      People complain that the Eldar are overly arrogant but the Tau are the most arrogant and overconfident people in the entire universe. The Tau keep running into things that is either way more powerful than them or things they can't explain with science or both. But they still think they are the greatest power in the galaxy when anyone with more than one brain cell will be able to tell, no they aren't.

      Naïve in the term that they know nothing of the wider galaxy and truly how outnumbered they are and that the only reason they are able to do anything is because almost every single major player ignores them and then barely deals. If they were to actually fight a real crusade that didn’t get interrupted half way or a real Ork Wagg they would be dead. Farseer seems to be the only one who knows that this is the reality of the situation.

    I absolutely love how the necrons are essentially immune to all the threats in the galaxy. Tyrannids can’t consume them, dark eldar can’t torture them, chaos can’t corrupt them and the imperium can’t out tech them.

    The tau serve a great meta purpose in 40k. They answer the question: "How would this more senceable faction from another sci-fi ip fare in 40k?". Turns out, not well, not well at all!

      They still exist. They still expand. They still advance where everyone else has fallen into ignorance or stagnated. I would say they are doing pretty well considering what they are facing, and how very young they are. Were they humanity instead, and the Imperium run by Tau I doubt opinions of the greater good would be so dim. They have accomplished in a remarkably short time span what the Emperor wanted for humanity after all. And now instead of a logical scientifically minded race of enlightened people, humans have devolved into praying to their guns and tanks hoping they won't fall apart before some glorified engineer digs up their blueprints and bullshits some scripture about them.

      @@Lukos0036 Well it's kinda the cycle isn't it. The Necrons had a great empire that fell apart cause of their wars with the Old Ones and getting fucked by the C'tan. The Aeldari had a great empire until they murder-fucked Slaanesh into existence. Even the orks had an empire based out of Ullanor until the Imperium destroyed it. Humanity had a pretty impressive galaxy spanning civilisation until the Age of Strife, they even managed to rebuild it into a pretty decent Imperium until Horus fucked it all up. The Tau are clearly the new rising force but eventually it'd be trashed by all the others, probably when the Tyranids consume all sentient life.

      1.Everyone else has fallen into ignorance or stagnated?! Did you just forget Orks, tyranids and to some degree necrons exsisted?
      2.The only reason they still exist (expand is questionable, especially after the great rift) is that every other faction has bigger problems/targets.
      3.What the Tau have accomplished was already accomplished by manny other factions already to much higher degree. The tau are just to to young of faction to have encountered any of the major roadblocks for example their AIs have still to turn on them or they have to jet to face chaos corruption wich the first contacts prove they are not prepared for in the slightest etc etc
      Look i also like the Tau, but saying that they carry serious weight in 40k, is like saying GW never gives Spacemarines any love.

      @@galling2052 1.:Orks and Tyrannids aren't innovators. They are living weapons. Necrons are stagnant and in decline. The tech they posess is potent, but not unreachable.
      2.There is always a bigger fish. The whale does not comprise the ocean, nor invalidate it.
      3. That someone else did it first does not minimize their accomplishments. What took them thousands of years to build the Tau met or exceeded in a fraction of the time.
      I understand you have your favorites and all, but it sounds like you are looking for reasons to argue over a fictional universe you have no control over because you feel the other factions are "cooler" or something.     Back when Trazyn hacked in one of the previous videos, he mentioned that there were others in the 40K universe that were aware of the Institute's presence. Both by those they were and weren't yet aware of.
    If that truly is the case, what if one of these aware parties were the Drukhari themselves? What exactly would happen if they managed to get their claws on one or more of the Institute's field agents?
    And exactly what kind of knowledge could they extract?

    One, I always liked this part. It always showed the naivety and ignorance of the Tau perfectly.
    Two, I will forever resist the words Drukhari and Aeldari. Dark Eldar and Eldar forever.

      Eladrith Ynneas is a better name IMO. It sounds more elegant, and the Dark Eldar see themselves as such.

    If the Dark Eldar hadn't sent the modified Tau into battle, letting the _feral cat out of the bag,_ so to speak, how much longer could they have played the Tau?
    And what would that have looked like and what would the endgame be?
    The Dark Eldar did make a unforced error with allowing their twisted Tau onto the battlefield

      It was planned IMO. I don't think the Tau lets the Dark Eldar have 7077 Tau without knowing the whereabouts/condition of the earlier 77.
      So you let them know what happened, trick them and have a whole planet to yourself.

      There is a big difference:
      Asuryani betray to preserve there people and when they kill it's usually quick
      Drukhari betray to take pleasure in watching others suffer and they make you wish they would kill you.

    The Tau are one of my favorite factions within 40k, and even though their ideals can be dystopian(sterilization of lesser races) they don't have enough territory to lose so their position is really unstable even with their technology. I do hope they get some more lore and appreciation down the road, as one of 40k's newer races they have such potential.

    In the grim darkness there is no place for naive. Trust and loyalty are commodities that are sometimes as valuable as entire stars, but only an absolute fool would trust a being so edgy that just looking at it cuts you.
    This is why I prefer the Imperium over Tau. Also, great episode as always.

    Tau is this very excited private going to war and preaching about honour, sacrifice and good deeds like helping people. As soon he ventures to the battlefield, he can only see horrors making his expectations fade away as he saw nothing but misery and torment, probably the Imperium is like roughed veteran looking at the tau with disbelief and arrogance but he also remembered that he was also the same as him before but now it doesn't really matter anymore to him.

      It wasn’t small... it had many space marines chapters, millions of guardsmen and the mechanicus. Plus they didn’t come close to wiping out the tau, they didn’t even win the democles gulf. They had to retreat and the tau didn’t lose a single territory that wasn’t in the democles gulf.

    The tau are like the federation of humanity during the dark age of technology. Technologically inclined, naive to the powers and xenos and are the spark of hope for a dying galaxy. This is why I love the tau lore even though their aesthetics are not that grim dark they are a very reasonable addition to the lore of watchmaker 40k

It'll be like if someone asked "Is that the drukari?" The reply should always be "fire every gun and missile we have at them"

      That was entirely different era which that attitude was not a problem.
      DA Humanity was dominant power in the Galaxy at the time so one could hardly call them naive. We also have some passing mention of help from other alien races to beat back the Men of Iron so their attitude was kinda right for the time.
      It is just that the Universe turned Grim Dark once again thanks to Eldars

The Tau empire resides now at the grim dark 40k era where a lot of the things that you will encounter is either set out to kill you or torture you, so its better to have diplomacy but with guns ready to annihilate the opposing force at a whim, if the time comes...

    I really hope the Tau get to kick some major ass in the near future. They arent perfect yes but compared to the other factions they are a breath of fresh air for not being evil for the sake of being evil. Also they are the underdog right now and who doesnt love a good under dog story

    There's never enough of this stuff, in this case it helps that I always loved the Tau from when they were released and I always liked the contrast to my Blood Angels. Both of which I always painted pink and white :-P
