Your video makes screen printing seem very easy. Thank you!

This is a great tutorial for at-home screen printing but I think it would be worth saying, especially if you're only making a few of each print, you can easily scrape up the remaining paint off the screen and put it back into the tub. In the studios and workshops I've been in we've scooped leftover paint up off the screen with old credit style cards, like old loyalty cards and student passes we don't need anymore. It takes a lot of paint to flood a screen well, and it's worth saving as much paint as possible, especially if it stops it all going down the drains as well.

This looks great ! How come you flood the screen before taping on the stencil? (If you have to flood it to make multiple prints with the stencil attached anyway) I'm worried about taking to long to attach my stencil then the paint drying on the screen.

Hi Sarah and Donna, I've flooded the screen first because my home made paper stencil needs to stick to the screen! When we use the vinyl stickers in the box, they have an adhesive so they stick to the screen independently, but my paper stickers are a bit more fiddly. When I flood the screen first, the stencil sticks to the paint. Hope this helps! Lewis

Would this method still apply if I’m using vinyl instead of paper for the stencil?? My designs are quite intricate and have many fine lines so Im wondering if vinyl would be better if I want to repeat the designs! Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Ugh. After watching this I am sure I don’t want to learn how to do screen printing. Not sure why it is used as it’s faster and less of a mess to actually paint the picture. I have this box but won’t be using it for its purpose.

Sorry to hear you're not getting on with screen printing! Printing with stencils is used in place of painting as you can repeat your prints multiple times, so in this respect, it would be faster to create multiple versions of the same artwork if you used a screen. However, if this still isn't for you, you can still paint traditionally with the paints on the screen, this is called monoprinting and we've a tutorial covering it here: th-cam.com/video/vH9AO4cuTo4/w-d-xo.html Hope this helps! @@Artfulbox Thank you for the explanation. I guess I’ve never had a need to make exact copies of a painting. I’ll look at the link tho.
