Prettier than any poinsettia ever dreamed to be. The person at Proven Winner that came up with this idea really needs a gold STAR. The plants are beyond beautiful. An outstanding grower. They look so pretty in your home. And it is money well spent.
I would love for you to give me the tricks of growing a lemon plant inside and then what do I do when it starts to get bigger and what kind of soil fertilizer and whatnot that I need I've tried one and it came out started great and now it is just not good and I put a grow light on it because of the weather and it still didn't help it's still just I got leaves falling off on one lemon plant stalk there's two stalks in the plant and I got one stalk the leaves are falling off all brown and the other stalk are all nice and green I was wondering if you could help me out
Ive got an 8 year old poinsettia tree that i received as a struggling baby as a gift from work. Blooms every year for me and stands a good 3 feet tall. Every year it gets better looking and i learn more about her care.
Laura, some of those caladiums remind me of elegant begonias with the leaf markings! They look so festive in the corner of your great room! Excited about all the new caladiums coming out for spring.
These are staples here in Alabama and I just love them! However, until l saw your photo on Instagram the other day of the one in that beautiful iron container did I ever consider using them in place of a poinsettia. I even commented that. I’m so glad you did this video! A new staple for me in the house and not just outside. ❤️😊
Ohhh what a lovely video for my coffee with Laura today! Thank you for sharing these Caladium's they are all so pretty but I have to say I love that deep red one so may have to do some shopping!!
This was my first year planting the bulbs. I put some in the ground and some in pots in the house. I put the ones in the house on a heating pad and set it in front of a window. The ones I had in the house came up way sooner than the ones outside. The ground has to really warm up before they will come up. All came up beautifully! They were so, so easy to take care of. Well, I did absolutely nothing to any of them. Rain storms did not cause them to collapse, as I aniticipated. They all just grew and stayed there and looked the same until fall. The ones I planted in the ground were in areas I did not think anything would grow because it is really wet and moldy, but as I said, they all came up perfectly. I highly recommend them. Also, I had a few pop up in the sunniest area of my flower gardens. How they popped up on the other side of the house, I will never know. I dug some of them up and put them with the rest of them; however, the one I left in the sun did fine.
The love heart shape of the caladiums great for Valentine’s, and a great alternative to the poinsettia. The display was beautifully paired with your tree. Happy Thanksgivings Laura, Aaron, Benjamin, Russell, Cheddar and the girls.
What a beautiful alternative for Christmas décor. Caladiums are some of my favorites. I would have never thought of using them for Christmas as an alternative to Poinsettias. Laura can you just gave me some great ideas. I can't wait to see if I can actually find a few to add to my Christmas décor!!!
Wow those are pretty!! 😍 The original species (Caladium bicolor) is actually native to where I live(Assam) and i have it growing into a beautiful mound of colour 💚💚
They are so beautiful. I especially love the bright red one. Didn’t expect to see a video today but was very happy there was one. Enjoy the holiday with your love ones and we will see you soon. ❤️
I love that your parents garden center is open all year round. Most of the ones in my area, northern Indiana, are closed for the season. All I have now is Walmart and Home Depot
So wonderful that you’re spotlighting caladiums! Down here in the gulf coast, I don’t need to lift them in the winter & they still reliably come up in late spring. I love how you are thinking outside the box in terms of holiday plants. Here in my area another alternative is the beautiful cyclamen, which come in beautiful colors.
