Honestly, the only decals that belong on a 911 are either the cool retro "PORSCHE" decal you see along the bottom of the door or...well...that's it. Unless you're driving a rally car, that's about the only decal the car should ever have.

With a machine like this you don't need to put decals all over the place to garner attention. But yeah, they look absolutely horrific. Personally I'd prefer the 911 Gt3, but the turbo is the better more rounded package. I really do like this gen turbo though
That's what it is for me. It's kinda perfect and doesn't particularly have a character, that's what I thought about this and the 720S but it's not true. They do but I think they do need some mods to add a touch of flair because as they are, they don't particularly amaze me to look at or hear.

I think the penny has dropped Tom.....Supercars are all very dramatic but seriously flawed to drive in an overcrowded country with bloody awful road quality, plus a lot of your driving is in town. This may seem a boring 'default decision car' but you really couldn't need anything faster, and just look at how useful it is....look at the great visibility you have - you can even see behind you! When you look at it like that, the price seems more reasonable.
Here’s the problem with not only supercars in general, but even with “less powerful” cars like an older Porsche Carrera with a measley 385hp: you really can’t DRIVE them anywhere without either getting a ticket or outright losing your license and getting tossed in jail! Plus, too much traffic, too many slow drivers. Heck, in this car, you’d be at 100mph at half throttle merging onto the freeway! Great car, just NOWHERE to drive it to it’s potential except on a track.
I drive an all black A35 and see this car as like it’s big rich older brother that keeps to himself most of the time but will happily flex on everyone with his patek and model girlfriend out in Greece when he feels like it.
The new Turbo S is absolutely amazing, it is an absolute beast when you mash your foot to the floor. And those brakes, you are absolutely correct the stopping power is unlike anything you will experience in a car. I was worried about maintenance costs on the ceramic brakes, but a Porsche mechanic I spoke with said I will never have do any maintenance as long as I own the car. He said unless you are tracking the car on a regular basis, those brakes will outlast the owner. When the new Turbo S ultimately arrives with the new electric boost drivetrain I’v been told it will shock the automotive world with its performance figures. It’s hard to believe they can make it better than the current version. Porsche is really hitting it out of the park with the 992 platform, can’t wait to see what comes next.

I own a boxster S right now, and it is a huge plus that it doesnt crazy stand out in a car park and so i dont have to stress about using it for road trips. I would love to see a video on what your experience has been with the Pista as a car for overnight road trips or longer. My current assumption is that most Ferraris Lambos and McLarens cannot be used for overnight road trips or longer because you cannot guarantee good parking situations and people not being arseholes. With a porsche, people seem to be more chill..
When driving through New Mexico I managed to do 2 tanks back to back at 500 miles in my 991 Turbo S (hitting 32mpg+ (US)). I don't expect 992 to be much worse. 32 mph in a 10s car is unheard of?

I am actually really pleased to hear you saying your are not bored of this car and it is more all the contrary. When somebody has to possibility to drive and own as many cars as you it might be quite easy to get bored. This car is fantastic, it looks fantastic, is sounds fantastic, and it's as you say an all runner. You can drive it anywhere at any moment of the year, a thing that you can't do with the Pista indeed. And to all people thinking it is just another 911... so what ? Yes it is and that's why we love it. From all your garage this one is in my top 3. Congrats ! Hope she will stay in your garage for a while !
The great thing about the porsche is that it is the ultimate driver's car. It is nothing to be pretentious about or be obnoxious. It just runs and performs exceptionally. The only benefit of the pista is bragging rights and showing off money. But the Porsche makes sense to be driven and to be enjoyed to its fullest.
Ultimate driver’s car? Not a 911. Definitely not a turbo s. The Ultimate driver’s car would be mid engined, rear-wheel drive, naturally aspirated and preferably with a manual gearbox. Which means its the Porsche 718!
Beautiful car regarding the exhaust in sport or sport plus mode the exhaust in sport mode gargles more for show of mode sport plus not much gargling it’s for when you mean business and going really quickly , I ask the question at Porsche when I had a 718s 👍
I have always loved the 911 Turbo S, for the same reasons I like the M5 and M3 quick and usable (especially if you get the BMWs 2 years old and don't have to take that first depreciation hit). I have a 50 mile commute to work one way, so I want something I enjoy driving but also can take all the miles I will put on it. Turbo S for the win for sure, you beat all your lambo friends in a race and then get to laugh at them when they get stuck in a driveway lol
I concur with your views that the Porsche Turbo S has real advantages over a Pista. Thinking of reliability, residual value especially with more miles on odometer, everyday usability with less stress from road hazards, envious people, etc.
Burbles in Sport mode disrupt the gas flow in the exhaust the knock on is reduced turbo response when coming back on the throttle. That's why in sport plus it stops. S-Plus is all about maximum progress, not show. :)

Totally spot on overhaul review Tom,. I had a 991.2 4s, the sport mode does give you more pops and crackles then the sport + mode agreed !!! A nice little touch I think from the Porsche design team!

