- Two main series Pokémon games in one year!? You know what that means: we're feasting on the Pokédex this winter. In today's video, we're looking at all of the weirdest and creepiest things that happen in the Scarlet Pokédex!

Annihilape's Violet entry takes the cake for me - "It imbues its fists with the power of the rage that it kept hidden in its heart" - you mean that Primeape, who sometimes got so angry that it died, was actually relatively calm compared this guy?!
That is a scary thought I hope that is not true
This implies that Primeape legitimately tried to control its anger, and the wrath we saw was just the tip of the irritation iceberg.
I LOVE ominous lore like that.
I think of annihilape is a primeape that should have died but just pulled a doom guy and was just too angry to die
Primeape was trying to save us all from their rage, but with their body left behind they have given up mercy.
How do you train something like that? WHY IS A CHILD ALLOWED WITH 100 METERS OF IT!
No matter what region, no what game, there are always Pokédex entries to remind us of how terrifying it would be if Pokémon existed in the real world. Whether it be a ghost dog that drains your life force, or a parallel universe psuedo legendary that could wreck an entire town
All the more reason they should come to our dimension.
MechaGhiadora is always worse than regular Ghiadora.

Several Electric type species draining the power grid, Aron devouring entire infrastructures, certain species spiriting you to different dimensions or times, your mind being an open book to the Psychic type species, etc.
Squakabilly's are likely safe from Tinkaton because they aren't steel types. Tinkatinks get bullied by other steel types according to it's dex entry, and it seems to keep a vendetta against them into it's evolutions lol

Tinkatons are dwarves. They keep grudges, they're tiny and they're expert blacksmiths. They made their lists of mons who bullied them as kids and now they have the hammer to get even.
Honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if they harvest the metal from steel types and use it to make/repair/upgrade their hammers.
@@tompotter8703 according to the Scarlet entry for Tinkatuff, that is exactly what they do: "This Pokémon will attack groups of Pawniard and Bisharp, gathering metal from them in order to create a large and sturdy hammer."

What gets me is Annihilape, who I saw in a leak at like 3AM. "When its anger rose beyond a critical point, this Pokémon gained power that is unfettered by the limits of its physical body." "It imbues its fists with the power of the rage that it kept hidden in its heart." Primeape, who is known to track people down over any distance for the crime of having once existed within perceptible distance, THAT PRIMEAPE, was apparently holding itself back? That was it's calm side? Just got so angry it rose to a different plane of existance, then bound itself in flesh just to keep beating you.
Have you seen its attack animation. Mf has Mr. Fantastic powers and enlarges his entire freakin arm LOL

Tinkaton's hammer being MADE OF PIECES OF CORVIKNIGHT is so metal. Especially since the shiny Tinkaton's hammer is shiny Corviknight's colors.
So that means... She kills Coviknight and dismantle their body to make her hammer. Wow, interesting.
And thought the hammer was made with Pawniard/Bisharp blades
That's the middle stage. This final stage moves on to Corviknight.
Shiny Tinkaton's hammer is bronze colored. Not at all close to shiny Corviknight which is more gray by comparison.
I feel like Tinkaton just likes to take credit for other Pokemon’s victories and Corviknight’s predators are actually implied to be some Electric or Fire type Pokemon.
i love that they gave primeape's corpse a chance to shine. and i do get more of a zombie/revenant vide from annihilape than a ghost vibe. it has one of the weights on its arms missing and the other cracked open, kinda like a body that was chained down but broke free when it came back. it has a very corpse like colour, pale and decayed. i love it.

The reason why tinkerton attacks corviknight is because it's whole evolutionary line has a backstory about how it grew up being picked on by steel type so it get got back at them by making giant steel hammer to fight back.
The bullied becomes the bully.

Now all we need is a Pokemon who is an ally to Corviknight, who hunts down Tinkaton and uses her skin, armour and metal.
That paranormal magazine is actually in the game and you can read it: it's called Occulture and various issues of it are on the shelves in the Uva Academy Entrance Hall. In Violet, they each describe a different Paradox Pokémon you can find in the game, but from the perspective of weird conspiracy theories; in one of them they say Iron Moth is a UFO sent to spy on mankind by aliens mounting an invasion
Well, we had aliens from (arguably) Gen-I (remember Clefairy building a spacecraft?) or Gen-III (Deoxys says "Hello!").

