Thank you and I will take this under consideration! It’s deftly not an equipment issue as I have already upgraded to a Sony camera and boom mic. It’s deftly more of an operator error (myself) with using the gear. I’m still learning and I will get better! I deftly appreciate the feedback and thank you for viewing! 😊
Hey what’s up man! If you ever read this there is setting - in your camera settings called IS stabilization or “stable shot” also your lens could have a switch that says something about stabilization. Always make sure your on Auto focus I would suggest shooting in an Auto video setting or if you understand the differences. Go for 30fps with a shutter speed of 1/60 always. Honesty if you can do it use Auto iso that’s digital light pretty much that you can add in camera. If your shooting 60 fps then shutter speed 1/120 or 1/125
I have two local fish stores near me. 1 is a true local fish store, whilst the other is a branch store called Maidenhead Aquatic in the UK. They are not as big as Petco and Pets at Home (UK's version of Petco). The Maidenhead Aquatic in my local are very passionate. The place and the tanks are always clean, the staff are very friendly and sometimes act like they don't even work there. On the other hand, it's the polar opposite. The owner doesn't even want to be there, the place is a filth.
Thanks for sharing! Yes, here in the US big box stores appear to just sell to make money and share no passion in the hobby. It’s kinda sad, but that’s what is so awesome about the LFS. They are typically ran by someone who is true and passionate about the hobby.
The employees these days at Petco will not know as much as the employees at your local fish store. I find that sad. About 30 or so years ago, I was the instore animal specialist. You used to have to study a guidebook and take a test to be certified in an animal department. Not only do I have a degree in wildlife biology, but I also have a certificate in animal husbandry. I took all the animal department tests and passed and became a very sought-after animal specialist. Lots of other stores than the one I worked at used to call me for advice. I was in charge of all the animal departments and directly took care of the aquatic section. At the time, we had nice saltwater tanks and freshwater tanks. These days, they mainstreamed what is carried, and most Petcos no longer carry saltwater fish. I had that job for about 10 years before they downsized everything they carried and scraped the animal specialist program. When that happened, I was no longer the animal specialist, and new employees no longer had the knowledge to properly care for the animals or help customers. Sadly, I was reduced to only an aquatics maintainer and was no longer in charge of all the animal departments, and I saw the care and maintenance go downhill as it was no longer my job to care. The animal care was mainstreamed, and not as much was done as the company felt all that was being done was overkill and not necessary and would save the company money. As I began to see a decline in the overall health of the animals and was getting into trouble for trying to help them, as this was now against policy, and most medications and preventatives were scrapped from use, I quit.
I appreciate you sharing your story and taking the time to watch. Yes, I would agree it’s a completely different world from a big box store to an LFS. I hope with time things like this can be improved upon.
@@REEFHUB-Official for sure I’ll be sure to say hello if I see you I am so glad I came across this video as I knew no one in the area did this. This was a great video comparing both stores gave me a lot of insight and a lot to think about on where I want to shop also never knew Gerbers medicated their fish which is great to hear
I have been to a couple Petco where the aquatics person knew what they are doing, but then when I returned they no longer worked there. The one I actually caught the footage at used to have someone who was amazing, but I found out later on that person now works for an LFS in his area lol 🤷
Honestly, I feel like this is 100% depending on location. Our local Petsmart has one of the smartest people I've ever encountered in the fish hobby. On the other hand, the LFS here in Morgantown is a fucking mess. They're knowledgeable, but their tanks are a disaster. The fish are all lethargic, and the water is green in some tanks. I could go on, I once saw a dead fish in the same tank on consecutive days in there too. The LFS's on the video look amazing though, and that second guy really knew his stuff.
This is true as well! I went to Petco the other day to pick up some Nori and got to talking with the aquatic worker there. He was deftly a hard core hobbiest and knew everything in the tanks!
There are deftly some decent Petcos out there. A friend of mine has a Petco near him that actually has rimless tanks that uses T5 lighting. I was stoked when I heard that!
Stopped watching due to shaky cam and audio. You should consider investing in some better equipment. The content was pretty good though.

@B-Offical Equipment is expensive! You did a great job bub! I can already tell you are not recording on an iPhone and have very good audio!
You’re right. Already invested in a camera and a boom mic. I just need to not have a shakey hand but I’ll get better as I go :)

@@chrisa9216 Yup! Camera Settings are still new to me. I will certainly take a look at these! Thanks!!!
Awesome representation of why we should always shop at the lfs, and not the pet box stores! We can't afford to lose any more ma and pa fish stores!!!
Exactly! The amount of knowledge at the LFS is limitless compared to the big box stores!
Petco cracks me up! That guy at Gerbers knew his stuff though!
He sure did!!!

I’ve seen maidenhead in MD and Matt’s videos and I wish I had something similar near me. We just have chain stores

These are right in my area I have been checking out aquatic galore quite a bit recently
Hello then Neighbor! Nice!!! I wouldn’t be surprised if we bump into each other sometime!

@@landongara837 ya I didn’t know either until I did the video! Big thumbs up for them in doing so!
All petco arent the same! all fish from petco outlived my fish from lfs.

Cool video bro 🤘
Thanks for the visit
Good video. Gerbers is like 5 minutes from my house.
Very nice! It’s a very nice LFS!

My local Petco, it's cleaner has better selection and the people that work there are more knowledgeable. Then my local fish store's near me. Lol
