  • This is the final video in a series created from footage of Eugene Stoner and Mikhail Kalashnikov meeting in Virginia in 1990. All the footage is courtesy of the Smithsonian Institution Archives. All I have done is cut some of the waiting time between tapes out and tried to fix the audio. Otherwise, what you are seeing is entirely unadulterated.
Feel free to ask any questions about the various topics of the video in the comments. I will do my best to answer them.
All footage is used with permission from the Smithsonian Institution Archives.

Where they get into a fist fight with the guy who runs the newspaper stand only to find out he built the first goat-deployed IED. Misha gets rung by the stand owner's nephew Sam who looks oddly related to Gene somehow. Gene's kicking Akbar's ass till a wandering dementia patient trips Gene causing his wallet filled with billions of $$s and some sweet panoramic NVGs to get lost somewhere in the store as the workers of Panda Express look on laughing. 🤣 Honestly it's insane I haven't seen this footage till now this is incredible, the parts where they wish for the day when "the swords will be beaten into plows" or when Misha jokes if he and Gene worked together he'd want to make a hunting rifle. Powerful wise grandpappy vibes.

The original design for the AK-47 has a milled receiver. The stamped receiver was a concession made to reduce production costs. Kalashnikov mentions this in his explanation of the AKM in part 2. The way he said it sounded like he thought it was an even worse idea than Stoner thought the A2 "upgrades" were for the M16. The AR-180, on the other hand, was designed as a stamped gun from the beginning with the specific intention of being inexpensive.

Ger“.