Amèn Jessica. All of these caladiums are beautiful! If I had to choose I would choose, Fast Flash, white wonder & dawn to dust. I will get me some next year God willing. Laura, they all compliment your home❤
Caladium plants are truly beautiful 🤩....the veining, colour, shape of leaves, size & easy care! Definitely a winner in my books! However, many stores don’t carry large stocks of plants as we are in lockdown where I live 🥺😟...so I cannot buy any! I would love the white green & red white varieties! 🤞
Hi Laura Great video 😊. I just got a box of Caladiums 36 bulbs. I’m here in Sacramento CA. I plan to put them in two pots on my shaded patio. I pray they will look as beautiful as yours. They should start blooming in June. I can enjoy them all summer until late fall. I wouldn’t have ever considered Caladiums if I hadn’t seen yours. Thank you Blessings 🙏🏾
I have grown caladiums outside in planters and in the ground, and they are gorgeous plants! I am so glad you are promoting them as a house plant over the winter. Next time I need to go shopping, I'll definitely try to find some caladiums to plant inside! Thanks, Laura! ~Margie
Thank you for all these videos on flowers and plants I have learned so much from them! Laura I bought a lot from proven winners! Ty!💐💙 much appreciated .
I can't believe us growers & sellers didn't think of this before! Even in the south, it takes bottom heat & many weeks to get Caladiums going for late spring sales. Now, growers can capitalize on late summer/ fall natural heat to push these along. No doubt, they'll be much easier & longer lasting than picky poinsettias! I won't probably get any this year but sure will grow some for next Christmas!
I've always been a "flower" person & so never a huge fan of these. But I'm slowly starting to appreciate foliage plants & really liked these when you first showed them. I would SO buy one of these this Christmas season if I could find them!
I really like caladiums and enjoyed all your comments. You truly are a wealth of knowledge and your presentations (so natural) are easy to follow. I am looking for different types I want to plant (inside & out) when I move. Thank you so much. God bless
Interesting. Well I brought mine in. They were all in pots all summer. I’m in humid Michigan. I brought them in in September and continued to water them but a little less often. I waited 7-10 days vs 5-7 days. But the leaves were dropping. I’m in a bright home with windows everywhere as well as sky lights so anything liking bright indirect light will thrive. But they all died back. Then I read it was because they go dormant in winter. So I’m very confused. I was doing what you’re hoping to do but mine didn’t make it. And I love these plants. I had also read the soil should be well draining and to mix some sand or perlite in so I did. I figured since they’re a rhizome plant or bulb like that I had to be careful with water. I checked them with a moisture meter even so as not to over water. I’m so confused! Please keep us posted on yours.
Awwww 🥰 Thank You So Very Much for this Video. I totally forgot how Beautiful Caladiums Are, Ya Know I found you This past Spring when I Bought my first Lemon Tree, when I searched imfo on Care for it😁 I have Learnt so Much from you this Year. My Deck Garden has been Awsome thanks to you 👍 I do have some Concerning questions about My Lemon Tree 😭 it lost 60 % if it’s leaves N my House (after being repotted & under a Grow light) I need to know if I snip off the Naked Branches ? Or will leaves grow Back ? We repotted it again last week & the leaves Stopped falling off 👍 My poor lemons are still Hanging on, LoL- on Branches with NO leaves . God Bless your Beautiful Family . Xoxo, Susan from Alabama 👍🤗🥰🎅 11-24-2020 Happy Thanksgiving 🦃🍁🍽
You have such a unique fireplace. Have you thought of putting timed candles in there if you are not going to be using it a lot . Also I had a 5 Caladium plants in full sun ( southeast NC) and they did great. Love your channel, ideas and just everything. Thank you for sharing Benjamin seeing his tree brought back fond memories of my boys when they were young. oh FYI our Dollar Tree has those nutcrackers again this year. Happy Thanksgiving.
I’ve seen a few video using caladiums for Christmas and your explained the plant and it’s care so much BETTER! Thank you. We leave our bulbs in the ground here year round in central Texas, but this is a great idea! Your home is just gorgeous. God bless. 👏🏻💕👏🏻
I just watched the new highlights video and this popped up. I am already having a great day😃 Safe, restful and Happy Thanksgiving Laura and your beautiful growing family!!
For anyone in Dallas north Carolina area ,creekside nursery was selected to grow these caladium for the holiday season and have then for a short time in the middle of December, happy holidays all
This is a great idea! Poinsettias are nice but I always over- or under-water them. With caladiums I can just water them. I'm going to try this, if I can find them around here. I'll need to check the garden centers.
