Hi Ian, well done you for braving the cold weather, I will have to get myself some of those heated bits and pieces, nice ride and great views, take care ....................colin 😀
It’s a lovely little Victorian village Malcolm. A cracking pie shop, the Albion is nice for pub grub, cafe’s. It is also a good place to watch the tidal bore, though I have never seen it, and great sunsets. Oh, and Arnside chippy 😂
Evening Ian 😊 not a lot to do ? Good pubs, great fish, and chip shop and fabulous views with a train travelling over a viaduct what more could anyone want 😊 An Osmo Action 4 to film it on. That's what 👍
Morning Ian , the first bike rally I ever did was at Silverdale, in the early 70's, buggered if I can remember which bike club hosted it though? Some four wheel 🛎 end's out on your ride there eh! 😆 Glad your Dad's send of went well for you. Nice to see Clementine out , put plenty of protection on her spokes before her hibernation 👍. Cheers Mel 🍻
Thanks Mel. Yes, the loons were out in force today (look out for the return ride 😳🤬). Clementine will be getting well and truly spruced up and protected in mums garage. Cheers
Morning Ian, good to see Clementine out and about again, sounding wonderful, the weather has definitely changed now, we’ve got a covering of the white stuff ☃️😕 so no rides for a few days, good idea getting the new laptop for when you’re away, you’ll be able to keep up with your editing schedule and not end up with a load to do when you get home 😂 fingers crossed for a mild winter and dry roads, all the best buddy 👍
Thanks Mike. Just editing the return ride on Clementine, on the new laptop. Trying to get used to windows 11 is frustrating at times 🫣😂, but the rendering time is even quicker than my pc. I am sure the old laptop stored everything on slate 🤬. We haven’t had even so much as a flake of the white stuff, but boy is it cold. Cheers
Chilly but bright ideal bike for a gentle ride out .got to watch the roads especially whare they are in the shade. Heated gear definitely the way to go keeping core warm and the extremities hands and feet makes all the difference especially as we get a bit older eh .ride safe Ian 👍
Good to hear that your Dad got a well-attended send-of, Ian, though as you say, it will take time to adjust. Nice see you out and about on Clemmie again, but rather you than me in those temperatures, however - irrespective of heated socks and gloves! The poor driving's probably down to the weather; the cold's frozen the brains. 🥶
Hello Ian. I enjoyed your trip to Arnside, one of my favorite bike destinations. At 14 minutes you ask what the oncoming driver is doing. From your shadow it's clear he/she is driving up an incline and looking directly into the sun, likely reducing their view. So perhaps they added a bit of biker-friendly leeway. Nice driving.
Hi, thank you, glad you enjoyed it. Upon reflection, as I went past, I think she was looking for a particular house, but obviously with the sun it was hard to see. Most normal people, would have pulled up to the curb, and walk up and down the street, rather than just stop in the middle of the road 😂 The next video will take us to Sandside (one of our favourite places to eat fish n chips from Arnside Chippy 😎), then calling at the home of Cinderbarrow Miniature railway close to the end. Cheers
Great to see you out on Clementine those Yuasa batteries are the way to go, will only fit those to my bikes, lovely scenery glad everything has gone well for you during these difficult times can't wait for the next ride.
Nice video Ian, sorry for your loss. My late father was the Possession Manager for Rail Safe during the reconstruction of Arnside Viaduct in 2011. I've yet to visit, I'll have to sort a ride out on one of my MC's in 2025. 👍
Good to hear that all was as good as it could be with your dad Ian that you and hopefully your mum came out of it feeling ok with how it all went , I am sure there are gonna be times when things just flood back and overwhelm out of the blue as things trigger thoughts and memories .Sedate as Clementine is the sound of the engine just trundling along is quite a relaxing thing strange as it may sound 😊 a nice looking day and as per the only fly in the ointment is what else is on the road 😉👍
Hi Ian good to see you on clematine again after your running in on Scorpio and hope all went well with your family and the funiral and your time with the family. All the best to you at this time
Great to see you out on Clementine again, I would like to say you were more chilled than when you were on the Gurila but with some of those car drivers not so sure you were ! Also glad your Dads send off went as well as these things can, keep an eye on your Mum and take care 😊
Thanks Peter, we only have the next video to come before Clementine goes into mum’s garage over winter. Whilst there, she will get spruced up, as she has been a bit neglected after recent events. Yes, dad would have been pleased with his send off, mum certainly was too. Cheers
Morning Ian. What a brave man you are minus 4 . I bet it takes longer to get dressed than the ride out its self.? Glad to hear your Dads send off went well and now looking after you Mum no doubt, Thanks for the ride out on Clemantine . Ride safe, Bfn Mike , Sunny Wales .
Thanks Mike. Yes,took ages to get togged up, then the same when taking it all off again 😂. Btw, we are heading to Barmouth in Zebedee on Sunday 8th December, leaving Thursday 12th, so will try and arrange a meet up then. We do have one or two things to do while there, but I am sure we can sort something out.
