Thanks Dezmond, in the days of old, I would have been rowing a boat before the steep road, as it was all sea back then. Yes, Scorpio is brilliant, love it.
That was steep and sharpe turnings there Ian can soon catch you out and I certainly wouldn’t want to have to walk up there I would think Amazon drivers hate it great ride happy new year looking forward to a better 25 ride safe
Thanks Nicholas, any sensible delivery driver, would take the other road up, and come down this way 😂. Surely we are due some decent weather next year 🤞. All the best.
Morning Ian I attempted that same steep road on my Honda cruiser and gave up (🐓) after the bend that caught you out. I went back to the main road and took the next turn for the castle which was much easier. Keep the videos coming in ‘25. Cheers. 👍
Thanks Nick, great to know I wasn’t the only one it caught out 😳😂. Just editing a video from a short ride to top up with petrol yesterday, the roads really are mucky at the moment 😢
Morning Ian 😊 white van drivers, don't you just love them 😊 1980s was the last time I drove (and only time) my Datsun 1200FA up that mountain road and the clutch was almost cooked. We were visiting friends who had the gift shop on the corner 😊 the battery lasted well, especially in that cold whether 👍
Happy New Year to you and yours, old son! Indicators are a cost-delete option on white vans... The turrets at Harlech provide a good vantage point for seeing into the cockpit of Hawk jets; they sometimes come over the hill there at sheep-shearing height! 😉
Afternoon Chris, many thanks for all your support last year, really appreciate our chats. Once upon a time, many years ago, when I was at the top of a mountain gathering sheep, a prop trainer circled the mountain top I was standing on. The pilot waved to me, and it was a bloody awesome sight. Always stayed with me ☺️
Morning Ian, It's a steep bugger that , first time I rode up that was in the 80's on my XS1100 with my wife on the back 😅 , she said I don't want to come up that again! 😅😅 Great views from the turrets though!
@ianhughesroyalenfield 😅😅, it was on a bike club ride to Wales, there was about half a dozen of us , when we got to the top we were all laughing like hell about it , 😅😅
Nice one Ian. If I'm ever up that way, think I might leave that little excursion up to the castle off my route, certainly wouldn't want to do it on a Goldwing, that's for sure 😁 Hope you're having a good Christmas break. Cheers, Phil (Somerset)
Good (uses the term loosely ☔️) evening Phil, I would definitely suggest taking the other road up to the castle, as in Part one 😉😂. Went out on Scorpio yesterday (vid out sometime), he was covered in crap by the time we returned, so gave him a bath. 10 minutes later, back to being mint 😎. As for having a break 🤣🤣🤣. All the best, and thanks.
@@ianhughesroyalenfield Washing bikes isn't one of my favourite past times so I've been choosing my riding days carefully, yesterday and today were ok with clean roads but a bit too chilly to go far but still enjoyed the rides ....... roll on spring 😊 Ok, I'll be ready and waiting for the next vid 👍😊
There's a hill like that one in Harlech in Aberystwyth (or Llanbadarn to be precise). When I was studying there I heard it referred to as Cardiac Hill.
I see you avoided visiting Portmerion Ian, or was it closed for the winter. The view across the estuary there is spectacular. Loved the videos although those 20 zones really spoil the fun for us bikers.
To be honest Ian, I didn’t really think about going to Portmerion 🙄, maybe next year. I find those 20mph limits more of a pain because they are hard to keep to, but, they are only in places that were a 30mph limit anyway, so it’s not really a big deal.
Scorpio seems to be the perfect fit for you. An absolute beauty of a bike. Still haven't seen a Guerilla here in the US. Don't know when they are scheduled to arrive. Thanks again for the video.
If I remember correctly, the 450 Himalayans started showing up in showrooms around our area in September. (We do have the new INT 650 Bear at dealers, but as I understand it, the Bear was orignally launched in the US.) I'm not in the market for a new Guerilla, but they certainly are pretty! When they do arrive, I'll make the trip to a dealer for a peek. And, a good excuse to take a ride with friends. Happy New Year, Ian!!!
Well we don’t have the bear yet, looking forward to doing a demo ride in that, and the Classic 650. I would expect the Guerrilla to start appearing around February if our time scales were anything to go by. Definitely worth taking one out for a test ride, whether you are in the market for one or not 😂😈😂 Cheers
We can all tell how steep it is when you were using that clutch. I did a trip to Tennessee 2 years back and had similar switch backs that was very difficult with my Concours. I had to turn back around as I could not keep speed due to wrong bike for the right road. Wish I had the W800 for the side roads and the Concours to get me to my destination. 😂
Thanks Blake. Ideally, I would have liked to have taken a wider line, but as it was a two way lane, I didn’t want to run the risk of smashing head on into something ……. 😳🫣😂
Nice views, don't know how your expected to ride a motorcycle at 20 mph all over the place, it would drive me nuts. Happy new year Ian, hope 2025 is good to you
Hi Paul, fortunately the 20’s are only where the 30’s were……but still hard to stick to. Some councils are now reverting back to 30’s….what a waste of money that was 🙄. All the best to you two too 👍
Morning Dave, thank you. Amazingly enough, I have only done just over 500 miles……feels like it should be more, baring in mind how many vids I have done on Scorpio to date 🤣. Getting that extra 2k revs after the initial running in period, makes a huge difference. Also, whether it’s just me becoming accustomed to it, the throttle doesn’t feel as sensitive now. The exhaust note is also changing, in a good way. I went out a couple of days ago (video out soon), where I actually mention my surprise as to how few miles I have done 🙄. All the best to you.
@@ianhughesroyalenfield Brilliant, yes i have noticed hoe snatcy the throttle is, im hoping it will ease with mileage, mines only done 300miles at the mo, hoping for better weather and it will be more then a service. Keep up the great work and thank you
Either it is calming down, or I am getting used to it….whatever…..the Guerrilla is bloody brilliant 😎 Here’s hoping 2025 gives us some better weather 🤞
Haven’t a clue. This one is two way. When we went up Porlock Hill in our camper van in 2013, that was two way. Porlock Hill is listed as the steepest A road in the UK, with a 25% gradient in places, so this one at Harlech has to be up there, though it’s obviously not an A road.
Got that Ian 🎉
What a cracking spot for a castle. Great video and the bike looks to be a handler and make brisk progress when asked for too. Thanks Ian.

Gee that was tight & steep at 13:10 got a few 1st gear corners up in the Ranges like that tight & steep & funny angles over 1 lane bridges.
Wicked RR.
Happy new year to you and your family ✌️
Thanks Mark, all the very best to you and yours too 🎉
great riding round here - shame so many roads have been spoilt by speed limits but still, lovely terrain
Thank you. The pain in the bum 20mph limits are only in area’s that were a 30mph limit, so still plenty of scope for naughtiness 😎😂
@ianhughesroyalenfield oh yes, gold is still out there but shhh 😊

Happy New Year Ian another cracking video, that was a very sharp bend like you say nice to take wider except the risk of oncoming traffic.
