Hi my loves. Surprise video for today! Hope you enjoy! Tell me what is one of your luxury regrets/or something you wouldn’t change if you could go back in time? Xx Mel
Regret: buying an LV Neverfull as my first bag. I got sucked in by everyone saying it’s a good first designer bag and I didn’t take into account my lifestyle. 🤦♀️ Wouldn’t change: starting buying Hermès early! Just got my first bag for my 26th birthday. 😘❤️
Hey Mel, love ur channel, love ur videos | Must admit ur totally right - That Bulgari bag is a shocker 😱 | I'm puzzled thou...🤔 | Since it's such a howler...& since ur not likely to use it again...why not sell it? (Especially since one of ur viewer's loves the bag & is seemingly looking to buy one? (Amelia Ask0za.) A bit like regrets or negative energy...the bag is best let go off | Warm wishes 😘
Hi Mel! I bought your black jumbo a few years ago and just wanted to pop up (I'm usually just a lurker) and say I still love it, and for me it's one of those "score!" pieces 🥰 definitely agree with purchasing 8cm or lower heels, and my main shoe regret is buying a half size up or down because it's "the last one" and thinking I can make it fit xx
Hi my dear! So glad to hear you are still loving it! She went to a great mumma! ❤️Can you believe the jumbo is like 12k now? Oh yes I’m totally guilty of buying the wrong shoe size just because it’s on sale too lol xx
mel, this is such a timely video. i've been vacillating between keeping and selling my single flap jumbo in light grey for the longest time because i haven't been using it much (but could be pandemic lifestyle - working at home and all), but hearing from you now, i think i will keep it after all. my husband has steadfastly maintained that i should keep the jumbo (i bought it brand new from paris in 2009, and it's still immaculate) coz he says he will never hear the end of my seller's remorse if i let it go. lol. and it completely resonated with me when you said you wouldn't have bought a birkin any earlier. i started with hermes in my late 20s but only got my B and K when i was touching 40. building a small collection of dream bags has been a passion project, but mortgage & household expenses must always come first!
Omg! You're such a gem! A lot of these luxury hauls/hits&misses etc give me a very vain vibe, like for example those by Lailli Mirza, and you're so natural and not stuck up, love that! Glad I've found you 🥰
Its so weird watching this vid. I still remember watching your vids 5 years ago and even seeing the quality of the vids change or even the time u had that issue with the silver metallic Dior bag. Been a fan for so long Mel. Keep up your good work! You always strive to put our great content and I’m always still excited to see your thumbnail pop up haha. Hope to run into you sometime in Melbourne 😊
I literally felt nauseous paying for my most expensive item (my Chanel WoC) and I couldn't look at it for weeks without feeling bad 🙄 And I'd saved, researched and lusted after that for years before I finally pulled the trigger 😄 I love it and use it loads now, but can't imagine spending so much money and then regretting it!
You deserve it always remember that. I’m into diamonds and jewelry and hubby loves to spend on me. But I still choose pieces that I adore because you only live once. Don’t resell. I don’t have a Mel collection but love what I have because I deserve it. God bless
It brought back memories when you showed your black Chanel Jumbo because the first video of yours that I saw was the one where you compared the two Jumbos in caviar and lambskin. I don’t have any luxury regrets because I don’t have the budget to impulse buy luxury. It takes me so long to save for a luxury item that if anything survives that long on my wish list then I know I really want it.
