You can use screen filler instead of masking fluid. That will come off with the usual screen chemicals as coat strip.

Does the masking fluid come off the screen? I also assumed you’d have to paint the masking fluid on the underside of the screen in a negative so you don’t scrape it off when you drag the squeegee.

Nice idea to use a cerial box, I've used brown paper and a woody!

Great tutorial, i managed to draw along with you. Cannot remembering receiving a Polychromos pencil in any of the boxes thought. I have about 12 or so at the moment!

This is a great tutorial for at-home screen printing but I think it would be worth saying, especially if you're only making a few of each print, you can easily scrape up the remaining paint off the screen and put it back into the tub. In the studios and workshops I've been in we've scooped leftover paint up off the screen with old credit style cards, like old loyalty cards and student passes we don't need anymore. It takes a lot of paint to flood a screen well, and it's worth saving as much paint as possible, especially if it stops it all going down the drains as well.

Would this method still apply if I’m using vinyl instead of paper for the stencil?? My designs are quite intricate and have many fine lines so Im wondering if vinyl would be better if I want to repeat the designs! Any information would be greatly appreciated!

This is awesome. Great tutorial - by not speeding up too much one gets a real sense of how to colour mix. And the layering blew my mind!

I found you went a bit too quickly and didn’t explain enough about how you were doing things. I generally find most of the artful content to assume quite a lot of knowledge and skill and understanding of art, which is quite frustrating for someone who buys these boxes on the understanding that they’re suitable for absolute beginners to give a new art style a try! For example, why did we need the big circle here? Should I still be able to see my pencil marks? Some tips on what to look for to know where you’re going wrong would be very helpful, especially as this exercise is one you need to do quickly for it to work and a beginner is going much more slowly, giving it less chance to work!

I don’t have this box but do screen print. I’ve never seen these vinyl stickers before. Any idea where I can get them in the uk (& are they permanent once applied?) Thanks

I'm looking forward to trying guache. My box arrived this morning and I don't think it's a pain I've ever used. I'm used to watercolours and dabbled in acrylics, but this might be a bit of an adventure for me.
