beside her style are quite same for me, except she's a little bit not-as-cool-as-later.
I don't think you could save Rachel, I mean in the first game just because Max saves Chloe doesn't mean that she still isn't going to die regardless, The universe still has it out for Chloe to die and I honestly believe that someone else will take that person place with death, and obviously Rachel still died in the first game because of well you know who. But still. Obviously there is no way of saving Rachel,
Going to get a lot of hate and I will give the game a try, but I really didn't like Chloe as a person in the last game. Her character development was fine and Ashly did a fine job acting as her, but I just didn't like her. I'm not big on playing her as a character. I'm glad this is just a spin off and not the actual sequel they're working on.
A prequel is a type of spin-off. It's semantics. The point is that I'm just glad it isn't the next installment because it'd be depressing to just have a new installment that was mostly a story we knew with a character I personally didn't really like.
I can definitely tell the difference between the voice acting. Ashley did the voice justice for sure and I'll miss it. however, the new VA is doing Chloe justice still, and the acting isn't bad imo. She's doing a pretty good job, and the strike can't be helped.
But wasn't all the story content of this game covered in the previous one. I mean wasn't that all the detective work we did in Life is Strange 1? To figure out the everything that happened a little while ago?
Oh my god, his shirt
dino buster want it!!
dino buster 100th like!!!!
I want a long sleeve version now
Geek With Glasses , I don't trust. Should I??? It seems very long for a code xD
Geek With Glasses , I trust it now
If I'm in it, it's Game of the Year.
Pompidou possible we don't know how old you are
Pompidou we need a spinoff of just you
Pompidou nigga why you texting me in episode 5 asking for treats and shit?
Pompidou I faded you in the game
Pompidou its not gonna be the same if clhoes here
I think the voice actress for this does a good job of doing Chloe's voice. I think Rachel will be a nice addition, though not the center focus (a good thing). I'm excited to play it because, while I wasn't a big fan of Chloe in Life is Strange, I think she was a well-written character and I'd like to see how she got to that point.
In addition to that, from what I've heard of dialogue in game the new voice actress sounds ever so slightly younger, which suits the setting.
I ended up loving Chloe, I but I didn’t like her at all when we first meet her. It always makes me laugh a little.
I love how Luke's wearing an Arcadia Bay Diner tshirt during this conversation.
If this is how most teenagers spent their time including Luke then I really missed out
Yeh agree
I'm like Warren from LiS. Into geeky stuff. And staying inside classrooms
Are you also a total creep?
I wouldn't go that far
yes, you really did
I actually really like the new voice actor. Don't get me wrong Ashley Burch is amazing. But this game takes place three years ago from where the first game started. that seems like an odd mechanic for a story-based game. time travel worked well because you could see how your interactions affected the future and change it if you wanted. I'm not sure what teleportation would bring to the table though...
Are they really? How can there be one sequel when the two endings are so drastically different?
New characters. LiS 2 will more than likely follow new characters
Can you please link a citation to where they said they're working on a sequel?
maybe some kind of Mindjacking? Thought with the new Mario doing it, it might seem like a bandwagon
I like how the lip movements and the words are in sync because in life is strange it was off and the animation like the hair and earrings moving. I just wish the eyelashes looked better
"Max and Chloe are sacred! I'm done here" *walks off*
Part of me really wishes I was there so 1) I could meet you guys and 2) so I could bring a banner that says "Save the Subscriber Squid" and wave it around in the background of your shot.
YES!
Yess I second that
Ok, any Outside Xbox/Xtra fans attending E3, please do this for us!
I was there on Tuesday and Wednesday; couldn't find them. Was looking for 'em.
PaxIesus They were being cloaked by Andy's stealth abillities.
Man Luke's eyes pop in this video.
God I love the music...

Daughter 💛
Ashly is supposedly working with the story writing that has to do with Chloe, so that's good :D
Plot Twist: Max rewound time too far that we had to play this game before getting Life is Strange 2
I've got it on PS4 for free for the month, I finished it, but now I can't get Chloe and Max outta off my head
MahmuTheKing I sacrifice aracada bay Bae over bay
MahmuTheKing Pricefield for the
win
Sucks that this might be the last time we see Chloe and it's not even Ashly voicing her...
It won't be the last time unless Life is Strange Season 2 makes the sacrifice Chloe ending canon. But if all goes to plan players who sacrificed Arcadia Bay will likely see more of her.
Crazy Frog 55 Tho season 2 might not even be about the same characters, unfortunately...
icecream is nice if Dontnod do that they're shooting themselves in the foot as the majority of the fan base would probably go crazy.
No need for getting your hopes up m8, this prequel is actually more than anyone would have thought we'd get.
i like how the paper is peeling off the mics
So they're taking away the one thing that was marginally interesting about Life is Strange in favor of more teen angst? Well, I'm sold!
Now I want to see an Oxbox remake of The Breakfast Club. It would have: The tall one, the bubbly one, the car geek, the supervillain and Andy.
What did the Oxbox team choose at the end of LiS?THE PEOPLE WANT TO KNOW
I would save Rachel so they don't reunite. That would get rid of that bad influence Chloë has on Max. Winning on both aspects Shaka Brah XD
No, no, no
Pricefiels is like food for the soul, you need it
Point number 7 is an insane prediction that may just come true!
So basically Rachel is the new Chloe and Chloe is the new Max (with a sad backstory of a dead daddy)
except Rachel has a reason to be pissed especially after she saw that couple kissing besides a family secret turns Rachel's World upside down Maybe Rachel's dad The DA killed Chloe's dad but that's just a theory i had
I like the 1st one because it had a murder mystery in it
I like chloes new voiceactor because the voice really sounds younger and chloe is younger in this version so i really love it :)
Reason to be optimistic number 0: The Soundtrack.
uh-uh, if Chloe cries, I cry