@jonathanmellish4439 😂, me too. I remember one winter, going to college in Burslem (S-O-T) from Nantwich, on my CB250K4, armed with handlebar muffs . It was about 20 miles back then, 5 miles in, it started snowing, 10 miles further, deep drifts. Took me a couple of hours, including trying to get up a steep bank to arrive at college. My gloves had frozen to the bars, had to have help getting off the bike 🥶😂. Rather annoyingly, I got a rollicking for arriving late, reported to my workplace (apprenticeship), and got another rollicking when I went into work the next day. 🙄😂
Hi Ian, I'm glad your dad had a good send off, that's nice. So, it's not just me that gets a drippy nose when riding in this flippin cold weather ....... I keep meaning to design a bit of miniature guttering to collect and dispense with the offending dribbles or maybe my nose just needs a new washer fitting???? 🤣😂 Clementine is sounding good and probably the best bike for those smaller scenic lanes, those Guerrillas do like a bit more space, don't you think? 😊 Fortunately, I got my bikes run before they buried the roads under a foot of bl***y salt. On the upside, it looks like the weekend might be warming up with plenty of rain to clean off the roads, it's the only time I really look forward to rain 😁 Cheers for now, Phil (Somerset)
Ow-do Phil, yes we were all pleased so many came to see dad off. I might have inherited my dad’s “nasal drip”, he always suffered with it too. I might try and find that washer 😂. Although I agree the Guerrilla needs more space, Scorpio will have to get accustomed to it over the next few months 😂. The rain will only be a temporary fix, salt will be back down again, just to protect those without common sense 🙄 Cheers
@@ianhughesroyalenfield I'm sure Scorpio will cope admirably whilst Clementine is away on it's winter holiday 😊Yeah, they certainly overdo it with the salt around here too, a lot of it not really needed ........ if somebody leaves their fridge door open too long, they're out salting ....... madness! As I don't have power in my garage, any appropriate weather, over winter, and I'm out riding to keep the batteries topped up, well, that's my excuse 😁 Hopefully, next week might present a riding day or two 🤞Cheers, Phil
@PAGallagher 😂 that fridge quip made me giggle. As you know, both my bikes sit outside under covers. I use “Battery Tender” optimisers as they are waterproof. I house them in outside socket cases with the gubbins removed. I have wired in, double outside sockets to power them, slightly Heath Robinson, as I’m no electrician, but it does the job 🫣😂
Great vid Ian love the sound of the bike chugging away in the background nice with the sun out not many more days like that we have salt down here in Essex now and yes your like me I’m often moaning to myself at bad car drivers on the road but I wonder if I was filmed driving how many I make we all do as we get older but obviously your more vulnerable on a bike but we’re aloud to be moaning old Minnie’s take care mate ride safe
I guess we pay 12 month insurance policy here in virginia on motorcycles that I don't ever put away a bike, for a season. But I am guessing it's snowing already all over England this week. I would side line my W800 on those weeks. But the roads are always good for the Concours14. Good ride out today, did not feel cold on my end!
We also pay 12 months insurance Blake, but it’s the salt/grit which is sprayed on the roads which makes me want to put the 350 into hibernation. I will “sorn” the tax, which means I will get a refund, until it’s time to put her back on the road. Scorpio will be out all over winter though, no bare alloy cases to worry about on him. 😎
@ianhughesroyalenfield don't look at my bikes then! I buy them to ride, give them a bath at times , so I don't look homeless renegade. But I keep mine till they die, then get another. Life is to short to polish metal. Lol
Hi Ian, was that yesterday the 20th ?. I too had a ride from Preston via the A6 through Lancaster / Carnforth / Milnthorpe, and via Sandside. I was sat on the bench on the junction there where you turned left, opposite the pub on the bend, 12.20 to 1.00 pm. I was gonna wait for the bore and watch the tide coming in but was rather chilly sat there so set off back home at 1. Had I have spotted you I would have come across and said hello had we have been there at the same time. Chilly day but a great ride n the sunshine 👌
Wow, yes it was yesterday (20th). I can’t remember the exact time, but it was very close to when you were there. I know at the start I said “morning all”, but it might have been early afternoon 😂, it was still morning while I was getting geared up 🙄. You did well to sit there for that long, it was blooming cold 🥶. Shame we missed each other. Was a lovely day, I am about to start editing the ride home, not very interesting, just back via Sandside, Milnthorpe and stopping off at Cinderbarrow miniature railway, where I almost got taken out by a car driver who wasn’t looking 🙄🫣😂 (will be out next week)
haha, well I was kinda wrapped up well, I had a flask of hot tea with me, but I was a little early for the tide and 40 minutes was enough sat on that cold bench so I set off back. Some drivers though eh 🙄, you sure do need to watch em or they’ll take you out in the blink of an eye. Take care out there, and you never know, one day we might be in the place at the same time. I was sorry to hear you had lost your dad but I didn’t say anything before because it’s your private life but my thoughts are with you at this time. Do you wear them head gear under your helmet they do some good ones now , Bala claviers , I’ve bought a Marino one haven’t worn it yet but it looks nice and warm. They do some good clothing today but some times expensive. Looks lovely with the sunlight and trees and the walls 😊
