    Ingredients for Tonkatsu
    : Pork loin
    : salt & pepper
    : Flour
    : Beaten egg
    : Panko (Bread crumbs)
    Ingredients for Katsu-don
    : Tonkatsu
    : 1 tbsp soy sauce
    : 1 tbsp mirin
    : 1/2 sake
    : 1 tsp sugar
    : 50ml dashi stock (Chicken broth instead)
    : 1/4 onion
    : 1 ~ 2 beaten egg
    : Mitsuba leaf

    I also use the brown chopstick rest of Tanuki at the first scene.
    The Panko is those crushed and dried bread. So that you can easily make those.
    "Pan" means "bread" in Japanese, and "Ko (Kona)" means powder. In other words, "Pan-Ko" means bread powder.
    As a further maniac way, It is also delicious to use with crushed crackers. Please try it!

      you can get non alcoholic cooking mirin. maybe the same for sake, im not sure though.

    I make this all the time when I make my crunchy chicken over salad, and I also don't fry it. But I never thought of toasting the panko before hand. I will definitely try it!

    So you found your favorite warishita mesurements! You can use your warishita in many other JP dishes such as sukiyaki. Maybe you can try some other Western twist dishes with your warishita!

    I made katsudon for the first time and................it was a great success!!!!! I had everything but sake. But I do taste the sweet flavor you are talking about. Yummmmmmmyyyy!!!!

    I've tried Tonkatsu but it was with chicken and it was so good! It came with a side of tofu soup with the bulldog sauce on the side and they had the spicy mustard on the side as well! Super Oishii!!

    Made the nonfried chicken version and it came out awesome and i didnt even use exact measurements for warishita sauce! reminded me of the Kastu-don i used to buy at the convienence store by my house when i lived in Northern Japan, Next...curry bread!

    chicken tonkatsu looks so yummy and healthier! I like my stuff crispy so maybe I can do the eggs, onions and warashita separately and put on top of rice with the chicken tonkatsu on the side!! yum!!

    You can use a cordon bleu too. Katsudon with ramen is great for breakfeast in this cold days.

    I made the Non-Fried Version Today. I expected it to be dry, but it was crunchy on the outside and tender and moist inside. I baked it for 18 - 20 minutes wich was enough =).
