That SHO Knouff! FUNKY! I used to wear that out on the jukebox back in the day! I remember back in high school there was a piano in the classroom and I used to get down on that particular jam had all my classmates singing! “ we’re gonna have a funky good time”♥️🎶🎶🎶🎶♥️💯
@@SoulOnTopJB The Pointer Sisters and BB King 1974 entire performances were on TH-cam a good while ago. Perhaps something to do with JB estate and rights. Maybe one day
Fantastic performance of the song! At this time he was still doing it basically like the studio version, and a lot of it was spontaneous. In a few years later it got reduced to a robot like performance with no spontaneity at all. I wish you would’ve kept this arrangement or something similar.
@@PaulDA2000 I have to agree. However, one thing that I loved about the House Of Blues DVD version is that it was much closer to the '74 groove than the '80s Rapp Payback groove.
Prince was keepin James Brown's Funk Legacy alive and there's was two then keepin the One alive and James Brown's legacy alive it was Bootsy and Prince, R.I.P. ; James Brown= Godfather of Funk and Creator of Funk and Prince
I appreciate the editing but I wish I could find the original video recording of Doin it to death at the Zaire concert. Saw the performance on the Ali v Foreman documentary - When We Were Kings
How did you get footage that isn't in the documentary? I know you can hear the audio from the whole concert but I didn't know there was footage of the missing songs
This is the absolute best version of this song. Period.
The funk oozes here for sure.
cant be/ no maceo parker
Fred Wesley! My fav T-bone player of all time! His solos are just superb! “Take us up, Fred!”
Dude his playing is insane! Sends me into another world bro!👌🤭🤟
FRED!!!!!❤
Love it thank you Mr James Brown
What power and energy! It must have been astonishing to actually witness that live.
My favorite version of "Doing it to death ".
Lord have mercy that African dancer
Yeah I know 😁😁
They were twerking back in '74

The back and forth vibe in the footage is genius!!!!! Well done!!
A bit of a challenge when the available footage is less than a minute long 😁 👍
Great show of James Brown i lov it the best of the best of soul and funky music and dance

That James Brown music is so great I love it.
Everybody is dancing and enjoy it
His band is smoking hot.
I wish the whole of the Zaire 74 concert was released.
The version from the 1974 ABC in concert just beats this live version in my humble opinion 🤣🤣
Not going to happen, the guy who shot 400 hours of Zaire footage, struggled to get Soul Power released 15 years after the event.

'74 was the pinnacle for JB
Yeah I agree, Payback, Damn Right 👍

@@modernretroradio993 Now wait I’m confused. This song on here is “doing it to death” but you’re talking about “rapp payback” and “the payback”?
@@PaulDA2000 Wh'oops...I watched both songs on this channel today. LOL! Your point stands, nonetheless!
Happy Heavenly Birthday Soul Emperor! ( May 3rd) 👑 🎂 🎶 💃

I wouldn't say Prince was keeping the funk alive, his music was more pop orientated.
Great footage!
Un concert mémorable dans mon pays Zaïre à l'époque, République Démocratique du Congo aujourd'hui.

Is he saying come fight me ? At the beginning
Where is this version of Doing It To Death from?
Zaire bootleg
From the documentary ; “When We Kings” filmed in Zaire covering the much hyped “Rumble In The Jungle” Ali vs. Foreman
He was in Funkadellic by then ???
Do you have a decent quality video of James Brown's "ABC In Concert" performance from this same year?
I don't have the full show, only snips
@@SoulOnTopJB That's among my JB holy grails.
@@modernretroradio993 There are decent copies around in the hands of collectors.