I am so excited becauseIi just bought a Chanel East West flap from 2007-2008. It is a 12 series. It is in beige lambskin with silver hardware and it looks like it has never been used . It is gorgeous. It arrived yesterday and I am just over the moon. I paid $3000 AUD for it which I think (hope) was a great price. I have seen many around from $4000 AUD in terrible condition up to nearly $12,000 AUD in the same condition as mine , some not even as good. I am just so happy. Great video beautiful. Much love. Jenni from Adelaide. XX
Great video Mel!! I love this kind. Could you do a video on less known luxury brands? Such as Chloe, Carolina Herrera...? As you mentioned there are some brands that you buy because you like it. And what is best to buy in each brand! Thank you!! :)
I enjoy this video…. I had the same mistakes which you mentioned. But I feel it was through these mistakes that allowed me to truly know what I really like and can keep as my “classic” evergreen bags…. It took me 10yrs of buying here and there to really know what suits me and what dont. Totally agree on the heel height… to go lower
Regret not starting Chanel journey earlier. But on the other hand, proud that I was financially stable when I started buying lux and also staying away from SLGs
I AGREE WITH YOU MEL, THE OLDER YOU GET THE LOWER YOUR HEEL GETS LOL, THANKS FOR SHARING THIS EXCITING TO WATCH VIDEO KEEP UP THE EXCELLENT JOB, HAVE A FANTASTIC WEEKEND.
Hi Mel, love your reviews! In my mid twenties and about to get my first Chanel! If you were starting your collection now and were choosing between a rectangular and square mini which one would you be leaning towards?
It is so important to wait for the really lux bag spends until you have your home, car, kids, qualifications etc. Financial security is far more important. Then, you can start to buy treats and keep provisions for pensions etc. While a Birkin is an 'investment' there is a huge hassle to acquire. Plus I was lucky like Mel to pick up my Chanels pre-crazy pricing. But I had my home and advanced in my career enough to be comfortable and not stressed about the spending when I started to buy higher-end bags. Have a financial base:) Plus if you can, save up and wait to travel to a country where you can get the VAT/sale taxes back:).
Mel! You did really really well with your Chanel classic flaps! Thanks for sharing the positives and negatives, we all have them. I learn a few things from this video.❤️
I've slowly built my CC collection and now, with these price increases, I'm done! I am keeping everything lol I know that if I sell something I will never be able to replace it
Mel, you could have a cobbler/ shoe repair take your heels down a smidge. It’s fairly inexpensive and well worth it on your expensive shoes. You will wear them again!
@@MelinMelbourne pay attention Mel! My mother threw away a pair of shoes in this way, because after the cobbler took the heels down, the shoes were not well balanced, she felt a little "strange" when walking...
My luxury regret is that I bought 2 Chanel Classic Flaps, one black bought in 2008 and one metallic champagne gold bought in 2011, both in lambskin. At that time I just find lambskin so luxurious to the touch and so beautiful. Although I still love lambskin now, I should have bought one in caviar leather as caviar is so durable. Now Chanel Classic Flaps are way too expensive to buy.
That Bvalgari bag haha, crazy. Those crazy sized heels, I reckon you should keep them for a bit longer because Miss S might like them and be able to wear them!
Haha, same, I can’t resist when the SA tells me ‘we have only one in our shop and you are very lucky to see it. I’m sure it will be gone in no time if you don’t get it.”
You made me laugh out loud with the Bvlgari bag! But we have all been there. I am in my late 20s and when I first started being able to buy designer items (2009), I completely regret not going for a Chanel flap! I got some pieces I also now wonder why, but I think I was just young and went for what I liked at the time. Hindsight. But I also made some good choices back then, from brands like Mulberry that I have sold on. I have in the past got sucked in with sales, but I'm getting better at making sure it's actually a great offer before I buy. From what you said about the jewelry, I agree. I still enjoy some costume pieces, but I am slowly building a collection of fine jewelry and watches, that I really enjoy.
Such an honest and helpful video! I've been eyeing a J'adior flap bag that has been discontinued. What do you think of that bag? It's available for a great price....
recently when I walked into a coach store there was a leather bag I just loved the color the design did not know it was 40% off. I bought it and very happy with it.
Hi Mel! My biggest luxury regret is I didn’t buy a Chanel classic flap during my honeymoon trip to Europe 6 years ago. If I had known that I can only buy a seasonal Chanel NOW with the price of a classic flap THEN, I would have started my Chanel journey then. Btw, I am Mel from HK. I wish you could afford your collection in the coming future. Enjoy watching your videos for years. 😊
two of my regrets are two of your positives! i wish i had started my luxury collection and social media accounts earlier. BUT no time like the present to get started, smartly of course.
