Believe it or not, Partner Pikachu and Eevee are actually considered forms in the data (they have separate internal index numbers from the regular species like other permanent forms). The main difference is that they obviously can’t evolve, but they also have higher base stats, different models (both are more detailed, especially Eevee, and they are different sizes), and Eevee even has a different gender ratio (Eevee’s gender difference was also exclusive to Partner Eevee before Gen VIII gave it to every Eevee). Not even considering all the unique partner stuff they can do. Fun fact, if I remember correctly, due to Gen 2's programming, the form of unown actually does affect the shiny rates of each letter. Sometimes it makes it much easier, and other times it can actually make itmuch harder
In Gen 2, only I and V are possible to appear shiny (fittingly, with how shininess was determined). It's Gen 3 that gets particularly wonky. First off, the form is determined by 8 bits of the personality value (forming a number between 0 and 255), which is not evenly divisible by 28. Regardless of being shiny or not, in Gen 3 the A, B, C, and D forms have a 10/256 chance to appear, while the other 24 forms have a 9/256 chance to appear. No matter what, the chance that a random Unown is shiny in Gen 3 is 1/8192, but the weirdness comes in with the odds of a shiny being a particular form. There are four categories to consider, depending on your Trainer ID and Secret ID, in particular depending on if the 9th and 10th bits match or differ between the two IDs. A, B, C, D : 4/64 if both bits match, 2/64 in all other categories E, F, G, H, Y, Z, !, ? : 3/64 if only the 10th bits match, 2/64 in all other categories I, J, K, L, U, V, W, X : 1/64 if both bits match, 2/64 if neither bits match, 3/64 in both other categories M, N, O, P, Q, R, S, T : 1/64 in only the 10th bits match, 2/64 if only the 9th bits match, 3/64 in both other categories Using Bayes' Theorem and the above information, the odds of a particular form being shiny in each ID category are: A, B, C, D : 1/5120 if both bits match, 1/10240 in all other categories E, F, G, H, Y, Z, !, ? : 1/6144 if only the 10th bits match, 1/9216 in all other categories I, J, K, L, U, V, W, X : 1/18432 if both bits match, 1/9216 if neither match, and 1/6144 in both other categories M, N, O, P, Q, R, S, T : 1/18432 if only the 10th bits match, 1/9216 if only the 9th bits match, and 1/6144 in both other categories
Nice video overview! I appreciate that you mentioned some internal formes that the player might not immediately recognize as such. It's a nice touch! Oh and has anyone mentioned Cosplay Pikachu from ORAS yet?
Oricorio would've been better as a permanent Form, they lack literally any coverage moves of their form's type besides Revelation Dance so having set forms and different learnsets would've been much better in the long run.
I agree, I find them being able to change form really weird. The possibilities, like you brought up, if they were hard separated would really help them stand out more!
"The differences between East Sea and West Sea Gastrodon are solely visual" Actually, East Sea Gastrodon enjoys rain, while West Sea Gastrodon is racist and eats sand for nourishment (this is a joke, but also a real reference to the Legends:Arceus Dex entries)
I believe Ogerpon's Terrastalised formes count separately, rather than as just tera'd versions of her regular formes, due to her getting a new ability in this state (Embody Aspect - apparently each forme has a unique ability with the same name)
Shoutouts to the fact that dusk form lycanroc (and by extension, own tempo rockruff) and battle bond greninja being considered their own form in the code, seemingly to dissuade hacking (pro tip, change the hex 0x1d to 09 or higher to get it to work, i know from experience)
You missed: Partner Pikachu/Eevee, Cosplay Pikachu, the Cap Pikachus, Spiky Eared Pichu, Dada Zarude, Neutral mode Xerneas, the elemental Drives for Genesect, Ogerpon's unique Terastal forms (not listed in Pokemon HOME for some reason unlike Terapagos), the thousands of possible Spinda forms, and the Totem Pokemon you get as rewards for the sticker hunt in USUM. If you wanted to include Pokemon the player can battle but not obtain, there are: the special Ghost Marrowack from RBY/FRLG/LGPLGE, the Smeargle with a bow tie in Pokestar Studios, the Totem Hakkamo-o from the Sun and Moon demo (its not even a sticker reward), Eternamax Eternatus (I guess you covered it under the footnote for Megas/Primals/G-Max), the shadowy Giratina in BDSP, and the Starmobiles. There is also the Eternal Flower Floette who's sprite was spotted in a datamine in Pokemon HOME a while back. If you want to include non-Pokemon that you can battle, there are the Ghost Illusions from before you get the Silph Scope in the Kanto games, and the Pokestar Studios Green-Screen props that become the Special Effects. There's also Shadow Lugia and the non-transferrable costume/event Pokemon in Pokemon Go.
