I wonder how much the boat builder would charge for a set of plans? From studying the videos I bet with some dimensions I could recreate a Longtail riverboat Made in USA. It would be neat to build one with wood grown in the USA and put a american engine on it then race the two boats.
Super cool of you to do the breakdown , it’s even more cool that you chose to get a real long tail and run it on the Florida waters . Like others have said in previous uploads , please don’t wrap it and hide that beautiful wood craftsmanship
Love the breakdown and the transparency with the Longtail riverboat! I have enjoyed watching the journey you have had with this new boat and excited to see it in the states. Also happy birthday to the pup Winston!
Excellent brake down Parker, let's get this man to 100k. You're pod cast room is delicious, the blue tones and light string is so relaxing. Hugs to Winston. Thanks.
Like many I’ve seen these turbo diesel chooching long tails on the internet for a few years now. Your “turn-key” delivered price is right in between what I guessed you paid for just the boat (40-50k). Actual cost is wild, delivery cost is not surprising though. Really sucks you cannot bring that sweet custom built engine but if you sell that back there’s some funds to deduct from the total I guess.
Living in the Philippines is so much cheaper as well, the exchange rate to day is almost 58 pesos to 1 us dollar. I'm just like you, I can wait to share gifts ASAP. Great video....
so if you hire the boat bilders and buy the tickets in Bangkok fly them to Murica let them build a second one and it will cost you little less than a 3rd of the price... it worth it, make it a video :)
New subscriber here from your brothers channel who's also named Garrett... For a second there I thought TJ Hunt had a second channel about teeth and turbos 😮😂.
Don't they sell coffee table engine blocks out of Thailand? Would be cool if they took that engine apart and made it into an exploded view engine table for you. Maybe as a Christmas present. That's all I'm saying.
Great breakdown... Think we would all be happy if food prices were the same as places like Thailand (could be done if there wasn't so much politics involved, here in NZ we eat food that we export and re-import or get the crap left overs) Keep enjoying yourself... As a engine builder once said if you know who does it best import them to build it in your own country for a few weeks and this can also give people an experience of a life time
Check and see who needs a container when you are done with it. I wouldn’t doubt if Garrett, JH or someone else in the group could use a container on their land to store stuff in.
You can get that motor for a lot cheaper than that if you just tear the one down you got and send it in pieces you can't send it all at the same time you got to send it days or even weeks apart but you won't have to pay no 10 grand for a motor
Sometimes cheap ends up being not cheap when you jump through all hoops to get it home, but nobody else is going to have one. If you want it and have the money without any hardship more power to you. Probably technically it's still cheap, I've never played in the speciality boat world.
Im a little bumbed regarding no more car content. That was great entertainment. But I watch for you and who you are and your continuing story. Hopefully, the new engine will be as good, or better possibly?
9000 dollars for a 40 foot container is A LOT. I hope that was for them to build the thing to hold the boat too. Those containers are not that expensive
I thought that was cheap for a 40 ft container to be shipped here. I have heard guys claiming double that to get cars and other toys shipped here in a container from over seas, maybe weight plays into it too though.
@@lnr12241 Look at his cost breakdown, the 9K was for shipping , i bet he meant shipping container and shipping. At least i hope because like you said, these arent that expensive. Especially close to any ports, these suckers are almost free if you can haul them off.
He should stay with the 4JJ1 motor on it. It would be the first ever 4jj1 in the states which is very cool and 4jj1 would produced better power but a 4bt would be a good idea as the parts are much available in US
But you have to admit you may have the only long tail boat in the US I don't think you'll see any at the boat club LOL You have to park it in your driveway to piss off the HOA
You obviously aren't anywhere near a bayou... Plenty of long tail boats around. They are almost a necessity in swamps and shallow water. Granted, I've never seen one tricked out like this though.
@Chris-zo5ze What you're talking about is a aluminum hull boat with a air-cooled motor around Louisiana swamps. What he has is a hand built wooden thailand boat not many around at all
@robertjohnson4784 yep... a wooden boat wouldn't last long bashing over logs in a bayou. Still a Longtail though. Those Thai longtails are purpose built drag boats.
@DrMitchell Make the engine into a open view coffee table to import it . Thai people are amazing at building those tables . Then re assemble it once it gets to America . The turbo and piping and all the bolt on stuff can just be shipped to America . Problem solved .
It’s a cool boat but where I live and the rivers I run that boat would be match sticks. The gasconade river in missouri would chew up and spit out a wooden boat. Be cool at lake of the ozarks when it’s calm and all of the cut idiots have left for the year
Is this CB Media old boat ? He had one started and never finished it . Then sold it to an American , before it hit the water . Congrats on your purchase .
Yea that's its 140000 more, but you put allot of stuff🎉 . 9000 us dollar for shipping that's way way to much guess they suck you bone dry, plus you have to buy a container 🎉 I whis you all the best 🎉
Can you post posted me the engine specs? HP Torque Turbo size Turbo boost psi Weight of engine I’m looking for 2 engines just the engines and shipping them to Connecticut USA
Is this what yall thought it costed?
it's going to cost more to probably freight it across the ocean to FL,... lol, not really; however it's going to be a big chunk!!
costed?! c'mon!!
You could say he is being accosted by these grammar police

