Without a doubt Burton Cummings and the Guess Who are among the most underrated singers and bands of the 1970s. Such a great voice, so many hits, but hardly ever mentioned nowadays. Such a shame.

The story is that he and Randy were in a music store and saw a flute in the window. Burton ended up buying the flute and of all things played it for the first at a concert that evening, not having played the instrument at all before that. Sounds crazy but that is what happened!
We have to remember the recorded version couldn't sound so great if its not present in the performer. The recording only captures what's actually happening albeit somewhat "pure" in that there's noting but voice and instruments to tape. If they suck live not much can really make it better and we still call it music.
That year was great, except for I had a start of divorce because my husband was beating man cheating on me, but other than that the music was a great great great, and I missed that the most
Burton had a voice that could not be mistaken for someone else's. He really was amazing. I love so many of Guess Who songs. Sour Suite, American Woman, No time, Dancing Fool, and the list goes on. Burton you rocked!
This guy is unbelievable sitting at a piano playing the flute can play the guitar and sings like a champ and can write so many great tunes God I love this band how talented can you be guess who forever so many great bands in the 60s 70s and 80s
What a brilliant performance of a great song...I did not know Burton Cummings played the flute, let alone so well...and what a voice, incredible singer! Randy Bachman is also a great and underrated musician and guitarist. ❤❤

I agree with that that Jimmy B. Just look at there pedals boards. Back then they used a distortion box, wah-wah pedal or nothing at all! Bands today in concert are trying to create the sound from the studio. To me I rather listen to them raw than replicate the studio sound!
Burton Cummings has one of the best voices ever, I can't believe they haven't been nominated for Rock In Roll of Fame yet, hopefully they will be soon. Makes me so mad. Love you Burton
I took a flute course in college as an elective and my professor taught me how to play that flute part. I still play it now and then. Bill Hailey of "Rock Around the Clock" fame used to live two blocks from my folks house.
Amazing Bachman-Cummings!! Wow it's magic with a single guitar and a flute but in the hands of two great musicians and artists, kudos from you #1 fan in Guadalajara, México ✌😎
This song would have gone nowhere without Burton's angelic vocal performance. On the other hand, Burton has never written a song with this much soul, IMO. I love these two together.

All of them were good. I had them on eight track. Riding around in my 64 Chevelle Malibu SS. Two cases full of tapes plus more. So many bands. Everyone loved to ride with me to see bands play.
So refreshing to hear a couple of guys conversing without hearing, "Like" "Bro" "Dude" and "You know" in every sentence 😢
Yep, that would be grody to the max! Those cool cats didn’t need words like the slang you mentioned, that wouldn’t be groovy!

An incredible voice. He has aged and yet hasn't lost a step vocally as he has aged.

I like flute in Rock N Roll. The Guess who, The Moody Blues, Jethro Tull.
Could not have said it better myself. Wow Burton is just amazing!
Bachman and Cummings, incredibly talented and sophisticated. These guys are not just rockers, they can do all kinds of music incredibly well.
In 2017 i had the honor of picking up Burton in my cab and took him to the airport, the nicest human being i ever met
Even Burton's speaking voice is like velvet. He still sounds incredible today.
When burton started speaking i thought it was dick clark doing an intro as i wasnt looking at screen.
Burton's voice just flows like water. I always think there is no way he could sound as good as the recording, but he does.
No technology altering his voice. Just the pure, real thing. Beautiful!
Yep thinking that too. And Bachman was flawless too!