Sun and moon also has some goofy ahh cosmetic battle only forms akin to xerneas in the forms of solgaleo's radiant sun and lunala's full moon forms which happens during their signature attacks as well as marshadow's zenith form when I believe it attacks at all.
@@Turtle-Soup ohh okay. yeah “baile” is the spanish word for dance and baile style oricorio is based on flamanco style dancing. it’s pronounced “bye-leh”
A bit clarify: you can actually transfer that special Greninja to S/M/US/UM games. As the person who told ZackScottGames to transfer that mon over to his playthrough only for the mon be stuck in the box forever.
This is so helpful! For some reason, I decided I wanted to completely rearrange the National Pokédex in an order that keeps evolutionary lines intact and only includes forms available in the base games. So Cosplay Pikachu and its 5 forms get entries but the 8 "Pikachu in a Cap" forms don't since those were only ever available as event distributions. One of the hardest decisions has been which forms to give unique numbers and which to drop. I'm trying to give each unique Dex entry its own number (so Megas, Gigantamax forms, and regional variants would get their own individual entries) but even that leads to some frustrating inconsistencies. Silvally, Arceus, Alcremie, and Vivillon are my biggest points of contention right now. Silvally has 2 different Dex entries (one for the Normal form and another for all other forms) but Arceus only has one, despite having just as many alternate forms. Meanwhile, Alcremie, while technically having 63 possible combinations of flavor and sweet, only has Dex entries for each of the flavors and even then, the difference is only 1 or 2 words. Same with Vivillon and its 20 forms. So do I give each of them their own number or should they all share a number with a letter to distinguish them? And on a mostly unrelated note, this whole project has led me to despise Victini. It belongs at the end of the generation with all the other Mythicals and Legendaries, not up before the starters! I ended up booting it to the very end of the Gen V Dex out of pure spite instead of just putting it after Samurott.
Unfortunately, that’s just one of those things I happen to overlook when in the scripting process and then don’t catch in the editing. You’re right though, I absolutely should’ve named the abilities.
My favorite of the permanent forms is probably the Tauros breeds, not because they’re awesome (though they are), but because their introduction brings a lot of potential for future regional variants. I figured regional evolutions would be the extent of their iterations of the concept, but I’m definitely glad to be proven wrong; convergent species are also a nice little sister concept that I quite enjoy as well. In regards to anything missed, Ogerpon has different forms when terastalized. The masks grow bigger and gain an energy-like plumage. Its ability also changes to Embody Aspect, which grants it a different stat boost depending on the specific mask: Grass/Speed, Fire/Attack, Water/Sp.Def, Rock/Defense.
Yeah I love paldean tauros! Think it’s a great evolution of the regional concept! Also, completely forgot about the terastalized forms for ogerpon, which is a little embarrassing after remembering the forms of terapagos
am i the only one who questioned why miltank and Tauros used to be always grouped in the alola dex as the same species but miltank is nowhere to be seen in gen 9? @@Turtle-Soup
This might be outside the scope of the video, but shadow Lugia and Primal Dialga are two alternate forms that appear in spin-offs. There might be more, but those are the two I can think of off the top of my head.

