    I'd like to say, it's not how he passed, but what he did for country music, his voice. The wonderful songs i fell in love with. That's how i chose to Remember KeithWhitley
    Sure his death was sad but think of all he gave us in the short time he was here on earth.we are still playing his music, still loving his voice, that handsome face.i look at it this way, sometimes we are sent a angel to touch our lives, teach us a lesson, leave a mark in this world. I think Keith did that. I was young but when i heard his voice i went wow, he's special, he's going to be huge, he's going to make a huge impact in country music. He was indeed one of a kind. Now i look back think, what if he not been born, we would of heard all the great music, that wonderful voice. He was a Sweet Innocent Soul, that left a Huge mark in Country Music.. maybe he was not meant to be here long, so I'm not asking God Why. But i say Thank you Father God of most High.you sent us a Angel to give us some Beautiful Songs. Only you know why. So who am i to question you. Hence we are still talking about him still listening to his music. That's a Testiment of God Goodness. I'm sure you had a reason. So it's not how long he lived or how he died, but the fact he lived and left a one of a kind Legacy. Maybe he came to do what you sent him to do. His son is part of that Legacy. Out of all the Bad things I've heard. There's so many Good things he did. How he influenced so many after him. So his life was not a Bad thing. Though we see it as he was only here for a little while, look at what he did, the people he touched. That voice, the wonderful songs, the love that created a son, yes we know more now that he has passed. So we have all learned something. Ok he wasn't perfect, he made mistakes, but don't we all. We live and learn. I'm Greatful for what he left, the mark he made. It's not ours to Ask Why, but to say Thank You, for there being a Keith Whitely. 🙏 to Keith i say Thank You, you did make a difference. You left a Legacy that is very much Apperciated. You was one of a kind. Rest in Eternal Peace Keith. Whitely, you are not, nor will you ever be forgotten. 🕯💕💫✨🦋🌻💖. Love,Respect and Positivity Always. I'm still a fan. Neita james. 💖👣.

    Keith Whitley's untimely death of alcohol poisoning at age 34 was one of country music's greatest tragedies. He'd already reached the top and he still had more to prove to us musically. He was a great singer, songwriter and showman. I don't think anyone could ever top him. I just hope soon that he'll make it into the Country Music Hall of Fame. He deserves that more than anything.

    With Lorrie's divorce record, I believe these 2 would have eventually divorced, had he lived longer.... she said in an interview while married to Sammy, that she finally got it right. They divorced. I think she's on her 5th now (as of March 2022). Her marriage to Keith has been overly- romanticized because he died (IMO). If I'm counting correctly, they were together about 3 years.
    That said, I've always loved Keith's voice and song choices! ❤

    • @SK-xn1pv
      @SK-xn1pv ปีที่แล้ว

      @@garyr7027 No. Like so many other talented, beautiful individuals born to "celebrities" who were "managed" by corporations w/ agency ties, she was exploited by men early. Affiliated "physicians"/"coroners" were known for supplying all kinds of drugs, committing acts of sexual abuse, pedophilia, and covering up crimes or implicating convenient "patsies" for crimes during autopsies; a pattern that continues across the US. Lori was as dysfunctional as the overwhelming number of young girls today who were taught that sexual attention from a male = love. And, for the record, the term "gold digger" was coined by agencies to dismiss female victims and justify financial, psychological, even physical abuse by male narcissists. No respectable parent would ever want a daughter to involve herself, much less marry, any male without the intelligence and or (legal) means to support her and a family. That is called self-respect and more young ladies should have it. Lori also had/has loads of talent to make it on her own.

The only fact that you don't have is the most important one: what was Keith thinking about at that point! One can shrug it off and say it's irrelevant. But wouldn't his direct thoughts lead to the outcome. For example, you said what was found by the bed and then said the equivalent was 24 shots roughly . State facts and let people draw their own conclusions... thanks... d.

    So sick of early 80s country music, was so thrilled when Randy came along. Then Keith.
    I even met him & Lorrie for a brief moment (86-88) but was only a casual fan at that time. I knew he was good but "Miami My Amy" and "Hard Livin'" were commercial, generic, but his voice still stood out.
    I remember hearing of his death on the radio while driving home from (where I worked) the Airport Hilton in Nashville. I was on Shelby Ave. and felt sick. I realized that this was a gut-shot to traditional country music. I recall the commentators comparing him to George. By then, "I'm no Stranger to the Rain" had really grabbed me.
    The story about saying Keith was "too country" illustrated the inept people handling the business at that time, and since.
    There is no such a thing as too country.
    As a life long country music fan, (as Waylon was quoted saying) I now consider Keith the best singer we ever had. He was also a very talented writer which no one seems to ever mention.
    Assuming most here are dyed-in-the-wool Keith and country fans, just in case you haven't heard the songs "Lord, It Sure Is Drunk Out Tonight" and "I've Done Everything Hank Did But Die", check them out.
    Man, did we get robbed... again.

    I heard that he had cheated on Lorrie and felt so guilty about it that he literally drank himself to death. I also heard that one of the items he drank during his drunken stupor was anti-freeze. Is it true? I dunno, but to go on a binge that hard and in such a short time, nothing else can explain it.
    I watched my cousin go thru hell with her alcoholic husband (who was a nice guy and even nicer drunk) who pretty much lost his military career and brought their family to the brink of poverty. He died from a non-alcohol-related stroke-induced car accident at the age of 29. I will never get involved with anyone who has a drinking problem.

