What are the Most Disturbing Pokédex Entries in Pokémon?

  • The Pokédex says a lot of stuff, some of it may not even be true, but if only a fraction of its tall tales do have a basis in fact it means the Pokémon world is a LOT scarier than we thought! And some of it comes from places you wouldn't always expect; basically it's not just the Ghost types you have to watch out for... (Although Greavard is a thing now, so definitely watch out for that!)

    Gardevoir can apparently create black holes if it feels like its trainer is in danger. Don't bully Wally, his Gardevoir might just end the world.

    • @zigazav1
      @zigazav1 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      Well, creating a black hole takes up an enormous amount of it's Psychic power, so it only does that as a last-ditch effort. And, I see you implied about the GBA Hoenn's universe. Perhaps as response to the "fanart" of Gardevoir that swarmed the Internet, Gamefreak gave Wally in ORAS a Gallade instead of Gardevoir, since his Gardevoir was canonically male. But still, Wally should not be bullied regardless. The poor boy's got breathing problems that come up when the air quality is bad, leaving him to get very sick due to the tainted air. Wally should never go to Black City in Unova, that place is filled to the brim with unclean air, due to heavy air pollution

    One of the creepiest entries for me has to be Cacturne's:
    "If a traveler is going through a desert in the thick of night, Cacturne will follow in a ragtag group. I think the worst part about Yamask is when it evolves into Cofagrigus. It’s Sword entry says that upon evolution, it forgets that it ever was human at some point. That is very tragic if you ask me!
    As a Yamask, it remembers its human life, so there’s a chance that if the Yamask was a good person, a “wild” one wouldn’t dream of harming you (leading to them being conflicted when the day they finally see another human being again, that person sends out their Pokémon at them).
    But upon becoming Cofagrigus, it loses the last trace of humanity it had left, becoming nothing more than a monster that has been known to attack humans, and very well just repeat the whole process!

    These Pokedex entries gets even more creepy and disturbing once we cover the Pokémon with Mega Evolution because apparently, a lot of these forms either make the Pokémon unstable or cause intense physical damage like Mega Galie breaking its jaw (as you mentioned) or Mega Tyranitar’s back being forcibly ripped open. Mega Salamence has some pretty disturbing dex entries in Sun and Moon, here is the Sun entry: "Anyone standing in its path gets sliced right in two, while this pokemon continues its flight without interruption"
    Moon entry: "Mega evolution fuels its brutality, and it may even turn on the trainer who raised it. It's been dubbed "the blood soaked cresent""
    Also, the Ultra Sun entry reads: "The stress from its two proud wings becoming misshapen and stuck together because of strong energy makes it go on a rampage"

    Greavard's dex info is pretty depressing. It spends most of its time alone underground and jumps out to play with unsuspecting trainers. It's a very friendly but lonely Pokémon who wants so much attention that it'll follow trainers wherever they go. Unfortunately, they also unintentionally drain the life force of anyone playing with Greavard for more than a short period of time. In the reveal trailer, the camerawoman collapsed after only throwing a stick twice...

    They turned Litwick into a dog! They took peak Pokémon design and they made it better!
    THAT'S THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE!
    Well, technically, it's the opposite of Litwick:
    While Litwick willingly absorbs the life energy of people and Pokémon around it, Greavard does it UNWILLINGLY!

    To explain the kadapra part, no. In the original japanise texts is says that there is a story written about a boy turning into a kadabra, a reference to a story about a boy turning into a bug. It was meant to be fictional even in the pokemon universe itself, but due to space limit in gen 1 pokedex, the English translation didn't have space to say that it was a written story in the pokemon universe
