in interloper it drops 20C in 50 days and stay there, in misery it starts colder but it ends up same as loper, in other lvls also for 50 days i believe it drops 15 for stalker and 10C for voyager, in philgrim it dont drop at all
@@ZainMax7 On Stalker you get same temp as interloper but later instead day 50 it's maxed at day 200 :) and because higher quality clothes you dont feel it as much.
Really the main benefit of Cold Fusion isn´t experiencing a blizzard at -33 degrees instead of - 36, which does not really matter. It is that it can be the difference between being cold and warm, and therefore the difference between taking cold damage or not. That is especially important in the early game, where it can determine whether you are cold or warm indoors.
The irony behind these feats is the lower the dificulty the more feats you can use, because they suppose to help make your runs easier but ironically when below stalker you don't need that many feats if not at all hence the irony.
You also need to master the mechanic related to the feat to unlock it to begin with so its practically worthless unless you wanna be superman in winter
Settled Mind is B tier , I never go back to caves for cabin fever Big cat killer is A tier especially in Stalker But for me cold fusion and efficient machine are still the best feats in the game
Agreed, although I don't travel as much as other players and mostly fish so calories aren't much of an issue for me so I rarely bring efficient machine.
I still wish their was a feat for fixing your own clothes that would give you a small bonus for fixing an item to new condition or a little extra durability or something beneficial
Actually the great about effecient machine in late game is that it makes your calories to last longer and that is critical because its risky to carry cooked meat with you and any other type of food is expensive because its not renewable. so you can explore 10% more before heading back to meat food
One problem i can see with the big cat killer feat is that you dont get a prior warning from wolves and bears when they spot you and when you are in charging range of them. I could imagine that a wolf that you didnt spot would normally bark at you and scare the shit out of you but give you enough time to run away. But with big cat the wolf might instantly charge you cause you got that close.
True. I only ever get into wolf struggles when I either miss like a dumb ass, or crest a hill to one I didn't see or hear. The feat would probably make that happen more.
This game is so balanced. I appreciate your perspective and the depth and quality of your videos. I learn something every watch and usually agree with your suggestions. Thank you.
Yeah it always felt like cold fusion, efficient machine and snow walker are the go to. Is a shame that the rest of the feats even new ones aren't as all present but rather affecting the way you play if you're actually willing to get their benefits.
Bathrobe I would love to see a video discussing updated strategies for long-term food storage/prioritization for spoilage. Nobody has made a video on the subject since tales from the far territory has been released. Idk if the cougar mechanic will work the same way if they add it back in but when they do I’d like to know how to stock well and stay in one place for a while.
I think one important thing to look at with feats is how much resources it saves you. For instance the fire master feat can save you a good bit of matches in loper runs where they can be quite rare. And the sprinter feat can save you a good bit of food in the long run if you use sprinting to out run blizzards
New subscriber here. I haven't played in a couple years... trying to bring myself up to date on the new stuff. So I've been binging your videos -- they're excellent. One topic I'd love to see is the new(ish) cooking system. Especially which new recipes are worth cooking, or not. I saw you had a video on the recipe locations, and that's very helpful. But there's more that just finding the recipe, or knowing the buffs/debuffs. Are some recipes enough better than basic foods to be worth the bother of gathering and carrying the special ingredients? Does it differ by game mode? Less likely to spoil? Smell? Etc. Thanks!
In my opinion I guess the best choice pick for a long run is Cold Fusion, Big Cat Killer, and settled mind. I only play stalker mode as of right now anyway. But if I can only pick 2 it'd be cold fusion and Big Cat Killer
Man I love settled mind. I rarely go outside irl so cabin fever always bugged me so much and made crafting huge pain. This perk honestly made the game much more enjoyable for me.
I didn't hear you mention it, but the Settled Mind feat is useless on Pilgrim and Voyageur because Cabin Fever is disabled on those difficulties, for those who may not know that to begin with.
Honestly, faithful cartographer should grant a feat that just gives you the map and your position arrow like in challenges and wintermute. It would be a much better version of celestial navigation.
More choices is always nice. They should buff the weak ones first, but plenty of interesting new ones they could do. Lower sprain chance, some base protection or windproofness, more successful struggles, a fishing based feat maybe. They could add a lot of new ones but I doubt it will be a priority.