      @rebeccav9969 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @James greene wow! I'd never heard that about cheating, or his last 3 days. Tragic. Like I said in a separate comment.... had Keith not died soon soon, they would eventually have divorced (IMO), Lorrie's marriage/ divorce history is pretty busy!

      @James greene thank you for sharing that. Subject is moot since his death, but it's still interesting to learn about. People talk like the 2 of them would always be together...I disagree... I wonder as I mature, whether we are created to be monogamous in the first place. Faithfulness to one partner is RARE!

      I worked the county hospital in Dallas, we kept a bottle of whiskey in the narcotic lock up. Alcohol is the only thing that can be fatal when withdrawing from. They can go into D.T.'s and die. They will see, or feel spiders. Often they came to the hospital after drinking aftershave, for some reason it was almost always AquaVelvet. Anything with any type of alcohol in it. Many were found under bridges, homeless. They broke my heart. But, even THEY would tell you: they made their own choices, followed their own desires.
      Some things feel so good, you shouldn't try them once. Alcoholism and drug addictions are slow suicides, choices one makes. The Bible says it has a "bite (or sting?) like an adder". Which drink will be the one that tips you over the line?
      Learn from others mistakes- people make very profound statements when they are dying as a result of violence.
      Years ago In Dallas we had even more specialized training into handling trauma in the ER due to rival gang members coming in for retaliation, hospital lockdowns, shotgun and stab wounds, etc.
      At the center of most every death, the common denominators: drugs, alcohol and greed.
      As long as the world gives them excuses for their behavior, they're going to keep blaming everyone but the right one.

      @@rebeccav9969 The music industry is no different than the movie industry. It was/is dominated by corporations affiliated with US agencies which have targeted/used individuals, especially those recognized for their beauty/talent/intelligence, from an early age for their own purposes; that includes Lorrie, no different from figures like Angelina Jolie, Amber Heard, Marilyn Monroe, the Jackson kids, etc. Corrupt physicians (MD's, quacks, etc.,) affiliated with the same agencies have even been exposed in documentaries like in Athlete A, involving gymnasts and biographies like the one based on 50"s pinup star Candy Jones. The "industry" also kept their "stars" supplied with drugs/alcohol (eg.Elvis, Michael, George Jones/Tammy Wynette, performers living in Laurel Canyon in the 60's/70's), via those same "doctors" and insiders, including those hangers-on who are financially dependent on the individual's success/failure. As families have become increasingly destabilized, Lorrie is similar to all the other young, dysfunctional females who have also been conditioned to associate sex with love/approval from men.

    Whitley I believe was another person that was in doubts of himself. Things were going well but when you are addicted to alcohol or drugs, it is a constant fight within yourself. I think had he lived, he would eventually would have got control of his life, to live to the fullest. Alcoholism is a sickness and it takes a lot to conquer, if you can.
    He was an amazing singer and I believe nothing meant more to him than his wife and kids, but your devils taunt you and make you feel like no one, until you believe it and give in to their wants. R. I. P..

      @James greene Let's try this again. I live very close to Keith's house in Kentucky...not his house in Tennessee. No matter what Lorrie says, I have heard enough people badmouthing her and Keith to last me a lifetime. The bulls*t that keeps coming out of people's mouth around here and even for so many years is idiotic. I don't care what her book says. Enough is enough. She's not responsible for his death ( the most common thing you'll hear) and the stuff said about Keith is disgusting and I'm not repeating that. Bottom line...Keith is dead and Lorrie isn't. It's way past time for people to shut up. The vast majority of people around here are still protective of them and we don't tolerate anyone bad mouthing them. Dang I was gonna make a similar comment about Kurt Cobain. The problem with fame and signing to a major label is that it comes with the proviso that you have to play to a professional standard every time? What ultimately did for Kurt was one of those awful 90s intervention jobs where everyone threatens tough love if they don’t clean up. That Keith died also died alone the comparison is there in that they must of felt like they had nobody in the world to turn to. I’ve tried getting clean for family and friends and it just doesn’t work. Great Artists like Keith and Kurt are all about their craft and imo they can’t be doing with the perceived normal person syndrome and detest folk who have no right to judge em. We can all dislike their drinking and drugging but we’ve no right to judge them as ultimately Keith sounded like a nice person

      Exactly. If anyone has lived with an alcoholic in their immediate family for years, it would be very, very difficult to accept the story we're told regarding Keith's death. Furthermore, why does Keith not appear inebriated in any footage of him on talk shows or performing? Surely, if he was such an alcoholic that he would resort to drinking random concoctions such as hairspray and water or cologne, then he would show his poor judgment, at least, every once in a while, and get a little sloppy in front of the camera. However, we never see this. What we DO see, is a gentle soul with a voice that stands the test of time, outliving many others.

Some people just don't know when or how to stop and its not just booze, look at how many people have eaten themselves into heart attacks, or blow all of their money to the point where they're penniless and obviously there are plenty of cases where drug abuse was the culprit.
