half of the struggels just nonsence to me- i am from germany where you have to work 5 minutes longer when you go 5 minutes to the toilet 3 houers are nothing i can deal with it for 6 and i am a trans*man and an anime fan and cosplayer so those gazes wont hunt me petty normal for me did you know that only when there is to much chlor in the pool or people pee in it the water will burn your eyes because of the reaction between urin and chlor (same reason why the chlor smells that srong) Lullaby Queen salt water is really safe for the eyes (when you cry its also saltwater) But it depends on the consentration and other stuff (sand and dirt that moves because of your movements)
Before I started my mermaid journey I was really scared of having my head under water, but I wanted to become a mermaid so bad, that I started out swimming with a nose plug. Now I swim comfortably with my eyes open and without the nose plug, and everytime I swim I feel so proud of what I have achieved... You can do anything

I was a competitive swimmer and diver before I became a mermaid. So a lot of the physical struggles (mostly being in the pool 24/7 and the chlorine) I have been dealing with since I was 6

I think my biggest struggle that I am slowly overcoming would be having your eyes open under water at all times and how your nose feels when swimming around.
I can deal with and overcome all the struggles except for the financial one. As a single mom and full time student, I can't even afford a fabric tail, let alone a really nice silicone one. All I can do for now is dye my hair and live the fantasy in my head.

Mermaid in the making, though my highest struggle is the issue with opening my eyes underwater, and being able to hold my breath. If there is a correct way to hold my breath underwater, can someone please briefly explain it, because I'm pretty sure I'm doing it wrong. XD
Kai Is a Trash Can When you go to breathe in, try to make sure the air not ONLY enters the chest part of your lungs but also goes into the BOTTOM of your lungs where your stomach is (Your diaphragm, I'm a singer as well as a mermaid, can't you tell? 😂😂 ) and you may find longer sustained breath holding, and another tip, when you're underwater holding your breath, CALM. DOWN. I can't tell you just HOW many times I have either seen or heard of a fellow mermaid/merman FREAK OUT or even just outright FREEZE while underwater, you need to calm down so your heart rate and everything else can settle down, that way you'd be a lot more calm and cool underwater rather than frantically scrambling around insisting to immediately get to the surface, hence creating MORE problems like cramps, sores, and so on. I really hope that helped! 😊
Check out diving, breathing exercises, breath control stuff on TH-cam. Also as a fellow Siren, I concur with Angelita 👌 practicing meditation can also be very useful, I can hold my breath for about a minute underwater when I reallly mellow out
I've wanted to be a mermaid most of my life, but in Ireland, our public pools don't allow fins of any description except if you swim with a club (Which I don't). Since then, I kinda let my dream slip away but back in September I found a professional monofin in my school pool, and I never had a better time in my life. I've got my hands on a Mahina monofin and can't wait to use it

Well it really depends on how often mermaids are hired and the competition you have in your area. I live in an area where there are no mermaids to compete with so I can reduce the price for an hour at children's parties and I am more likely to get more work since there is a city and five towns close to my town where I can expand my business to for more work. I haven't started my mermaid business yet as I don't have a mermaid tail yet. But once you work out how much other mermaids ask for children's parties and professional, social events and how often they are hired you can work out the average annual wage. In my area I have worked out I can make an average between $100k-$200k per year

To be honest there’s a lot of stress that comes with starting off a mermaid business too, especially if you’re in an area where it’s not very well heard of. There are a lot of things you have to cover and keep track of, but it’s worth it for those dedicated enough :)
DELYSVELL PEREZ well my tail is a basic silicone, which means if I pee in it the pee won’t drain away, it’ll just stay in my tail and be gross the whole time haha! Also I don’t pee in pools, I guess the sea would be different though, maybe people pee with fabric tails on? The thought has never really crossed my mind to be honest! Hope this helps 😊

Since I started mermaiding, the biggest thing I've noticed is diet. You have be aware of how food makes you feel, and eating the wrong way can make you feel heavy and tired and sap the energy you need to swim for a long time. The nice side effect, of course, if that you start eating healthier!

I have NEVER heard of any professional mermaid here, which kinda gives me an advantage in some way, but I think it will be pretty hard to find a job, specially at my age. go to amazon and you can find some really good mermaid tails for 45 to 60$ depending on the size you need I got one and it works perfectly

This video was seriously relatable oh god, especially the financial and mental parts. To be honest there’s a lot of stress that comes with starting off a mermaid business too, especially if you’re in an area where it’s not very well heard of. There are a lot of things you have to cover and keep track of, but it’s worth it for those dedicated enough :)

DELYSVELL PEREZ well my tail is a basic silicone, which means if I pee in it the pee won’t drain away, it’ll just stay in my tail and be gross the whole time haha! Also I don’t pee in pools, I guess the sea would be different though, maybe people pee with fabric tails on? The thought has never really crossed my mind to be honest! Hope this helps 😊

I must say, my mom loves mermaids, and it inspired me after reading about them, playing characters as mermaids, and if I commit now, maybe someday.... SOMEDAY I will be as good as these people XD Wish me luck

Me and my cousin can do all of those. First we practice with regular flippers. Then with the monofin. Then tail

Since I started mermaiding, the biggest thing I've noticed is diet. You have be aware of how food makes you feel, and eating the wrong way can make you feel heavy and tired and sap the energy you need to swim for a long time. The nice side effect, of course, if that you start eating healthier!

Ahh I'm 14 years old and I just bought my first fabric tail! It will be pretty hard because I live in Argentina. I have NEVER heard of any professional mermaid here, which kinda gives me an advantage in some way, but I think it will be pretty hard to find a job, specially at my age. I guess it will be training for now till I get more opportunities!
