❤ Beautiful vid. Matt..incredible churches, vivid coloured buildings...lovely food catering for all tastes, fruit yup..waffles yup, coffee with smiles yup, cheeky parrots...wonder what they were saying..😅 .you shouldn't feel guilty because you're paying towards locals' economy ❤
This is a beautiful colonial city with rich history, vibrant architecture, delicious food and proximity to natural attractions. Thank you for taking us along 👍☺️
The penny has just dropped 🎉 It was like watching a travel show on TV, but with a more realistic audience of places of affordable beauty. Wishing you every success for the new year
Beautiful and very interesting video Matt. Those carrots must’ve been huge!! The lunch looked delicious too, very rustic place, really liked it and the food market directly after was fantastic!! I spotted a plastic covering on the balcony railing … any idea why? 😊 love how you were able to get your converse repaired (and glad you did) “make do and mend”!!! I can relate to your ‘conscience’ after hearing Pedro’s story. ❤😊
The carrots here are humongous 😅 plastic covering on which balcony? Sorry I must have missed that bit! Yep, I hadn't planned on getting them fixed but he did a good job, bless him! He's meant to be making a minor repair to my tent at some point, if I can find him again! 😅
That was quite a colorful trip. Loved the parrots following you around. But my favorite bit was that eatery with Ewan McGregor - I'd probably visit the country just to try a banana burger. ^_^
Another city with a good vibe Matt. I agree, there are definitely hints of Andalucian architecture and that hotel with the courtyard and fountains was surely designed on the Alhambra palace in the city's namesake. The Spanish conquistador at 19:30 bears a striking resemblance to someone....😄Look forward to seeing the lake trip Matt, hopefully not involving man-eating sharks!
Hi Matt, I loved the old Colonial Spanish-style architecture. The cafe catering particularly to the deaf was lovely. Setting a new trend with the straw behind your ear?! 😂 I also feel so sorry for the poor horses who are made to cart tourists around. I imagine they're not always treated well. Nice Insta pic! 👍😀 Oh my, no chance of a game of footie on that pitch! Aw, you had an uninvited guest in your room! Thanks for sharing your adventures with us. Very cool 😎
Another very entertaining episode Matt those churches are something aren’t they 👌🏻 Some amazing food along the way too and a few friendly parot’s 🦜 Stay safe best wishes Simon 👍🤠
Gotta agree with your statement, it is a very beautiful city! That burger you had for lunch was 😍 Shame the weather was so windy but at least you got that pint in. £2 for beer is a steal 😂 Those converses must have gone through a lot of miles to be in that state!
Granada is beautiful! The place you stayed at looks awesome with those windows and balcony. That parrot seemed to laugh with a Spanish accent? Too funny about the forgotton straw. The views from the church were awesome. Loved the tour, and wow, that burger looked amazing! Cool to know about the freshwater sharks. Those waves were pretty impressive. I enjoyed this very much!
Totally forgot the straw while walking, that's cute Matt. Beautiful churches/cathedrals, sadly some are closed. Chicharon is also very popular here in the Philippines usually eaten as 'pulutan' (bar snacks). Thank you for the tour as always and take care!
I still wonder what happened to the straw 😅 I didn't know chicharron are popular there too! I know there are some similarities with the Spanish connection
@@no_soy_rubio 😄. The things you discover in places! Spain colonized many countries, Philippines being one of them. Looking forward to other places in Granada Matt! ❤
Did you find a Juliet in your whereforth art though accommodation? 😂 can see why you think it’s the most beautiful city around 😁 and that cafe was such a heartwarming one. Good for them. Such a rich history and tradition walking around. The view up the bell tower really showed this and those orange rooftops and design. Just seems you weren’t allowed to go down too quickly 😂 great exploring around this very colorful town dude. Thanks for sharing.
Great value Airbnb. Very charming place. Really is like going back in time. What’s this now? A deaf cafe! Trendsetting straw Matt. Great view from the bell tower, are you allowed to give it a ring while you’re up there? Maybe for 20p more? Carrot slices? Thats very healthy, you will have night vision after that meal. Granada is my favourite Spanish City, this place lives up to its name. Plenty of instagram spots there by the lake. 19th largest and sharks? Very un lake like! The washing was the icing on the cake! A parrot intruder! Trainers fixed while you eat. Spot on 👍