@@byronlyons3548 Well. The Ultra Beasts are said to be from different dimensions. Minior on the other hand is a meteor Pokemon. So. I TECHNICALLY think it SHOULD count as an alien Pokemon. Oh. And lore wise. Apparently Eternatus is an alien Pokemon since it came from a meteor 20,000 years ago.

according to the pokedex in scarlet and violet, the creator of the modern pokeball was obsessed with foongus.

@@llmkursk8254 that's what the old ones were based on, an apricorn, and since hisuian voltorb seems to resemble it it might be related to apricorns biologically. Since pokeballs already slightly resembled foongus the creator might had used this as an alibi for using the pokemon they were obsessed with to create it.
Yeah it occurred to me that to evolve Primeape into Annihilape, you have to command your Primeape to die from rage. That's why it has the ghost type. That's pretty messed up when you think about it. Thanks Game Freak.

I actually love Rabsca's description in violet, tbh!
"An infant sleeps inside the ball. Rabsca rolls the ball soothingly with its legal to ensure the infant sleeps comfortably." really give off an unnerving vibe because it doesn't specifically say the 'infant' is a Rellor, just that there's something inside the ball/egg
i like bombirdier's entry because not only does it drop rocks, it specifies that it's doing this specifically for fun

What's hilarious about Tinkaton's pokedex entry is that Tinkaton can't learn Smack Down
Nor can it actually damage Corviknight in a battle.
@@fivestarguy100 That’s definitely not true since all Pokemon can damage each other. And I just beat a Corviknight with my Tinkaton. Both its types are resisted by Corviknight which is kinda funny, but with that 160 Power move Tinkaton has it doesn’t really matter.
Nor any Fire or Electric Attacks. Corv actually walls it in competitive Pokémon
tinkaton being this tiny gremlin that casually knocks Corviknight out of the sky to scrap their armour and make a new hammer out of it is just funny to me. Mfer was such a menace to the paldean corvikight population that the local taxi service had to swap to little parrots instead so they weren't pelted with launched rocks constantly, it's glorious, best new Pokémon without a doubt
And admittedly while the Pokédex isn't as violent as it has been, I do appreciate the focus on predators and prey I've seen. It's pretty nice to see them trying to bring up and elaborate on the ecosystem these creatures live in, it's great.
I'm now 100% certain that trainers are not allowed to bring this evolution line to Galar. Enough Tinkaton could probably break Galar's economy, what with their frequent reliance on Corviknight.
97% of all Corviknight live in Area Zero by my calculations. There are no Tinkaton down there so it makes sense.
I already couldn't take regular Hydreigon seriously because it looks too much like an evil muppet, but the the dex entry for Iron Jugulis is just icing in the cake.

I also like how in scarlet, the dex entry for froslass talks about how she finds people and pokemon she likes, freezes them and takes them back to it’s den as decorations.

Tinkaton's pre-evolution oft states that they hunt metal to slowly but surely improve their hammers. Tinkatuff's entry even states they go hunting Pawniards and Bisharps to collect their metallic remains. So my guess is that Tinkaton is hunting Corviknight simply for its armor
If those things spread out beyond Paldea, there's some shed carapaces of Aron and its evolutions it could utilise.
Either way, I'm now assuming that Tinkaton and its pre-evolutions would be banned from entering Galar. Enough Tinkaton could grind that entire region to a halt.

You actually can read bits of that paranormal magazine in the academy's Entrance Hall. There are greenish books that stick out from the rest, and they each contain a blurb about a Paradox Pokemon. While nothing in those blurbs really sticks out, there's a student in the hall that describes the magazine as strange, so that Iron Jugulis dex entry is most likely something the magazine made up.
Now I need to wait form him to recover form the Flamigo incident for the second part.

"Can you have 2 souls in a single Pokemon?" Why yes! In SV specifically you have Tandemaus which are 2 separate creatures but are a single Pokemon. Then it can evolve into a family of 3 or 4 separate creatures but still a single Pokemon.
I know that comments was just something JWittz said in passing and not a serious question, but I finally knew a thing so I wanted to say it. Plus I find the Tandemaus/Maushold line really interesting.

I guess the requirement of what makes a Pokemon a full, single pokemon is if they are able to live and fulfill thier requirements as one being? Like a single egg from an exeggsecute can't function, a single falinks can't survive without the rest.

I'm a bit surprised Naclstack's Scarlet dex entry wasn't mentioned here- it definitely took me and my brother aback.
"This Pokémon dry cures its prey by spraying salt over them. The curing process steals away the water in the prey’s body."
Funny enough, once it evolves, in Violet it goes around using its salt to heal injured Pokemon.