What a pleasant review to watch on the new 992 Turbo S. No offense when I say this but I was hoping this was not going to be a bashing of the Turbo S and possibly sound like someone was acting like a 200K car was below them. I have to agree, and I smiled, as you rattled off all of your points on the overall advantages of owning the new 911 Turbo S. My friend has had several F and P cars, which I have been lucky enough to have driven and spend time in. Our opinion is we love the styling and sound from the F cars. However I am not a flashy person and for many reasons, several of which you made here, the 911 Turbo S is the perfect all around sports car, and for my use the ultimate Daily Driver. I see myself in a year from now trading my 991 Turbo S for the new 992. Thanks again for the great laid back review! And let me add after reading several reviews from car journalist, Porsche has made a big attempt to tie some of the GT DNA into this car...

Very honest opinion and I totally agree, owning a Porsche is like women coming up to you "yeah, my boyfriend has a Porsche" meanwhile it's a '98 Boxster....they are an everyday supercar, Clark Kent if you will...same as Superman but without all the flash. Awesome car, best for the money, really can't be beat, it's the C8 Corvette (which I have) of it's segment. One day I will have a 992 turbo S in my garage.

Ive been saying exactly what you have about how Porsche makes other cars seem like a waste of time. I had a 2004 Gallardo & a 2006 Carrera S which was chipped to 480 so very similar power but it was faster, better handling ,MUCH more comfortable and definitely twice as good on fuel. Like you when it came to grabbing one it was 90% of the time I would choose the Porka!
I've owned a 996 Turbo S which was an awesome car so I can relate to your feelings about the 992 Turbo S albeit in a completely different league than the 996 Turbo S. I'll likely have one of these once they enter the used car market and the wife gives a thumbs up.
I follow a few car guys like you, Mr JWW and SOL, but don't really comment much. Just wanted to say that was a great video and you came across really well. Beautiful car too 👍
I think a lot of people make the mistake of comparing this to track cars or supercars that were designed from the ground up to deliver maximum emotion and excitement. This is just a 911, with the insane performance that can beat even a few hypercars. It was never meant to be a loud, super rough riding car that turns heads everywhere it goes.
Another great and honest car review Tom. Look forward to more videos of the car, maybe some passing shots etc think the stance of the car amazing and great car under the radar like you say, it's not "come see me" like a pista or other cars.
Interesting that Porsche has the key on the right for the 992 UK models...has it always been like that in the UK? I own a 2019 GT2 RS in America and it is still left hand key start.

Got my turbo s recently ! Watched Tom’s and Harry’s videos over and over before i collected it! Great car , well chuffed.

Totally spot on overhaul review Tom,. I had a 991.2 4s, the sport mode does give you more pops and crackles then the sport + mode agreed !!! A nice little touch I think from the Porsche design team!

Showing real testament to the 992 if ikeas getting shifted for it to make room. Still would have both but see the appeal for sure. Back seats absolute bonus would love to do the school run in that if you remember that’s what your meant to be doing lol nice work

What a pleasant review to watch on the new 992 Turbo S. No offense when I say this but I was hoping this was not going to be a bashing of the Turbo S and possibly sound like someone was acting like a 200K car was below them. I have to agree, and I smiled, as you rattled off all of your points on the overall advantages of owning the new 911 Turbo S. My friend has had several F and P cars, which I have been lucky enough to have driven and spend time in. Our opinion is we love the styling and sound from the F cars. However I am not a flashy person and for many reasons, several of which you made here, the 911 Turbo S is the perfect all around sports car, and for my use the ultimate Daily Driver. I see myself in a year from now trading my 991 Turbo S for the new 992. Thanks again for the great laid back review! And let me add after reading several reviews from car journalist, Porsche has made a big attempt to tie some of the GT DNA into this car...

Very honest opinion and I totally agree, owning a Porsche is like women coming up to you "yeah, my boyfriend has a Porsche" meanwhile it's a '98 Boxster....they are an everyday supercar, Clark Kent if you will...same as Superman but without all the flash. Awesome car, best for the money, really can't be beat, it's the C8 Corvette (which I have) of it's segment. One day I will have a 992 turbo S in my garage.

Ive been saying exactly what you have about how Porsche makes other cars seem like a waste of time. I had a 2004 Gallardo & a 2006 Carrera S which was chipped to 480 so very similar power but it was faster, better handling ,MUCH more comfortable and definitely twice as good on fuel. Like you when it came to grabbing one it was 90% of the time I would choose the Porka!

I've owned a 996 Turbo S which was an awesome car so I can relate to your feelings about the 992 Turbo S albeit in a completely different league than the 996 Turbo S. I'll likely have one of these once they enter the used car market and the wife gives a thumbs up.

Wouldn’t bother with the mclaren. 2 less seats an unreliable as hell. Also needs to be kept on trickle ideally. Turbo s doesn’t tbh

The jolt is the anti lag, which previous models also didnt have. Also why you get pops on the upshift

All it needs is a Kline inconel exhaust, decat or 200 cell cats and equal length headers. Sounds great.
And you then loose the Porsche 3 year warranty 🤬

I think a lot of people make the mistake of comparing this to track cars or supercars that were designed from the ground up to deliver maximum emotion and excitement. This is just a 911, with the insane performance that can beat even a few hypercars. It was never meant to be a loud, super rough riding car that turns heads everywhere it goes.

Interesting that Porsche has the key on the right for the 992 UK models...has it always been like that in the UK? I own a 2019 GT2 RS in America and it is still left hand key start.
Agree best video by far no nonsense, disagree on car, bit dull and sanatized, great daily, but the fun is not there, it does in normal mode what sport and sports plus does just goes fast, world best all rounder, but for same money get a gt3 and a 991 for a daily
