I worked in logistic for so long that stacks of boxes were normal... this game turned a warehouse and technical environment into a true horror scene. It may be scifi horror, but they knew how to flex different environments' natural phobias.

What a thread. This game is the cream of the crop from the 90's, along with Deus ex
People who turn off the music, misses this awesome Drum and Bass
dnb is life. i've listened to so much different edm and I've gone to a 100+ edm concerts and I can confirm that nothing hits like dnb. dnb has the cool factor that no other genre can replicate.
I wonder if a concert headlined by Shodan is even survivable...

i hear people often call System Shock 2's ost kinda goofy cuz of the presence of drum and bass tracks and high percussion in some of the songs, but in my opinion, i feel like these kinda work to convey a different subcategory of fear:
adrenaline.
think about it, you're running down cold metal corridors, each corner you turn more unfamiliar and harsh than the last, chased by an inconceivable evil, on a race against the clock to rid the station of the biomass before it reaches earth and destroys the entire human species. frantically pulling guns and syringes from your pockets in a rush to defend yourself from a gurgling voice creeping up behind you. your entire life from this point has become null, nothing else matters except the current fight for the death you're locked into, one that you can't afford to lose. you can't just lay down and die and think that'll be the end of it. you're the only person who can save the ship. the many might have backed you into a hard metal corner...
but they've unwittingly made themselves the path of least resistance.
If A.I. is truly successful, they too will have to learn to deal with the same basal instincts we deal with. Corner a chimp and you'll spur it to a special level of violence.
Really, no other game did this. System Shock doesn't even feel like a horror game, but it scares me better than any other horror game did

I don't think tunnels fill with radiation and mutant is the perfect place to throw a rave party, but I cannot stop dancing and hooking some hypos.
I dunno, sounds like a great place for a party to me!

@@mieszkogulinski168 Sounds fun. We don't have anything like that here, I wish we did. A lot of the clubs left where I live are bland and tired and sad, there's no charm to them.
You can tell this was made in the late 90s because it sounds like something you'd hear in a really early Toonami or Boomeraction commercial and I love it. I'll definitely be using this in a Cuberpunk Red game in the future.

@@michaelandreipalon359 it was a block of vintage action cartoons Boomerang player. Like Johnny Quesr, Space Ghost, Bird Man, the Herculoids, and Superfriends. A song just like this played during the bumpers.

@@TheEyeOfStone If you played thief 1 or 2 the forward lean is stupidly overpowered
@@kageakiminato8536 It has it's uses. I like to forward lean in thief sometimes when I'm doing full frontal blackjacking. Let's you keep just a little bit o extree distance when you throw the swing, gotta be dark but it's handy.
@@TheEyeOfStone did you know if they are searching for you and facing you the forward lean can knock them out before they see you in the dark, even on expert. Thats just way too strong in a stealth game