My first luxury bag was a pre-loved Diana Chanel flap for $500 back in 2002. I had it, didn't use it, and sold it to help fund the Caviar Jumbo I wanted. But nothing compares to the old Chanel lambskin so I ended up buying another Diana Chanel flap for what I sold the first one for last year. Another regret is selling my black caviar Chanel WOC. I thought it was too small after using it once. It is for my daily life, but perfect for travel when I don't have my keys, but just carry a credit card, glasses and phone.
Great advice Mel. I totally agree with what you say especially lower heels👠. I wish i hadn't bought so many of Michael Kors bags and put the money together and got a couple of luxury bags, would of saved a lot of space in my home too. The Bvlgari bag you should sell it or give it to a charity so they can auction it. Otherwise use it as a weekend travel bag.
This was so fun Mel....enjoyed seeing & hearing about your Good luxury decision. I have to agree, I wish I'd purchased Chanel early too. Love seeing your Preloved pieces....Such amazing prices. You lon Gorgeous and I'm so So SO HAPPY you started and I found you here on TH-cam Mel. Love & Appreciation You so much. TFS&I 💕🌼🌸🌼
I am the same with the heel dilemma, but finally I took the plunge and went to the boot maker and chopped a little off. Now I can wear them a little easier!😉😘
Great buying pre loved, can be lucky to get some bargains. Designer Exchange sell some great pieces. Yea I would stick with low heels too, not as young as I use to be. 😄
like you i started my Chanel collection about 22 years ago, therefore i have so many beautiful classics very unique minis !! i absolutely love them ! i also made the huge mistake and sold about 5 of them 3 of them classics for nothing !! i wish i could bring them back !! And yes i have about 4 bags now that i cant believe i bought ! Not because they are ugly but because they became to popular.... one LV one Prada one Celine ! Have to find a way to sell them. Another great Video
I suspect it comes from the time when celebrities were carrying huge bags with a dog them everywhere. My dog would have protested vigorously about that trend.
I love the first luxury item I bought with my own money: a Vara patent kitten heel in off-white from Ferragamo. Very comfortable to wear all day and caters to my wider foot. You really can’t go wrong with a classic. Trust the grannies, they know what’s up. 😉

Has it really been 5 years?! I remember seeing the video where you got your first Birkin and I've been watching ever since then! I can't believe it's been so long! :)
Thanks for sharing& enjoy your videos as always Mel💕Wow I'm so surprised on how much prices have increased😮. I'll take on board your advice with designer heel size comfort is more important for me definately(I'm the same age as you) Hi frm QLD. Hope your safe& well in Melbourne.
I don’t own any luxury items yet, I’m about to buy my firsts when I turn 33 in Dec which are Chanel’s WOC and Maxi classic flap…but holy moly the classics price I wish we’d been able to afford it in years past! For my circumstances anything I buy that’s expensive has to be “that’s my only one” so I’m just going for one large, medium and small bag and that’s the three bags I have until I die lol.
Thanks to your vintage handbag video I was able to discover vintage Gucci early enough for myself and my sister to snag the vintage version of the ophidia bags when they were still reasonably priced! Thank you!
As you mentioned you made a “how to score a birkin” video back in 2016 i just realised ive been following you for 5 yrs oredi. Love your collections Mel always ❤️
FABULOUS tag video Mel. My biggest luxury regret is that I was afraid to purchase Chanel sooner. I wouldn't have my Jumbo if it wasn't for you. I will NEVER part with it and NEVER will part with her. Always searching for Chanel. 🌸🌼🌸
13:07 OMG me too! I am the perfect victim for for "limited edition" thing, wether it's luxury or just a soda flavour! Really, I look back and get sad. At least your video confirmed to me that I must stop doing that.