Yeah...that's what salt does in real life. Hence why people feel exceptionally thirsty after eating salty food.
Rabsca is so tame in Scarlet compared to Violet, "An infant sleeps inside the ball. Rabsca rolls the ball soothingly with its legs to ensure the infant sleeps comfortably." AN INFANT????
That seems to contradict the Scarlet entry though, suggesting that the ball is the Pokemon. So is it an infant, or is it the main Pokemon?

Rabsca gets even weirder in the other games dex, where it says its believed the ball is an infant that it picked up along the way. Try and make those 2 entries both make sense at the same time

We always talking about TinkaTon attacking Corvinknights, but never Tinkatuff killing and taking the body parts of Bisharp
6:45 my headcannon is that Hydreigon fell in love with the paradox form of Magnimite, Sandy Shocks... Why? Cuz when I was planning out a sun team of scarlet paradox pokemon a stumbled onto a 5 star female Hydreigon raid. Thus the ship idea of Devastator the Hydreigon and Boltbarian the Sandy Shocks was born, and I can't stop imagining their dates just being them destroying stuff

I'm actually disappointed you only covered the new Pokémon this time, because I've just learned from this game that a Jumpluff will die when it runs out of cotton spores. It's almost Spoink all over again with this one!
And Cotton Spore is a move. What happens if it forgets it?.
@@toumabyakuya They need to use their Cotton Spores to slow the opponent down, so by forgetting how to use the move, they probably slow down or outright stop the depletion of their Cotton Spores.
It's not just about the move, to be honest. Anything that strips away their spores would be deadly to Jumpluff. Hurricane? "It's super effective" does not cover the actual harm that move could do.
Also Spoink's PokéDex entry in Violet straight-up confirms that Spoink dies if it stops bouncing. In previous gens the PokéDex only said that Spoink's bouncing made its heart beat, implying that it would die if it stopped but not saying so outright. The Violet Dex just straight-up says that if Spoink stops bouncing, it dies.

Think it would've been more fitting if Annihilape was more calm than Primeape since the Sun entry mentions that it "looks peaceful in death." But instead it just becomes even angrier somehow. Maybe it's because Annihilape "died" (there's a lot of implications that Ghost types are not inherently undead, for example the dead mother Marowak and Acerola's genuine ghost Mimikyu in the anime) that it gained newfound powers to bolster is rage even further
Oh no, it sounds like this very-much-alive Pokémon is channelling the spirits of its comrades who died from their own anger. It may be more akin to Basculegion for me.
Yeah, I guess annihilape might be an instance of primeape that’s anger was just so far past the regular Primeape rage threshold for dying it like spiritually died and revived as Annihilape instead, so maybe someday we might see the calm equivalent to it or something.

Greavard and Houndstone are so interesting and kind of disturbing to me- and I feel like I’m the only one! IT LOSES ITS SKIN WHEN IT EVOLVES INTO HOUNDSTONE. Like I get it, decomposition is obviously a real thing, but like I didn’t think I’d sort of see it in Pokémon!!

@@donovanjoseph737 Exactly what Alex said- Greavard has flesh, specifically a cute little dog nose. But then when it evolves into Houndstone, its nose is gone, along with its skin. Look at pictures of the two and you’ll see it. Kinda dark for Nintendo but I like it
Flamigo is also based on a balloon animal hence the twist its neck into a knot to prevent the energy from coming out.
And I think it's also based on not just a real flamingo, but a plastic garden flamingo as well.

Why do you say it's based on a balloon animal? The neck thing is the closest hint to such a thing...
Pokémon do not need to have one single design basis. Many are just mishmashes of difference concepts. Look at Eevee, fans have argued for so long about what it's based on that they never considered the possibility of _everyone_ being right.
Forget eat, how does it breath!? I seem to remember an early episode of the anime where a Dodrio got its necks tied in a knot and the doctor was worried about it strangling itself!

"this pokedex isn't as gorey as some others." Man missed scarlets entry for the fire version of tauros, where it literally talks about how it gores people and leaves thrid degree burns while doing so.

Tinkatink shoots at corvinight for their metal, hence why they won't attack non metalic birds.
Their hammer is most likely made of metal from corvinights, especially since the shiny version has a hammer with similar colors to shiny corvinight (while the actual pokemon doesn't change at all).

