  • Dr. Roy Casagranda walks into the minefield of race and representation! To erase to not to erase? How should Cleopatra VII be represented in film?
Also how much do you love our new amazing background!?!?! Just looking at it makes me feel like inclusion exists.

Watching the Palestinians slowly being erased from history is depressing the hell out of me and making me incredibly anxious. Like a lot of people i feel helpless but your content, Roy, is the only thing helping me through this period. As soon as my children are old enough i will tell them to watch your content to counter the school history brainwashing. Your Brit bashing makes me laugh out loud and helps me forget the seriousness of life. You are the Dave Chapelle of academia. Big thanks from the UK.

I like his material, he does not vilify North African, Middle Eastern and southern European culture, but put it’s into context. I am half Egyptian, half Karelian, Dutch and French educated and have been called many names or cultures… but the reality is mostly in the middle. It should not be cheap tribalism, the reason why is that Western civilisation does not start after Rome or the renaissance, it started much earlier in the Mediterranean area and western Asia and it was wide color pallet and much more inclusive, albeit for various wars (but hey that’s humanity for ya)
    Looking forward to more lectures

Just made a post about this the other day. This is an oft-neglected part of continuing genocides, by erasing their histories, rewriting their histories, and deliberately obfuscating them for nefarious reasons.
It's vile and lowly but it's real and it happens. In any situation of the oppressor vs the oppressed, you can see this dynamic being played. It's mad.

Superior multicultural erudition and a keen sense of historical justice the overall Western sense of history is not familiar with, -- mostly deliberately--due to deeply rooted prejudice and the fascistic idea of denigrating what is relevant and enlightening about other nonwestern cultures such as the Islamic and Native American cultures among many others. I have so much respect and admiration for the integral character and impartiality of Professor Casagranda, whose heart, mind, and soul are truly a grand and open house for all to learn from!

In 1984 I was a student on a 3 week group field trip to study the geology of the Four Corners area of the southwestern US. After the professor made fun of Native Americans, we arrived at Shiprock, a geologic formation in New Mexico. Our professor mentioned that it was a sacred site for the local native population. Then everyone began to climb on it. Except for me. I just couldn't bring myself to engage in such a disrespectful activity. I'm not virtue signalling here. I am saying that I've had one less thing to regret all these years because I didn't. I thought bare decency and respect required me to not trespass.

In the Australian Army. I was told a rather amusing story about the Submarine Crews during WW2. The Americans had to build showers in their subs because they sweat and smell. The Japanese never needed to build showers, they could just keep clean by washing themselves with water towels because the Japanese don't have smelly sweat glands. It's an amusing story for me because my family said the British troops in Greece during WW2 were pretty smelly filthy pigs. In Egypt, Libya, and Persia, they also said the same, that the American British French troops were smelly people.

I have stopped caring about racism by realizing that it's natural. The stronger out breed and dominate the weaker. This is the nature of the world. Fighting this is as foolish as trying to fight gravity. You can overcome it a little, but it only lasts for a little while and takes a whole lot of energy.

Professor, FINALLY!!!!! I have been checking your channel almost every day for WEEKS waiting for you to upload again. We have so many charlatans uploading every day - you have a responsibility to upload more often. If I had your knowledge, wisdom, and charisma I’d be uploading lectures every day. DEFEAT THE CHARLATANS!!!!!!! God bless you.

Fun fact: David Lean did try to cast Indian Great Dilip Kumar for the role of Ali but Dilip Kumar declined the role and it went to Omar Sharif. So, they did try to do it without any Arab.

Offtopic: I have a question- Is there any correlation between one side there was a protestant movement on the other hand in the Muslim community there was Imam Ghazali. What do you think about this.