A few more of these good videos, and that boat will pay for itself, bro!!! Keep it up. I’ll always support yal guys

Super duper stoked on this project, these boats look awesome! Thanks for itemizing the cost breakout, that’s really interesting. 🙂
thank you for sharing, its cool to see
Cool video. Enjoyed watching ✌️ 😎
nice that you included stuff like flights , hotel , food ect , most youtubers would leave that out whenever showing how much their import cost them
Had to put it all out there!
Keep it up Dr Mitchell. I'm a boat guy also..do it!
Great video. Thanks for sharing
Good job parker!🎉
I just subbed because the badass boat of course 🏁🏁🏁🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲 cheers from Michigan

Congratulations on your beautiful long tail. There can’t be lot of those monsters in the USA. Just be careful. It looks dangerous, but really fun.

Like some other guy said, turn the motor into a coffee table and ship the rest separate
Just curious what you sold the motor to the builder for?
Good job brother
Thanks
What are you doing for your office staff this year? I remember the shopping spree video…
Just watching one of your previous videos i had the thought in my head that the boat was cheaper than getting it here
Probably not feasible with tooling and what not, but how much might it have cost if you flew the builders over and they built it in the states?
15-20k is about what its worth in the states.
For 70-80k you should be getting something much cooler and refined.
I follow you. Your support Thailand 🇹🇭 My country
Thank you for your support

Could you not take the engine to bits and ship in the components then rebuild it when it gets to the us?
So how much did the price go down because I’m sure the boat builder got to keep the engine
Did we need an event for these in Sarasota.
ขอบคุณครับ❤❤❤
What about a custom trailer for that bad boy?
You’ll easily make your money back on this boat in no time. Cool 👍🏼
I am a freight broker and could definitely cut that shipping bill down. Holler at me, I would love to help get that boat on US soil!
I can hear Cleetus, " put a LS in it"

Ok, I’m sure it was stated in another video but I haven’t found it. So, can you tell me why the engine cannot come to America?

Why can't you import the engine?

@warrenmichael918 he said 9000 just to buy the container. PLUS shipping. We buy those containers at work often, for way less than that
@@lnr12241 Look at his cost breakdown, the 9K was for shipping , i bet he meant shipping container and shipping. At least i hope because like you said, these arent that expensive. Especially close to any ports, these suckers are almost free if you can haul them off.

Help this brother out!
What about a 4BT Cummins motor? You can make lots of power also. Easy to get in the states as well. I hope you hit 100K soon buddy

Hahaha I should!

I know you just got the engine shipped in boxes. But why couldn’t you put the engine in the container and ship it?

What was the reason for not being able to bring the engine into the states?
typical political protectionism in guise of epa policies
@@allochris I saw the short shorty after i posted this, much BS.
Holly crap, steam powered container ship 😬
If you’re seeing a stall in your sub count, try switching up the style, flow, edit, length etc.. not all at once but give something a shot
I actually know exactly how much Mitchell's riverboat costs.. *42 five gallon buckets full of pennies*

I don't understand why you not ship the engine in parts and just assemble it
It would have been much cheaper to get measurements of the boat and build it in America.
Should have just put a 4BT comments in it. Or volkswagen TDI
Cheaper then I thought. I figured around 25k-35k
Should've built it in the US!
Should build a mercedes diesel for like 2500

You put it on a steam ship? 🤣. Great cost breakdown. I figured you would be into it a little more that with all of the miscellaneous added in
You should have bought two or three if you are paying for the whole shipping container.
Thanks for not saying how much one would cost.
Why can’t that motor on the boat come back to the states?
Because of the EPA laws
Why can't he ship the engine whole?
Can you post posted me the engine specs?
HP

are you gonna get a trailer to put this 30 ft long boat onto so you can move it around here in the states cause our waterways are not connected?
What I want to know is, how tight was that snap back to not fly off while absolutely ripping Gator?!
Fr putting them on backwards normally makes them fly off easier 😂
It’s crazy because your doing 45mph max.. a lot of money for 45mph on the water
It’s the acceleration that I chase
Why can't you send that Isuzu along with it? Import regulations or does it not pass emissions or something? :P
EPA won’t let it in
@@DrMitchellwhy not just make it emissions compliant and ship the turbos and other parts with it