This is very niche, so i don't blame you at all for not includung it, but pichu has a unique form in pokemon heartgold / soul silver, that being the spikey eared pichu. It cannont evolve and from what i know is just aesthetic. It's most recent appearance was a costume alt in super smash bros ultimate. I should’ve added a footnote for spinda, probably alongside the gender variations. Completely forgot about it as my main basis for the forms is from constructing my living dex, and spinda is exempt from that due to the sheer impossibility.
If you wan't to be thecnicall all pokemon have permanent different forms: Their shiny forms. Also if the origin forms of the matter trio are moentioned, both Primal Kyogre and Groudon should be mentioned. And Spinda. Spinda it's a beast of its own
If you wanted to be technical, I guess you could say the shinies count. For the primal reversions, I mention it in the footnote alongside the megas as I personally view them as glorified megas, more or less. Thinking they should’ve been mentioned proper is totally valid though. And for spinda, it is indeed a beast of its own, and a total nightmare for collectors like me.
This title was pretty misleading, seemed interesting to watch but it was just reading off bulbapedia entries with no outside commentary. Why are they weird? We will never know lol
Good video. Very comprehensive, good work. You pronounce some pokemon names wrong tho. Most are fine and can be just differences in dialect, but Oricorio was notably significantly off. You pronounced it "Or-e-co-rio", the ending being the part that's most off. It's actually pronounced "Or-e-core-io" Unrelated, god i hate Calirex. Such a lazy design. Why does it just mount other pokemon why is that considered one pokemon. And its base design is dumb to boot.

I, J, K, L, U, V, W, X : 1/64 if both bits match, 2/64 if neither bits match, 3/64 in both other categories
M, N, O, P, Q, R, S, T : 1/64 in only the 10th bits match, 2/64 if only the 9th bits match, 3/64 in both other categories

@@YOM2_UB So if you're really unlucky, about half the letters can have way worse odds than usual.
Do more of these. Im doing a full living dex with all forms and it helps so much watching these videos to give me new motivation
I’m glad they can be of service!
4:39 those yellow eyes are staring into my soul.
Nice video overview! I appreciate that you mentioned some internal formes that the player might not immediately recognize as such. It's a nice touch!
Oh and has anyone mentioned Cosplay Pikachu from ORAS yet?
No love for spinda?
Oricorio would've been better as a permanent Form, they lack literally any coverage moves of their form's type besides Revelation Dance so having set forms and different learnsets would've been much better in the long run.
I agree, I find them being able to change form really weird. The possibilities, like you brought up, if they were hard separated would really help them stand out more!
"The differences between East Sea and West Sea Gastrodon are solely visual"
Actually, East Sea Gastrodon enjoys rain, while West Sea Gastrodon is racist and eats sand for nourishment
(this is a joke, but also a real reference to the Legends:Arceus Dex entries)
I believe Ogerpon's Terrastalised formes count separately, rather than as just tera'd versions of her regular formes, due to her getting a new ability in this state (Embody Aspect - apparently each forme has a unique ability with the same name)
Shoutouts to the fact that dusk form lycanroc (and by extension, own tempo rockruff) and battle bond greninja being considered their own form in the code, seemingly to dissuade hacking (pro tip, change the hex 0x1d to 09 or higher to get it to work, i know from experience)
The gen 9 box legendaries also have 2 forms
Darn, I totally forgot about them! Surprised given how much time I’ve spent with them
technically 5 but they're not considered forms in the game files
How DARE you forget Dada Zarude
Haha true XD
Saying thousands of Spindas is technically correct but slightly underselling it haha
You said Cramorant's form with Pikachu in its mouth is "Gouging form". However, it's actually its "Gorging" form.
Whoops, I totally just misread that and didn’t catch it lmao
Sun and moon also has some goofy ahh cosmetic battle only forms akin to xerneas in the forms of solgaleo's radiant sun and lunala's full moon forms which happens during their signature attacks as well as marshadow's zenith form when I believe it attacks at all.
Idk if this counts as forms or not but excluding Spinda hurt my soul, just a little bit.