Haha I'm not sure it'll catch on now plastic straws are banned in a lot of places 😅 there are signs saying you can't ring the bell, I timed it badly actually as someone was ringing the bell just before I went up and I'd have had to wait 50ish minutes for them to ring it again (no thanks). Yeah, Granada Spain is great, best tapas there 🐷
Your vid starts with a quote from Shakespeare* (*respect) and you show you are familiar with the Latin plural of cactus, being cacti* (*even more) Great vid Matt... every vid of yours allows us to know something about a part of the world that many of us just would never know. Take care mate
@@no_soy_rubio Always impressed with what you say mate... love the Rubio and Juliet reference!! when I need cheering up mate I go straight to the real Rubio!
The old Hospital San Juan is in ruins because it is said to be haunted because of the fire. There were attempts to rebuild it but the hauntings made it impossible. Great Video Matt.
I thought we talked about calling it "Central America"? hahaha! Man, Granada looks awesome, I love all the quiet side streets and the local restaurants. Looks pretty.. wait for it.. economico too! 😂
It was nice! I was worried there'd be some grisly bits of beef or tripe or something in there but thankfully there weren't 😅 nothing worse than having to force down nasty food 🤣
Great video Matt really Granada is and very old city, I can see very poor people there, it would be a more beautiful city if they did maintenance on the old buildings and historical constructions, but it shows there is no money, poor people, that is the policy of those who govern there. It is true that sometimes we doubt when people tell us their sorrows and miseries and cry too much for you to give them a coin, many times it is a lie because those who have great needs out of pride do not go crying with people in the street. Have a great weekend my friend.
Yes it's a very poor country (2nd poorest in Americas after Haiti) so people need to make money however they can, and sometimes there's no work or work doesn't pay well at all. I won't say too much on here as I don't want to be political but yes, it is a beautiful city and would be even more beautiful with more maintenance 🙏
The only issue I have with Granada is the trash. The beach of the lake is so filthy i just walked away. And for some reason many many people throw their trash is open lots and canals etc. if there was a trash system that cleaned that up…. City would be a 10 out of 10
Totally agree with you there. I don't understand the mentality. Most of it is plastic waste too so it's not going anywhere anytime soon. And by the lake there are enough receptacles so there's no excuse for it
@ with tourism being so important, I think they should have like a community day or something that they announce like they announce people’s deaths etc. using the car with the loud speaker. Have a set day every couple weeks that everybody goes out and cleans the porch and street in front of their houses. Have some city workers comb the entire beach for a few days. Preach the need for cleanliness in general and have it come from the top…. Wouldn’t take much to get it together if everybody pitched in.
I'm 50/50. Antigua has more beautiful buildings and more beautiful volcanoes in the background. Granada is cheaper, much less tourists and has the lake to cool off on hot days. Both have similar histories and cultures
❤ Beautiful vid. Matt..incredible churches, vivid coloured buildings...lovely food catering for all tastes, fruit yup..waffles yup, coffee with smiles yup, cheeky parrots...wonder what they were saying..😅 .you shouldn't feel guilty because you're paying towards locals' economy ❤
Haha I know one of the parrots says his own name and the rest of the time is singing, usually loudest at 7am so I don't need an alarm clock 😅

Worth the trip just for the banana burger 🍔🍌😎
Really enjoyed this, thank you Matt.

Es muy lindo ❤❤ y tiene una muy linda arquitectura colonial 😊😊😊 y la calidez de su gente. Te hace sentir como en casa ❤❤❤❤

I like the friend you made at 21:00. The church was very beautiful. Very nice city.
Thanks, yeah he's a nice guy. He's meant to be fixing my tent though and I haven't seen him since that day (I still have my tent btw) 😅
A Great and Beautiful video Matt. Like 99 👍

He doesn't like men apparently, get anywhere near him and he bites 😅
That deaf cafe is super unique. Crazy good find

We are Central Americans, not South Americans

Antigua is better preserved, but geographically Granada is better, you have a lake and a volcano, also Apoyo Lagoon and great architecture as well.