Thanks Mel for sharing as I go along with my collection! My first purchase was a Gucci tote bag that I may of sold for too cheap… I would love to see how you look and where you look for vintage items. I’ve recently been looking at vintage Chanel bags. Just don’t know where to start! Thanks!
Hi Mel! Firstly you look Beautiful ❤ What an enjoyable video! 🤩 The classic flap prices are 😨🤯 I have Jumbo on my wishlist but after this price increase which is crazy 1,000usd i don't know if I want to still buy🤔😬🙈 Your Pink CF is so pretty and such a good price 🥰😍 I completely agree on getting successful by sale and "oh that's the last piece" 🤣 and sometimes the "limited edition ones" I had bought a Keychain chain from escale collection which i don't use it all! 😅 Planning to let it go! But also glad I didn't buy a bag or something 🤣🤣 just a small slg😅 Lots of Love Mel so loved your video! ❤ #faMELy
Good things Mel , pay everything first, make sure you stable and then buy something u want. Dont know how someone can shop so much and never pay the debt first .

Love to see your videos always. I would love take some of your chanel earrings or lv small accessories if you think of letting them go.
Thank you for tagging me, Mel 💕Got me thinking through my collection already! I'll try to post my version soon 😉
Mel, can you please make a video about your entire luxury journey?
Thanks to your vintage handbag video I was able to discover vintage Gucci early enough for myself and my sister to snag the vintage version of the ophidia bags when they were still reasonably priced! Thank you!
I love vintage luxury hunting 🥰 any tips of good places to look?
I love Japanese vintage stores on eBay xx otherwise I check out local vintage stores in my city
As you mentioned you made a “how to score a birkin” video back in 2016 i just realised ive been following you for 5 yrs oredi. Love your collections Mel always ❤️
Thank you for being part of the fam bam for so long xx
Hi Mel, where do you like purchasing pre loved handbags?
I just share this in my latest video about Chanel lovely. I’ve linked some places there as well xx
@@MelinMelbourne thank you so much for your reply
FABULOUS tag video Mel. My biggest luxury regret is that I was afraid to purchase Chanel sooner. I wouldn't have my Jumbo if it wasn't for you. I will NEVER part with it and NEVER will part with her. Always searching for Chanel. 🌸🌼🌸
My first Hermes bag was the Birkin 35 in orange. I get so many compliments when I wear it! Your bags are lovely. Thanks for sharing.
13:07 OMG me too! I am the perfect victim for for "limited edition" thing, wether it's luxury or just a soda flavour! Really, I look back and get sad. At least your video confirmed to me that I must stop doing that.
I also bought a couple oversized bags and hoping they will come back in style so I can either sell them or use them again
Thanks Mel for sharing as I go along with my collection! My first purchase was a Gucci tote bag that I may of sold for too cheap… I would love to see how you look and where you look for vintage items. I’ve recently been looking at vintage Chanel bags. Just don’t know where to start! Thanks!
Hi Mel! Firstly you look Beautiful ❤
What an enjoyable video! 🤩 The classic flap prices are 😨🤯 I have Jumbo on my wishlist but after this price increase which is crazy 1,000usd i don't know if I want to still buy🤔😬🙈 Your Pink CF is so pretty and such a good price 🥰😍
I completely agree on getting successful by sale and "oh that's the last piece" 🤣 and sometimes the "limited edition ones" I had bought a Keychain chain from escale collection which i don't use it all!
Lovely video Mel ❤️❤️❤️
Love your vintage pieces!
If I want buy the wallet in Hermès, which one is best or which one brand is better.
I think SAs say things like “this is so hard to get” or “I can’t believe we have this in stock” to get you to buy them. 🤷♀️
You definitely did so good with starting Chanel journey early and getting all those classic flaps babe! 😍😘😘
Love how active you are on youtube ♡!
I’m so glad I decided to buy my lv speedy 25 with the strap!!!!! 💕
