It always astounds me how many young kids can't realize songs existed before youtube did. On every music video there's always comments saying "omg 10 years old" since pretty much every old music video was posted in 2009
Why'd you have to go and make things so complicated? I see the way you're acting like you're somebody else. Gets me frustrated. Just admit that you love the videos I make, my dear mario
I overheard my niece playing this song on her iPad the other day and I couldn’t have been happier. She loved it the same way I did when it first came out.
I liked this song back when I didn't understand English. Now I like just the melody, the lyrics are just weird. It's so strange how it makes it sound like rejecting someone is a crime.
Life only seemed "simpler" back then, but no one tells you about how easy it was to slip a person and rape them at a party, and how common teenage pregnancies were in the past; good thing we've made progress. Also I guess it depends on the region, because in the 2000s, there was also famine in East Africa, an economic crisis leading to record suicides and depression rates in Japan that created the "lost generation", coups, conflicts, terror attacks and racial riots across the world, like it always has been. The world didn't change. Did it get worse? Nope, it's always been shitty. The pandemic just forced our generation to wake up to reality and to grow up and see this world for what it is and what it always has been, a spectacle of misery and joy.
When I was younger I absolutely loved Avril and this was my favorite video of hers. So much that I went out and got a band, toured the US, and find out my tour manager was in this video. HA!

That "He was a boy, she was a girl, Can I make it any more obvious?" Has to be one of the most iconic quotes ever on music history, this is AMAZING, I literally hear this every single year since I was 6, And now I'm almost turning 20 and this is still superb
"He was a boy, she was a girl..." was obvious then now is relevant information.
honestly!
I just turned 20 on the 6th and I'm just going on a nostalgic trip in my head! Especially since my mom, one of my granddads and grandmas who died from 2019 to 2021, after I ended up in foster care were still very much alive and well and I was totally happier and innocent and carefree!!