Tyler Hale i m pretty sure shes having nightmares about her dad dying
Very possible
Love the Arcadia Bay shirt Luke! How was the food at the Two Whale's Diner?
Rachel was a "cool-girl mentor" to Chloe. Chloe was a "cool-girl mentor" to Max. Who will Max mentor? Something to look forward to in LIS2.
encore huh? where did you get the info?
literally every interview with the devs post Episode 5.
I cried during the snow scene and both endings. Life is strange was so good yet so emotional, it was so beautiful.
Omg that music gets me so relaxed and pumped at the same time. I think this is going to be amazing. It will give us more insight into Rachael and Chloe's relationship and exactly what happened because most of it is still a mystery. I think it will add to the original game.

Every video is better when you add a Star Wars reference.
Would be nice, but this will NEVER happen
*looks at how the different voice actor for the outsider in Dishonored 2 split the games community*
*sees that they're having a different voice actor for a fan favourite character in life is strange*
*retreats into bunker*
Who else wants a two whales diner shirt?
Tbh kind of a pointless prequel in my eyes. I guess hardcore fans will really like it
Generic Name fuck yeah we will I know I'll play the shit outa this game
Just a huge nerd me as fuck
They better add some supernatural shit cuz that's what made the first game so good
Man when Nathan described rachel as being a drunk, party maniac and etc., I now believe that fool...Dang. . .**contemplating**
"2 there must be. No more. No less. 1 to hold all the popularity. The other to crave it" = The rule of 2-Cool-4-Skool.
I'm so excited for the new game! love the environments they make for this
"Max and Chloe are sacred!" _walks off_
Hahaha, oh man, that would pretty much be my reaction if they gave that choice.
it's like poetry, like how it rhymes.
Rachel's face looks...off.
am i the only one who's excited about the soundtrack for this game?! I mean the "life is strange" soundtrack is amazing and i love the song for the trailer of "before the storm"
I wish Ashly Burch was returning in the prequel, but I'm still excited and can't wait to see how the story and choices play out
They should have given the time power to Rachel, put her on the unavoidable path that led to her death, and as soon as she died -the power left her and entered Max. Boom, start of original game!
Why did 54% save the town?! The entire game is Max telling Chole "I will never leave you" obviously saving Chole even though she dies is the right answer
I found the first one very disappointing, I hope this one is better.
I don't understand all the hate of Chloe's new voice. She actually sounds like a younger, vulnerable version of her. I think people will appreciate her performance as time goes by.
dude's so excited it makes me excited. In general yeah? no just about the game. keep him around.
keep the music, keep the beautiful quite 'stationary' scenes, and tear jerking ending and you will be good
Ashly Burch is not doing Chloe's voice? WTH? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I'm upset too, but can't be helped with the strike. However, I think the voice actress doing her for this game does her voice justice. I can barely tell a difference. And if you think about it, Chloe would be about 16 during this so her voice would still be changing somewhat. Not hard to imagine.
That's true, I get your point. 8)
I can absolutely tell the difference. Pitch, texture, and especially talent. ugh.
She isn't and won't be Ashly, but she's Chloe at some point.
i was kind of hoping it would be a more traumatised max going off the rails with insane time travel powers.
But still. Obviously there is no way of saving Rachel,
I would like it if Max went back to save Rachel and changes everything that happened in the first game
It's not a spin-off. It's a prequel.
A prequel is a type of spin-off. It's semantics. The point is that I'm just glad it isn't the next installment because it'd be depressing to just have a new installment that was mostly a story we knew with a character I personally didn't really like.
That Two Whales Diner shirt..... I need that.
I can definitely tell the difference between the voice acting. Ashley did the voice justice for sure and I'll miss it. however, the new VA is doing Chloe justice still, and the acting isn't bad imo. She's doing a pretty good job, and the strike can't be helped.
Ah, Luke you're too adorable.
But wasn't all the story content of this game covered in the previous one. I mean wasn't that all the detective work we did in Life is Strange 1? To figure out the everything that happened a little while ago?
I loved the first game... They better not mess up the prequel.
The new music still sounds amazing!
Its also funny how Chloe used to dress exactly like Max before she went all "punk" and the Max goes sorta "punkish".
I'm on the fence about this pre-sequel. I like the time travel mechanic in the first game but this game still looks cool
