So, in other words, Curtis Axel spent in the Royal Rumble through the 60 minute mark for over a year until he was eliminated in 2016. 😂

You have to enter the ring to enter the match, technically he didn't even enter so can't be eliminated

Heath Slater eliminating Sheamus in 2018 was pretty shocking and hilarious. After he was kicked around and force fed pancakes before being even able to enter, Sheamus was the first to help Slater in and in return, was eliminated in 2 seconds.
A forgotten moment from one of the best Rumble matches ever.
Worst of all, that day was actually Sheamus Birthday 😂

Honourable Mention: R Truth eliminates both Mark Henry and Big Show at the same time in the 2010 Royal Rumble.

That rumble with Cena and Batista is one of those “couldn’t do it again if you tried” situations. I thought for the longest time that that was a planned finish when it was really just an amazing mistake

If there's a match to anticipate for the year , this IS The Royal Rumble ( although the introduction of War Games in the WWE landscape provides a very nice alternative ) . I love this match to bits and EVERYTHING it involves . It really is THE BEST gimmick WWE ever thought .
War games has saved suvior series. It’s one of the few gimmick matches that works best set to a ppv, much like elimination chamber. Assuming they keep putting on good matches with solid stakes I fucking love it

How could you not mention Drew McIntyre eliminating Brock Lesnar in 2020. It was surprising and Drew leveled up big time after that moment!
I love that Rumble and still rewatch it every now and again. Brock just dominated the whole thing while he was there and one of the best moments is when Shelton Benjamin comes out and you can see how happy Lesnar is to see his old Minnesota Stretching Crew partner/roommate...that pop when Drew eliminates him...awesome.
Cause we all saw it coming.

The Vince furious tearing his quad thing was hilarious. They could have had a PPV match to decide the winner and sell even more PPV tickets. # 1 most shocking should have been the only man capable of eliminating Randy Savage being himself so he did it.
Two honorable mentions: 1, Mil Mascaras eliminating himself in the 1997 Royal Rumble. 2, Bret Hart and Lex Luger eliminating each other in the 1994 Royal Rumble and then being named co-winners with both getting shots at Yokozuna's WWF title at WrestleMania in 1994.
Funny thing is WWE forgot their "both feet much touch the ground" rule with the 2005 Royal Rumble accident. When you watch it, Batista's feet actually hit the ground first. John's left foot hits later
Considering that’s the way they wanted it to go, makes Vince blowing quads all the funnier. Could have been avoided altogether. 😂

An honourable mention to Rikishi eliminating The Undertaker in 2001; I watched it (aged 13) and always remember how big of a reaction it received from the audience 🙂
Hmm, it makes one wonder if the Undertaker's elimination of Rikishi in the 2002 Royal Rumble match was retaliation for being eliminated by Rikishi in the 2001 Royal Rumble match. Rikishi was in his heel "Bad Man" gimmick in the 2001 Royal Rumble match, while Undertaker was in his "American Badass" gimmick, with long hair, of course(with Limp Bizkit 's "Rollin'" song as his entrance theme), while in the 2002 Royal Rumble a year later, the roles were switched with Undertaker in his "Big Evil" & "You will respect me" heel phase, along with very short hair that I never thought I would see on the Undertaker, while Rikishi was a returning babyface.

It's kinda sad that despite being the Royal Rumble equivalent of Taker at WrestleMania, Kane never won a rumble

Maven's Royal Rumble was one of the only PPVs I got to see as a kid and when Maven dropkicked Taker out of the ring, me and my cousins LOST it

Yokozuna Eliminating Macho Man Royal Rumble '93, Mr. Mcmahon Eliminating Austin Rumble '99, Maven Eliminating Taker Back In 2002 I Remember That Look On The Deadman's Face You Can Tell That He Wouldn't Some Tough Enough Rookie Get Away With This And Stone Cold Eliminating Kane At Royal Rumble 2001.
I will always remember the Mr. Socko vs the Cobra battle at the royal rumble. I mean I was there to see it live. Best dream match ever.

@josephsnider8190 no one "needs" the crazy save spot. It has NEVER amounted to anything, other than a cool highlight or two, because Kofi would always be eliminated within the next minute.
The spot for a crazy save only makes sense if you actually WIN from it. Otherwise it's an empty accolade.

Hogan's bullshit at the 92 Rumble still pisses me off to this day. That should've been a defining moment for Ric Flair, but it got overshadowed because Hogan couldn't let the show end without it somehow been about him
I’d love it if they let someone win that absolutely no one on earth expects
I doubt it'll ever happen because winning puts you in the Mania main event. It'd be different if it was the pre-92 days where a RR win was just a congratulations. Maybe one day Roman or some other uselessass part timer will be too lazy to show up at Mania and the Rumble can stop giving a title shot and then it'll be possible again. We can hope (especially for the part about fewer part timers)

One of the first places my mind went was Batista eliminating Shawn Michaels from the 2010 Rumble. I remember the build to that one, EVERY sign pointed to Michaels winning the thing, it seemed like a forgone conclusion.
Good thing he _didn't_ win, mind you. It made for a better story, in the long-run.

I was there for the Undertaker elimination in 2002. What they don't tell you is that The Taker went back in, eliminated Maven, and then beat the gell out of him all around the arena. We thought Maven was murdered that night.
Undertaker was in his "Big Evil" & "You will respect me or I'll make ya famous" heel phase at that time. The Undertaker's murderous ass whipping of Maven was truly one hell of an instance of the Undertaker being "Big Evil."

Taka getting thrown out of the 2000 royal rumble and landing on his face was pretty shocking.
He wasn't actually in the match, he and funaki were thrown over about 3/4 times but yeah the way his head hit the ground was brutal

Fun Fact: Maven never got eliminated.
He did, though. Take threw Maven through the ropes first, but then he threw him back into the ring and eliminated him properly over the top rope. This happened right after Scotty 2 Hotty entered the Rumble match (and after that nasty chair shot).
Kane eliminating Santino wasn't shocking. It was just quicker than expected. Should have gone with R-Truth tossing Big Show and Mark Henry at the same time

Even before watching, I knew that Undertaker's elimination by Maven would be no. 1. 🤣 Also, Muhammad Hassan's elimination in 2005 by every other Raw and Smackdown star in the ring who ganged up on him would be on my list.

Sorry but as a worker myself, there's no way that the '05 Rumble double elimination was NOT a work. Why would Batista hoist Cena up for a powerbomb with his back touching the ropes? Even if him turning & powerbombing Cena out was the plan, it gives too much risk for Cena to counter & eliminate Batista.
