Me too, but I'm so fearful of drowning....even when I swim like a mermaid (no tail) I can only hold my breath for thirty seconds without panicking.

I wear makeup and im a competitive swimmer,it always stays on.Eyebrow pencils are very stong against water and so is nyx eyeshadow.I also recommend maybeline lash sensational waterproof mascara

Hey, I just found it kind of sad. I've always wanted to be a merman, but I'm afraid of akin my family for a tail. I've been made fun of throughout my childhood, because I always liked the things that girls liked. But when I was a little kid, whenever we always played the Little Mermaid, I was always told "Oh, you can't be a mermaid, only girls are mermaids,", so I would always be the stupid prince. I've had similar situations throughout my life, like oh you can't do this, you can't do that. This is something that I've wanted to do since I was 3-4 years old. I find out that people have these gorgeous tails, but I'm so scared I'lll suffer the same heartache. I don't want to be a social outcast, but at the same time, why let the girls have all the fun?

How can people fault this and think it's weird? People don't identify as mermaids! It's just dressing up and swimming. It's fun. Some people do it professionally.
im one of those professionals, i love it its so much fun and making kids happy is always a great thing, I also volunteer at local hospital to just meet and talk to kids while in character. It makes me happy that I can make their day just alittle bit brighter.
NewYorkMermaid - I acted at a Ren Faire in college and it was the best summer of my life. One of the things we did was go to the local Children's Hospital all decked out in our court gear. I was a maid of honor (unmarried noble woman who helped the queen) and it was a blast helping the kids get up on the stage to see the queen while she was all decked out. (We did it down in a little theater room they had, since our costumes were worn outdoor and around animals. That way children with fragile immune systems could be kept clear of us if needed.)
Am i the only one who would think this would be a great idea for attractions at aquariums or other places of that sort? I think it would be a great alternative to animal shows and it would also be a new art form to be introduced!

It is hard to see it’s very blurry but u get used to it. As for opening ur eyes I definitely I would suggest doing it little by little for small amounts of time and soon u will be able to see water , but it will always be blurry , it just won’t hurt anymore 😊 but it does. Get better

Yeah it’s that much money because they are really good tails and she uses that for her job you can still be a mermaid though you can find tail online for an affordable price
Fully aware I might be a bit late, but if you still have this dream, then look at FinFun's tails and not on Amazon.
Amazon or Wish or really any other extremely cheap tail you find normally end up being pool toys meant to splash around in extremely shallow water with, and have monofins that cause blisters.
FinFun has safe tails and they're realistic, as well as affordable at $50 for a professional-grade monofin and $25 or so for their Mermaiden tails, and $50 for their limited edition tails. I personally have a limited Lotus Moon tail and it has yet to tear or keep my feet stuck inside them if I need to kick off the tail.

@@AvalonAnthros Absolutely. Fin Fun tails are great quality and safe. They are MOSTLY directed towards children so they have to be incredibly safe to be successful.
You can still be one. I mostly use fabric tails. And I’ve been an inspiration for guys who want to be mermen.

i don't really get all the hateful comments, it's just people having fun and living out the dreams we all had once as children. plus they were brought up on the show the Doctors and the psych they had as a guest stamped this as being very healthy because it allows for freedom of self expression, socialization and you exercise while doing it. she also commented that the burst of self confidence from the merfolk when they were playing in the water with their tails on compared to when they walked around as a human was actually also healthy for them. it isn't escapism and it keeps people fit and happy so idg all the "omg sjws!" comments esp when this doesn't comment on politics at all

Kassie Knight Coming from an experienced mermaid-actress, it did scare me a lot. I practiced in a shallow pool at first, and slowly went deeper.
Before swimming with a large tail like that, they practice with cloth tails and smaller flippers. You can see someone wearing one at 2:50. It takes a lot of work for someone to become accustomed to swimming with their legs bound, so all of these mermaids are very strong swimmers!
Silicone tails are a bit harder to control in the water than legs or fabric tails because the flukes are bigger but they are almost weightless in the water. You will not sink- your body will still be naturally buoyant. As long as you learn the dolphin kick, practice with a monofin, try using a fabric tail and NEVER SWIM ALONE, you should be able to swim in a silicone tail in no time!

Try looking into FinFun's tails, they're cheap and extremely safe for their pricing. Do not go on Amazon or Wish though, no matter how cheap they might seem. If a tail is too good to be true, then it probably is.
You can just get the monofin for $40, which you can safely kick off in the event of an emergency.
The price of their more basic tails is $40 as well, but they're stunningly realistic and have a nice variety of colors. If you don't feel like any colors fit your style, look at the limited edition tails for special effects like sparkles or glowing in darkness. And if you really feel like it, you can order an entirely custom tail for $100, still $300 less than some other pure-custom tails that I've seen.

you can do it just for fun too :) There are tail skins and Monofins for less than 100 bucks on the market. Finfun for example makes great tails for casual swimming.

Keep in mind kids, Sillicone tails weight and cost alot.. My sillicone tail took about 4 swims in the shallow end before I could go deeper because it was So heavy! It took me a year to save up 1,000 dollars.

NC Mer-Mania is held in Greensboro, NC. We welcome tails of all kinds; silicone, fabric, neoprene, etc. Mermaids and mermen of all ages are welcome, though we do have an evening event where alcohol is served, so adult supervision would be preferred. Very well applied waterproof makeup! I did an underwater shoot recently and only one part of my makeup came off (which wasn't as well sealed as the rest) while my eye makeup and lipstick were still like fresh for hours after.

For somebody who doesn't swim well, the thought to having your legs restrained and to swim as well as they do sounds overwhelming. What these people have committed themselves to is a true and beautiful talent. I love it
I'm pretty sure it cost a lot or something but if these people have the right training they can probably use those Mermaid tales used in Mako Mermaids and H2O. Imao those tails were the best and so real looking.

The tails made for H2O are a lot heavier then the silicone tails. The only reason is because there is also a lining of waterproof material under the silicone that is layered over the top. Plus each scale was individually placed on the tail. Those tails would cost way more then $5k is someone were to make those kind of tails.

I have a mono fin and the galaxy cover for it which I get so many questions about from little girls when I go swimming and it is so fun the only problem I can’t open my eyes underwater and I need goggles
I'm a mermaid in a small Tx town! I read to the kids at the library and schools and I also come to birthday parties to surprise them! It's like being a princess at a kids party. I read to them and I teach them about the ocean.
I want to be able to do this but the only problem is that I can even hold my breath for more than 12 sec

That can be fixed! Luckily, breath-holding is a skill you can develop with practice, and you can practice it pretty much anywhere. Just be safe
some people can hold it for more than a minute and i can only hold it for 45 seconds

ocean is basically the same, but if you are near the shore then it can be all sandy and it can get in your eyes