Going by all these comments, I’ve done a grave disservice to spinda. I will have to make it up to them in one way or another.
@@Turtle-Soup Spinda pattern comprehensive tierlist 😁👍
i know full well i did not hear “baile style” pronounced like “bale style”
I looked up how to pronounce it and that’s was what the result was. This singular form is my only proper interaction with the word.
@@Turtle-Soup ohh okay. yeah “baile” is the spanish word for dance and baile style oricorio is based on flamanco style dancing. it’s pronounced “bye-leh”
Interesting! Thanks for letting me know, if I ever have to talk about oricorio again, I’ll be able to do so even more properly.
A bit clarify: you can actually transfer that special Greninja to S/M/US/UM games.
As the person who told ZackScottGames to transfer that mon over to his playthrough only for the mon be stuck in the box forever.
idk if this counts as a form, but the pokedex says Lokix has a 'showdown mode' that it uses
A Pokédex entry says there are rare 3 headed Weezing out there too
Thank you sooooo much for making this video. I have legit been looking for something like this to help me complete my pokémonGO Dex in pokémonGO
Castform should have got a rock sandstorm form
Why mention the fact Squakabilly can have different abilities based on the colour but not name the abilities
Unfortunately, that’s just one of those things I happen to overlook when in the scripting process and then don’t catch in the editing. You’re right though, I absolutely should’ve named the abilities.
Xerneas says hi (it has the worst form change)
I thought about primal dialga, but decided against it due to factors such as being spin off only
I’ll most likely be talking about shadow lugia in another video sooner than later
I feel like the pokemon contest pikachu from oras should've been on the list unless I missed it some how
Yeah, in hindsight I should’ve added cosplay pikachu, alongside the likes of the ash hat pikachu.
You pronouncing Oricorios Baile form as “bail” is killing me lmao
Spikey eared pichu? Bloodmoon ursaluna?
Spiky eared pichu is a whole weird can of beans, definitely should’ve been here tho.
Same with bloodmoon, honestly just forgot about it.
another great video Big blast!
Thank you!
Xerneas has a literal in battle and out of battle form. Out of battle its horns points are all blue, and in battle each horny point is a different color.
(That may be it's only other appearance 😆)
Also kind of off topic, coming from your last video i can tell you've been working on, and audibly improved at talking a bit slower like so many (me included) commented, on the pokeball video. So just wanted you to know, we can tell and you're getting better 👍.
Yeah, spiky eared pichu is a really special one, and it just slipped past when gathering my list of forms.
And thank you for the kind words!
@@Turtle-Soup of course man. I can see you're trying to grow the channel so wanna help with like motivation and such
you forgot the following Pokémon
-Pikachu (cosplay and cap)
-Pichu (spiky eared)
-Kyogre and Groudon (Primal (it may function like Mega, but it isn't))
-Genesect (different drives)
-Xerneas (neutral form)
-Eternatus (Eternamax (it may fuction like Gigantamax, but it isn't))
-Zarude (Dada Zarude)
-Ursaluna (Blood Moon)
-Ogerpon (Terastallized forms)
and
I feel like Eternal Flower Floette should have gotten a mention
Misread the thumbnail as weed forms
Personally totem Wishiwashi is my favorite totem pokemon thematically, because Wishiwashi schoolform is an innately big threat. Some of the other totems seemed a bit silly to me when I played it.
I dunno if anyone mentioned this but you missed the Partner Cap Pikachu forms from USUM and the Cosplay Pikachu forms from ORAS.
Regional variants are technically a permanent form change
Ogrepon also has a different tera type from each mask, and they also boost different stats.
Silvally and Sensu Oricorio are my favourite Pokémon forms!
Koraidon and miraidon actually have different forms whether it’s in its bike form or on two legs/using leg jets (koraidon has limited build and apex build and miraidon has low power mode and ultimate mode)
Love the shade you threw at fan form rotom
You forgot Contest Pikachu which all has different looks and a new move
And then there's Xerneas and its pointless inactive form. Just why
So pointless I continually forget it exists a majority of the time lmao.
