@@LowdownBoy while performing live and playing guitar at the same time. Do you think the Beatles were always perfectly on pitch every live performance? Get your head out of your ass.
@@kevinadams6726 Yeah yeah, the whole everyone wipes their ass argument.. heard it before. The Beatles really can't be compared this way with the likes of many. Not equivalent. Sorry you're upset, I didn't mean to provoke YOU when I posted that 2 months ago. Shit happens though.
@@LowdownBoy How can the beatles not be compared? They sang live also, and probably messed up more than Lizzie Powell does. So you are saying she sucks as a singer because she was ever so slightly flat one time in a live performance? Go listen to some autotuned bullshit.
Her voice is incredible. She sounds exactly the same as the recordings. Super rare for an artist nowadays. Seems like she has been through some shit since I saw her on an ABC special years ago.
:’( remember finding out about them back in 2008 I was only 14 years old I had bought an iPod touch from saving up lunch money, back then Apple use to have free downloadable songs and music videos each day. That’s how I first heard of “land of talk - it’s ok” and grew to love it.
I had an them on my mp3 player alongside Terminal and Coldplay! Then Metric and Imogen Heap aka Frou Frou in high school circa 2007. I would jam to them before science class and during lunch time. Those were the times.
(Standing applause). Excellent excellent excellent job to all of you. As Apple Music says “a magnificent return to form”. Thank you for sharing your music with us. It’s like medicine.
Land of Talk is kind of an acquired taste for certain situations. Their music is some of my first picks when I'm out mountain biking. I can't really dedicated listen to them but they add a nice ambience
Saw a vid of them playing song...I guess its called "You are the end". I wonder is it recorded to an album? Is it a cover is that why I can't find a recorded version?
Land of Talk had some interesting songs on their Some are Lakes album. I think their newest one is worth a listen, but it isn't one that I personally play on repeat.
I love that she comes with no makeup, no cool clothes, no b*llshit, just present herself as she is, her voice and their music being the only thing that matters. True actual-real-punk attitude
Please have another listen to Some Are Lakes, or any previous Land of Talk release. Life After Youth is so compressed it's like listening to music through a wall.
Will do. I have to admit it's pretty incredible when I lose track of production value because the song writing is so good. Thanks for your reply. Cheers!
@@elbschwartz This is really true, previous albums, especially Some Are Lakes, sound different. That one got lot more air in it. But anyway the latest one is great, way more compressed, but is sounds fine.
Indie rock starter pack: - Play two chords on a grungy guitar with stickers on it - Make sure bassist uses a pick - Sing about how "some things never change" or "the cold wind of this town", the more overused the better Seriously, I know there's better music out there, KEXP, and you do too.
Rob Roilen - This is a new lineup by the way. Check out some of their older stuff. Liz is really a creative and talented guitarist and I Love her Voice and lyrics. Maybe you'll appreciate her early work more. I'm just glad she looks happy and is playing again. May there be Happiness to all who have Love in their heart.
This band has been around longer than most of the bands who play on KEXP have been able to drive. Not to say that seniority = better but KEXP picked land of talk because she's been around for awhile, has a devoted following and always puts out consistently good stuff. I'm sorry if it doesn't move you but....uh..you have no idea what you're talking about. Go back to listening to parquet courts
"New innovative stuff" Nothing about this performance is new or innovative. If it's new material for her, that's great, but KEXP can do better than rehashing tired sounds.
Lizzie Powell is an incredible songwriter with one of the most beguilingly beautiful voices ever recorded.
Did you only stay for 30 seconds? Because at 0:37 it's noticeably flat.

This version of Inner Lover is even better than on the album. Both the music and the voice. Well done Liz
The ending of Loving gave me chills.

I want to wrap myself up in her voice and fall asleep.

Lizzie was my first musician crush back in 2009. Her voice always managed to tickle my spine.
very happy I stumbled upon these guys today:)
I rock with this set...Coming from a serious hip hop background. She sounds beautiful

Way better than the album. Whoever mixed the sound on Life After Youth did an awful job.
Strongly disagree. Please have another listen.

Thinking bands just get to choose which sessions they do was your first mistake