An idea that me and a couple others were talking about on Reddit is some sort of feat for the Faithful Cartographer achievement, where it allows you to have all the vista locations already unlocked, so you don't need to find the Polaroids, you just have to go to the locations.
I yhink you underestimate sprinting. Sprinting from shelter to shelter is a great strategy in interloper, even in the coldest weather, especially when combined with 'warming up'.
I think they need to buff some of the older feats to be more viable or at least in a sense that they are just as valuable to use over the current meta ones
Except straight to the heart, i almost pretty much agree on everything else. In loper and above difficulties that Perk is definitely a S tier imo. I always take it when i play NOGOA.
My tierlist of feats ( Interloper ) : A tier ( overpowered ) : Cold Fusion , Settled Mind B tier ( strong ) : Big Cat Killer , Efficient Machine C tier ( decent ) : Snow Walker , Blizzard Walker D tier ( bad ) : Free Runner , Expert Trapper F tier ( Useless at long term ) : Straight To The Heart , Book Smarts , Fire Master Endless Night Tier ( only useful in custom endless night ) : Darkwalker , Celestial Navigator
Straight to the heart is somewhat renewable, what with acorn coffee existing. However, it’s not as good. Unless, of course, you want to meddle in trading
Hi I've played for years one many machines. One thing I never got but you might be able to help with is.... Do feat badges attach to your survivor when they unlock? I currently have a fresh 354 game on switch with no feats enabled at the start coz I didnt have any I've unlocked 4 of the feats already but I'm not sure if it's had an impact or I'm just better at the game after years 🤔
You can only select feats at the start of the game. So they won't be active until you start a new one, and even then you have to select only some of them, up to 5 on Pilgrim/Custom and less on higher difficulties.
@@Bashrobe as disappointing as it is not to be able to unlock all badges on to one character. I can't help but feel incredibly proud of how good I've got at the game. Considering it felt like the badges were active, but it was all a placebo. Either it man v nature now. Bring it on long dark dlc!!
I mainly like playing Interloper. I like the comfort of the struggle without it being over the top like NOGOA or too loot plentiful as in lower difficulties. Cold Fusion, Snow Walker and Efficient Machine I find are the most useful. In Interloper I always pick Cold Fusion and swap between Snow Walker and Efficient Machine for the second feat, usually Snow walker so as to make the early game a bit more "Struggle street" when trying to keep Well Fed maintained. Efficient Machine makes it too easy..... I should leave Feats off... but I can never do it. The OCD demands that those empty circles be filled. ;)
It's the hilltop cottage on the far side of Forsaken Airfield. It's also a possible vista location. Very pretty, would be a wonderful base if it wasn't so far away.
Couldnt Straight to the Heart be considered for short runs similar to firemaster by allowing faster earlygame progress with improved coffees and energy drinks/stims?
For my loper run i always pick Blizzard walker and cold fusion. After day 50, there almost every day strong wind or blizzard so that perk benefit u for whole game. Shame that Big cat killer perk is removed that ia very strong perk atm
Maybe one day they will rework the feats ? Make the 25% sprint faster work for climb ropes, crouching too ? Straight to the heart, give a 10% chance to not use the item ? The faster reading one, be twice as likely to find books, or maybe double the points given, or make it even faster ?
It doesn't. I think it's a bug tbh. But the pills are so good either way. And with coffee being renewable now, Straight to the Heart is a bit better than it used to be, more or less on par with other A tier feats.
Sprinting does use more calories per time unit. It's just that you also move faster per time unit, so overall you can cover more distance using less calories when sprinting. So if you're about to lose well fed but got food somewhere else on the map, sprinting there can be a good idea.
Straight to the heart is somewhat renewable, what with acorn coffee existing. However, it’s not as good. Unless, of course, you want to meddle in trading
There is an option in the game "the world gets colder" if you can talk about it. Like how often it gets colder. It would be really good.
in interloper it drops 20C in 50 days and stay there, in misery it starts colder but it ends up same as loper, in other lvls also for 50 days i believe it drops 15 for stalker and 10C for voyager, in philgrim it dont drop at all

That and it's constant and you are always benefiting from it. A lot of the feat are too situational.
Now we have cured meats this is basically useless feat for end game

Fair, but generally youll know by the time you're in range. Also youll definitely avoid more wolves with it than you accidentally hit.

The algorithm has truly blessed you, I don’t play this nor I even want to but your video appeared at the top of my recommendations
The need to make the research one better because it’s now completely useless since settled mind gives a research speed bonus and cabin fever immunity
