I find it a crazy that a Caribbean country has its own subway system. Kinda shows that Dominican republic is definitely going in the right direction! Getting a cable car across the city is certainly unique and I wish more cities had that! 😂

The cable car line is not for touristic purposes, it is to facilitate, those unplanned communities, an easier access to the metro lines. In the mid to late 60's there was a gradual migration, mostly from the rural, poor southern areas of the country, into the city, makeshift dwellings were improvised in empty lots, belonging to the state or private individuals.
There was a plan developed by the last administration, an intervention to try to organize the area. The eastern side of the riverbank is cleared of all those houses that can be seen of the western side of the river.

The cable car ride was so amazing. It definitely shows the disparities between the poor and rich. The metro system is pretty impressive and glad it's kept safe with security. The river looks a bit choked with weeds...hopefully things can change for that and the people. Such a beautiful, colorful city.

Congratulations, you got to be on the teleferic and the subway first than me as a Dominican...! By the way, Dominican Spanish language comes from Canarian Island in Spain, and it is beautiful for many reasons you probably can't observe in short period of time. And like in many countries including the USA, it all depends on the cultural level of the person. For example, I invite you to have a conversation with a person such as Juan Luis Guerra, late Oscar de la Renta, Pastor Yesenia Then and many others... On the other hand, the panoramic views shall be more beautiful, but what happened is that Dominican governments have tried to relocate those people under the bridge paying for their properties several times to modernize the area under the bridge. But they usually take the money and later came back to be closer to the city center where they can make living easier. This is creating a social puzzle/dilemma for the good intentions of the Dominican Governments. Well, to be short, Thank You for your interest in knowing the Dominican Republic and for sharing your experience with us. We hope you make more videos showing other beautiful parts of the Dominican Republic (Quisqueya La Bella!) and enjoy all of them. May God bless you and "hasta la vista...!"

Seemed very cheap for what you got there, especially when they will have to pay for security on each coach of the train. Judging by some of the housing I guess some people may get a bit desperate at times so the trains need security. Pretty relaxing and a great way to see Santo Domingo. Funny you should mention the UK winds as we have a storm coming in this weekend with super high winds! 🌬

Santo Domingo has a crime rate a little above New York City but generally crime is centralised in the poorer neighbourhoods. I think in the Americas security presences are generally larger than we're used to in Europe, and guns more normalised. The cable car length is 4.2km altogether so in real money a little less than 3 miles I think!

The Dominican Republic is not in the North. It is one of the three bigger islands in the Caribbean Archipielago and about in the center of the American continent.
Our spanish is since 1492 and after that Spain stablished itself with different estates and different languages, so our is kept with our own accept but it is not a particular patua as you say it, we still read Cien anos de Soledad, Don Quixote, but we say it Quijote with emphasis on the j no x, no like texas, for us it is Tejas which it is roof, no Mexico it is Mejico, ect.
Now, h@!t!@ns do have their own language, which it is Creole o patua and also French because France established in La Isla La Espanola with their African military men, and later brought to the island slaves whom spoke different languages; the island La Española was already a Spanish estate with criollos or mestizos.

No we are center of the continent, it is our lines in the geophysical unles the holandeses who are stealing our maritine litorales are changing it graphically since they changed their names to paises bajosos to steals our soberanias in the waters of the ocean, giving to three little islands o islotes, their colonies the estatus of countries with 500 thousands of habitants and and taking a three quarter parts of the litoral waters as equal to our territorial density of litoral waters, and we are about 12 millions habitants, and it is unifying to in open waters from our open waters of the ocean in from of us.@no_soy_rubio

@@no_soy_rubionorth, in the middle center, between Northamerica and Mejico, it is a line center with and across the other spanish countries.
It is a convenious and estrategic division for the usa to control us.

@@neliathen638 There's two continents only named "America", North America, and South America. EVERY country in the world is part of a continent.
The conspiracy theories are hilarious to read on TH-cam sometimes. I think you need to go look at an atlas.

much wealth is amassed in this city with such an awful transit system.