Shiny Corviknight is silver in color, the hammer of Tinkaton in shiny is brown...
The Iron Jugulis entry sounds more like a poorly translated version of "love child". Iron Jugulis looks like the love child of Hydreigon and a Robot.
That might be it, but also that Pokedex entry was clearly taken from a magazine in the game world, Occulture, which is an obvious parody of real occult and supernatural magazines, like the ones that have articles like "Bigfoot is my father!" The Paradox Pokemon aren't common knowledge and just rumoured, unconfirmed sightings, much like real life cryptids, so the entries for them are speculation based on some random person's memories of a creature they swear they saw once.
Basically, the entries citing Occulture should be taken with as much salt as those for Galar's fossil abominations.
Flamigo is a pink boxing glove(from the side) and its feet are the shoe lace you tie the gloves close. Hence the fighting type.
I always figured that pokemon breeding was like a soul based thing, where they combine there soul power and produce an egg. That's why all kinds of wildly different pokemon can breed, despite the fact that they really shouldn't be able to. Because of this, I figured the Iron Jugulis was the product of this, between a Hydreigon and some kind of robot with a soul

Annialiape sounds like a lvl 20 barbarian from dnd that just refuses to die and will fight anyone who tries to end them to the death and beyond

I think Paradox Hydreigon’s dex entry might be a reference to Pulseman since that’s essentially Pulseman’s origin story, they’re the child of a scientist who fell in love with a Robot
0:50 its a whole story in its pre-evos, a pokemon that eats metal (most likely corviknights) eats their Bat/hammer. So when it evolves it takes revenge on them, thats why the parrots are cool with it.
Close but no. Corviknight doesn't eat metal. Nor do Pawniard and Bisharp, which Tinktatuff hunts.
It's a little more... Violent than that. Tinkatuff says it hunts Pawniard and Bisharp and uses the metal it gets from them to improve its hammer. And Tinkaton steals whatever it wants. All of them use scrap metal they obtain to improve their hammers.
Corviknight's feathers are stated to be made of Steel.
Tinkaton hunts Corviknight, takes its feathers, and improves its hammer, or gives some of the scrap metal to Tinkatink and Tinkatuff to create and improve their hammers respectively.

Maybe but I think they made robots for Pokémon that have a low population to mate with to keep the species alive
I think in reality, it's not a love child between a Hydreigon and a robot, but a Hydreigon converted into a cyborg (similar to Genesect).

That makes sense, but also consider that the magazine mentioned, Occulture, is an obvious parody of occult and cryptid magazines that are often full of ridiculous articles very much along the same lines

By using Rage Fist 20 times, Primeape became so angry that it died...by evolving into the part Ghost type Annahilape.

The entire Tinkatink line is a horror story. Hammer eaten by metal eaters, taking the body parts of pawniard and bisharp to forge a new hammer, aiming to take down crowscure from the sky? Adorable villain.

I'm pretty sure Iron Jugulis is not really the love child of a Hydreigon and a robot, but a Hydreigon converted into a cyborg from the future. After all, the description came from a paranormal/conspiracy magazine (and those magazines tend to feature weird and questionable articles and descriptions).
It happened with Genesect, only it was from the other temporal direction.
You're right that it probably isn't actually the offspring of a Hydreigon and a robot, but the actual origins, beyond coming from the future, are a mystery. Is it a cyborg? Is it an artificial Pokemon? Is it more comparable to Genesect, fossil Pokemon, or Porygon?

When you consider that Dex entry, the books in the academy, the after story with Arven and if you simply know what a Paradox actually is: That Dex entry might actually explain what all of these Pokemon ACTUALLY are with simply that first part of the sentence....

Most entries are in the School's library, which is also the entrance-hall, 2 of them can also be found in Arven's lighthouse, and all the magazines describe different Paradox pokemon (eg: Iron thorns actually loses the violent temper that normal Tyranitar have, whilst Iron Jugulis legit destroyed a building and flew off)
When going to the shelves and press the button used for talking to the characters, the comment talks about the magazines.

Tinkaton's villain arc is probably the best dex entries of this generation.
I saw someone theorize that they hunt Corviknight for their armor since it’s pre evolutions all mention it hunting down metal Pokémon to improve their hammers. Corviknight may not be steel type but it’s still got metal on it.

I love all of these entries but one of my personal favorites is Wugtrio. "It has a vicious temperament, contrary to what its appearance may suggest. It wraps its long bodies around prey, then drags the prey into its den."