Does Ursaluna count with it's Blood Moon form?
It totally does! I completely forgot about blood moon form existed, to be completely honest
Thank you being so kind all mighty loving God help me and these people become more like u
Castform is great I love it
8:47 Cherrim and it's allies get an attack and Sp. Def boost, not Sp. Atk
When/if ever do you think the non permanent forms will be available in HOME?
You forgot Eternal Form Floette ( super rare )
Spinda ( billions of patterns )
The bee 🐝 pokemon with ots exclusive form.
Ppus Honorable mention ( Pikachu as thier are a binch of different Pikachus )
Would you consider blood moon ursaluna in this?
I would, I just genuinely forgot about it, embarrassingly enough!
@@Turtle-Soup :0 shame but understandable XD great breakdown btw
Spinda? 😢
I should’ve added a footnote for spinda, probably alongside the gender variations. Completely forgot about it as my main basis for the forms is from constructing my living dex, and spinda is exempt from that due to the sheer impossibility.
I find it odd that gastrodon doesn’t have a North Sea and south sea form
Sick video
What About The Tera Forms Of Each Ogerpon? If It Counts For The Turtle It Should Count For The Best Girl
Erm actually you forgot the pokéstar studio smeargle from pokemon black and white 2
Are you counting evolved forms as separate forms
did you mention shiny forms at all?
I did not, shiny alcremie does make an appearance though!
My favorite Pokemon with different forms is Oricorio.
Great video. You kinda talk fast and sometimes the transition from pokemon to pokemon can be a bit jarring.
Thanks! And yeah, it’s all been a learning process with the speed at which I talk and how I edit, hope to get a bit better at it each time
What’s the deal with xerneas having a battle mode/forme
What about the spikey eared pichu?
very good video
Thank you!
What a coincidence. I was talking to my Discord group about 100% Pokemon HOME) earlier this morning about Pokemon forms.
Nice video! Isn't Darmanitan a form pokemon too with it's zen mode?
It's in the video at 8:50
It's always funny talking about Darmanitan for me haha
I tried I put celebi in s/v and it wouldn’t let me
Does the celebi happen to be from GO? If it is, I believe you’d need to obtain a celebi from somewhere other than GO and deposit it first.
Celebi can't reach Paldea, it's not in the data.
@@croma3375 I saw it in the video but that might have been swsh gameplay
@@meta4knight Indeed it was.
Honestly forgot 5:46 even existed
Ash greninja unfortunately removed as of gen 9
you forgot Uno and all its form
Black Kyurem for the W
This title was pretty misleading, seemed interesting to watch but it was just reading off bulbapedia entries with no outside commentary. Why are they weird? We will never know lol
Is that a nose or mouth on flabebe
Wow. You mentioned Dialga's Origin form but not it's superior Primal form?? Smh (/j)
Toxtricity is my #1
18:18 Oreecoreeo 💀💀💀💀💀
you pronounce it like oreyecoreyeo or something?
Good video. Very comprehensive, good work.
You pronounce some pokemon names wrong tho. Most are fine and can be just differences in dialect, but Oricorio was notably significantly off. You pronounced it "Or-e-co-rio", the ending being the part that's most off. It's actually pronounced "Or-e-core-io"
Unrelated, god i hate Calirex. Such a lazy design. Why does it just mount other pokemon why is that considered one pokemon. And its base design is dumb to boot.
Thank you! For the pronunciations, I haven’t really partaken in parts of the franchise that has actual voice acting since the Gen 5 era, so they ultimately end up being just how I’ve interpreted it from reading or have picked up from others.
What about Pokémon weird forms yay or nay?
You forgot cosplay Pikachu
Dundunsparce is 1/25
TH-cam wont let me sub lol
You forgot Cherrim 😭 they have different forms per weather or if it’s day or night
Hello
Hi!
Tauros isnt version exlusive just 1 is more common in one version than the other
Bro slow down
You just need to speed up