I live in Central Florida. Caladiums are a landscape plant for me. They do go dormant even before any cold comes. I have guessed that it is a light hours. When they go dormant...I guessed again... that the bulbs grow. They begin again in June when the humidity is high and rains dependable. I will be curious also if as indoor Christmas plants they go through this process. Maybe they will go dormant from February through June. In that case ...yes a gorgeous Holiday addition.
I agree.. how beautiful they are.. such a gorgeous display of color. I really really love the fast flash 😊 thanks for sharing and have a “Happy Thanksgiving “🦃
This year I grew "Red Flash" caladiums outside in full sun in upstate NY and they were amazing! I dug them up and am trying to overwinter them to plant outside again next year. This proved to me that some of the new varieties really are more sun tolerant as they claim. Time to try even more varieties next year!
My my, you picked all the prettiest ones. The red-veined on dark green + pink blotches one on the table right at the start and the pink-white-green ones on the sides are my favorites. But in combinaison with other Caladium or other plants, the white+green margin can do wonders. Waiting for garden centers to sell them when it warms up a bit here. I do recall years ago some big garden center recieved a batch of a single nice cultivar in the Winter. Did fantastic in their greenhouse, but very cold Winter means our houses' air is so dry from all the heating, they don't stay nice for long in a house when grow out-of-season like that. You also can't just keep humidity much higher than 35% without the windows dripping from condensation when it's -15C and under, with the occasional -30C. Thank you for showing those nice plants.
P.S : I got my hands on a potted Caladium Frieda Hemple last year and kept it as a houseplant in a sunny West facing window. In the Fall the leaves died. I unpotted and kept the tubers ( which had more or less stayed the same size ) at room temperature before planting them again in early April, and all the tubers from the original pot grew back. They are also blooming. Totally worth it.
I don’t wouldn’t want to get my hopes up - hiiiiigh humidity but zone 4 - northwoods WI - but I would ALL DAY LONG do those caladiums along with poinsettias for winter and give a good heave-ho for a summer plant. They are beautiful! 😍
I'm also in zone 4 ( au Québec ) and kept one as a house plant. It did fanstastic in a sunny West-facing window ( I have the AC though, likely helped prevent leaf burn ). In Fall the leaves died. I unpoted the tubers and kept them at room temperature untill I replanted them in April and they grew back and bloomed. This is a nice ''life cycle'' because it would be too dry during the Winter anyway.
I just contacted my local garden center and learned that I should have shopped for caladiums in September. 😩 I guess I will order some in the spring. 😊 I LOVE your TH-cam channel!!!
Love Russell's photo bomb sniffing the lemon cypress. I have to say as my birthday is in December; I have never been a fan of poinsettias, but I do love the caladiums. I just tried for the first time last winter and I love the look and I find them way easier to continue on than the "other" plant. Thank you for showcasing them Laura!
Your Caladiums are gorgeous, Laura. I’ve been growing them for 30 years or more. There is one called Christmas, white with a little red. They like temps 70 or above and they do condensate, at least here they do. So be careful where you place them to protect you wood top tables.
Thk you Laura its so nice to see dat u r showing up plants dat are love n cherish in my neck of d world in d caribbean we love those plants they beautiful especially at xmas time put them as decoration.
I've loved watching updates from Jenny and Jerry at Creekside Nursery as they've been growing Caladiums for Proven Winners' Christmas displays. I'm so glad you're able to feature the end product of these gorgeous plants. I like them so much more than poinsettias. I just hope I can find one at my local garden center!
Aaron, although I LOVE Laura, your photography is sooo stunning and a huge reason of your success. Without it your channel would not be so special. I was tempted to skip this video as I thought I knew all about this product and it was just so delightful. A feast of beauty and joy.
