    In Central Florida I plant the bulbs in August after I purchase them from the Caladium Festival. They are popping up in a week-10 days. They last until mid-November. I don't dig up most of them. They return in April and May and last again until mid-Nov. Did I mention that they multiply? It's a win-win. They do draw Whitefly, but nothing major.

      Not really. They start fading when leaves are going to die. Yes I fertilize them weekly when I fertilize my orchids with orchid fertilizer. Like I mentioned mine are either in full sun or partial depending on color and part of garden but none in complete shade

    I love Caladiums. My very favorite combo is "Frog In A Blender" mixed with Florida Elise or with Flamingo Caladiums. They do well here in N. Texas, which surprises me in this heat, but they grow like weeds for me. Being from New York, gardening in Texas is a whole other story. Over the years of trial and error, I have a handful that do well here, but it took a long time to figure out what works, and what doesn't. Caladiums never fail , nor do Purslane. Purslane I stand all around the pool deck in large saucer planters and they are just a total burst of color. I no longer grow plants that take constant care, because some plants here, if you miss one day of water , they're gone. Too much time spent . Like they told me in a nursery when I first moved here, stick with native plants otherwise you're just wasting time and money. It's so true.

      @oliviaburge3479 3 ปีที่แล้ว

I would probably plant them on the back side of the house next year if I do it again but I absolutely love them the colors are amazingly beautiful. I look forward to these!

    I'm outside of Atlanta and caladiums are grown all over the place! I think gardeners in GA and FL like them so much because of the many different varieties and because they take heat and humidity like a champ. It's been my experience that some of the sun-tolerant caladiums planted in the landscape perform better with a bit of slow release fertilizer like Bulb-Tone--mine seem to grow taller and have bigger leaves. But, yes, if you keep them well watered they grow like crazy!

    I would find hearing issues that are affecting other areas. For example Emerald Ash Borer or Japanese Beetles. There is such a broad group of people watching that could learn. You never hear about it until it’s to late. I love all your tips and tricks. But once once you loose 3 huge ash trees and have all your leaves eaten off your rose bushes, it’s devastating.
    They both are moving across the country. One tip about the beetles chickens do love to eat them! Free protein and the traps are easy to clean out.
    Thank you for all you do! You are delightful to listen to! I have saved and gone back several times to remember what you have said.

    This gives me a great idea to bring my plants indoors. To save money by wintering over inside is a challenge .