I had two White Wonder Caladiums this year, They are easily in the top three favorite things I had on 2020. I am in a 7b, I dug them out in late October, let them dry out then put them in paper bags. I usually have pretty good luck overwintering caladiums, so I hope they come through.
Wow these flowers are so beautiful. I have an unrelated question. Do you remove some videos from TH-cam? For example, I cannot find the video where you made some chocolate fudge and other goodies. I think at your parents' home....
Love how u placed & potted them I so love caladiums the one bonus of living on gulf coast they are a no worry plant here overwinter in garden great!! ❤️
wow!! what a great idea for christmas!! so many varieties!! i always thought caladiums were fussy and hard to grow but these new varieties are exciting, and i can't wait to get my hands on some... i know exactly what you mean about the vintage look of the one - just old-fashioned in a way.. some of them look like the painter spilled his paints on them, and the vintage one looks like it has pieces of velvet on it...they look gorgeous in your house!!! i LOVE them!!!! hoping i can find some out my way... :)
LAKE PLACID FL is the Caladium Capital of the world. You should visit.... It is amazing. Many, many Caladium farms located in this small town. I live in North Florida but have visited many times. 🌞🌦️
Prettier than any poinsettia ever dreamed to be. The person at Proven Winner that came up with this idea really needs a gold STAR. The plants are beyond beautiful. An outstanding grower. They look so pretty in your home. And it is money well spent.
I gree. Just over the Poinsettias
Was never a big fan of Caladiums until seeing some of the varieties that you have planted. They are really pretty!!
Hi everyone will you please check my new lithops propagation video
My grandma planted caladiums in her garden every year, always had one in the house . She clean he leaves all most ever day
Caladiums just blow me a way every time I see them. How can a plant be that beautiful and colourful.
Caladiums are beautiful never thought of them as Christmas before but definitely see the connection
I agree and they are gorgeous!!

That Fast Flash is gorgeous. The whites in the light colored pots are stunningly subtle. They all look beautiful near your tree.👼
Look out Poinsettias there’s a new sheriff in town, his name is Caladium.
LOL!
@@themamabearlife3339 Agree 100%. I am so tired of poinsettias and the caladiums are even prettier! It will be interesting to see if they take off!
greetings from singapore .. we are lucky as we are tropical country, the plant will not go dormant ! thank you for sharing

Wow, it's so beautiful that my heart is pounding the whole time I see it.
Prettiest plants I have seen today.I need to get some Angel Wings too now.
The 'Dawn to Dusk' reminds me of tartan plaid (a favorite Christmas look).

Laura can you just gave me some great ideas. I can't wait to see if I can actually find a few to add to my Christmas décor!!!
I water mine with the water from my fishtanks, when I do a partial water change...... they absolutely love it!
What beautiful plants to give that instant splash of colour & so festive 🎄✨
Lol, that's cute, she asks Aaron to put the big pot on the table because it is heavy and then we see her putting it on a table in the house. ❤️
I think it was because she would have had to come around the table.
I love these plants....I can picture them mixed with pointsetia's....I love the white one in the pot that looks like a birch stump....just beautiful
Wow those are pretty!! 😍 The original species (Caladium bicolor) is actually native to where I live(Assam) and i have it growing into a beautiful mound of colour 💚💚
LOVE THIS VIDEO because I wondered why every single time I'd see a Caladium, I'd think of Christmas and Poinsettias !! I'm not alone! :)
That White Wonder is so striking in its simplicity; so merry and bright. I'll never look at poinsettias the same way again. ~ Lisa
They are so beautiful. I especially love the bright red one. Didn’t expect to see a video today but was very happy there was one. Enjoy the holiday with your love ones and we will see you soon. ❤️
They looked so beautiful grouped together with the xmas tree Simply Lovely,😚🦃💐💞🌹🥰

I think planting them in with poinsettias would be really pretty, especially when the leaves start yellowing.
Beautiful healthy caladiums. So is Aaron sitting like on the floor🤣
Inquisitive to see back of the scenes view😉
never thot of caladiums as a christmas plant, but these are a nice change from the holiday poinsettia.
Poinsettias are poisonous to pets and children too. Caladiums are safe.
@@BonnieBlue2A
Actually, Caladiums are not safe! They're toxic to dogs, cats, and horses.
We used to plant these all over our yard when we lived in San Jose, Calif. I even had them planted in our covered patio and they did great.
Amèn Jessica. All of these caladiums are beautiful! If I had to choose I would choose, Fast Flash, white wonder & dawn to dust. I will get me some next year God willing. Laura, they all compliment your home❤
Wow! Those caladiums in your beautiful pots are so elegant.
I love caladiums. They are easy to grow. Either mist them or run a humidifier to increase humidity.
I accidentally watched the Proven Winners video first. Still had to come here for the “real deal” LOL. Love these in the Unique Stone planters!
Teresa Goins I to saw the Proven Winners video. Hey it's Laura, no problem watching again.
So pretty Laura. I can't wait to track some down. Thank Yall n have a blessed couple days off hanging with family
I love the antique marble top buffet that you styled. It's gorgeous.

Love the versatility of the Caladiums now.
So lovely! Can’t wait for growers in my area to get the message: CALADIUMS for Christmas! ♥️🎄

Love the Caladium swap from Pointsettas and my favorite was Mesmerized. The colors brought out a strong textural feel - like a slice of watermelon.

There's no mistaking the caladium colours. I'm not a fan of poinsettia so thank you for sharing.

I love them as a house plant. The leaves got so huge and beautiful.
I would much rather use these as Christmas plants so that I have them year round. Beautiful!
They’re all so beautiful! I hope to find that mesmerized one in my area. I usually like the white color scheme but that one is really pretty.
those are stunning....the white is my favorite. looks like paint splashed on the leaves..
Beautiful! Thanks for showing us all the varieties. Move over poinsettias! I'm adding to my collection!
I never thought about using caladiums for Christmas. I love the idea
I want these as house plants. They’re gorgeous.
I never would have thought of caladiums this time of year!! I’ll have to bring them inside next fall instead of wintering the tubers
The fast flash is absolutely beautiful
I love the White Wonder! It is my favorite. Then I like the Dawn to Dusk.
Oh the gorgeous choices! My mind is whirling Christmas! I hope some of our local nurseries carry these in Reno, Nevada! I'm getting excited!
Love how u placed & potted them I so love caladiums the one bonus of living on gulf coast they are a no worry plant here overwinter in garden great!! ❤️
Beautiful for inside. The one with white looks like a syngonium I have ... so easy to care for a grows like a beast.
Now I see those in a different light! I will probably get a couple for Christmas. God bless.
Hi Laura, beautiful plants as usual, my question is, can Caladiums be strictly house plants and is this a good idea?
Love seeing the beautiful colors of the Caladiums! Thank you for sharing!
Have a blessed Thanksgiving with your family 💖
wow!! what a great idea for christmas!! so many varieties!! i always thought caladiums were fussy and hard to grow but these new varieties are exciting, and i can't wait to get my hands on some... i know exactly what you mean about the vintage look of the one - just old-fashioned in a way.. some of them look like the painter spilled his paints on them, and the vintage one looks like it has pieces of velvet on it...they look gorgeous in your house!!! i LOVE them!!!! hoping i can find some out my way... :)
Wow, the colors of them are so beautiful
The last two I also thought they reminded me of a vintage Christmas!
Now I'm excited about caladiums. Oh they are so beautiful! I'd go for these beauties over a pointsettia any day!
Love, love these.. will be heading to local garden center... warm, vintage Victorian look... classic!
LAKE PLACID FL is the Caladium Capital of the world. You should visit.... It is amazing. Many, many Caladium farms located in this small town. I live in North Florida but have visited many times. 🌞🌦️
