A lot of talk about it being overpriced but currently not many for sale and many people who have enquired about buying one have been told 6-12+ months build time. Autotrader has 2 on currently 30k over list. Old 991.2 started around 150k optioned and are still holding around 110-120 after years. I would say a good choice if you can get an early slot and keep for a year ish. But for a similar price you can get second hand 720s/performante which may be more value for money??

I hope that you have no plans to date a German woman. They tend to find value in the design and performance of a machine rather than the pandering trendiness of it's shortsighted, foreign driver. Everyone loved the 458 better than the 488 because it sounded much better.
In this case, the 992 Turbo S actually sounds much better than the previous Turbo S’ because it’s the first time it’s had sport exhaust as an option.
It’s also better than the previous 991 in every other way including the staggered 20/21 wheel setup which you also forgot to mention.
The back end looks WAY better also. Full disclosure though…..I have a 992 Turbo S on order and just sold my 991. Still don’t see how someone could see it any other way. :-)

I want to be happy it will start in the morning and something that is gun and comfortable. Live with one for a year and do some proper trips and you will find it difficult to find a successor ! My new one arrives in sept ! And it’s a convertible ! More important you don’t have to beg and jump hoops to buy this model from the dealer. Noticed a slight mistake in the video where you said that the Turbo is as wide as the regular Carreras now. It is true that the 992 Carreras now have a wider rear track regardless if they’re RWD or AWD but the new turbo models actually have a slightly even wider rear track at that then the Carreras. All makes sense Sam. Not wierd. It is because the fun that results from a mechanical, connected and unique experience is being dialled out of all cars as a result of regulations, digitalisation and trying to appeal to a mass market. These are common factors in 992 vs 991 and 488 vs 458 and more.
The good news is that many people like easier and faster cars and have the money, which helps depreciation. So, for those of us who prefer the previous gen they will become more affordable. At least, until they are classics...
    Keep safe.

As a former Porsche employee, I applaud your enthusiasm and real understanding of the nature of Porsche compared to other manufacturers. We live and breath the heritage rest of our lives even I don't work for the company anymore. Every morning at 9:11 o'clock I salute towards the Stuttgart (not really).

I think the argument begins to be "design" or "performance" based. I, too, prefer the 991, Sam. It's not like the improvements are humongous leaps and bounds from a day-to-day driving perspective. Could you do launch control all day? Sure. But no one will. ;). Great video

I have to say I agree. I like the « analogness » of my 991.2 more, even if it is a pdk. The 992 looks big and all the screens... the 991 was the perfect compromise between the roughness of the 997 and modern comfort. I might still change my mind with the 992.2 but for now, not a huge fan.

Great blue exterior and love the color matched top, also the wheel color is very nice...of course the 911TurboS is still a beast and better than the other exotic car brands named early on in the video.

Sam, that was bloody amazing! Love the delivery of the content, was really engaging and entertaining. That was a great overall, real life review. The interior and exterior shots (especially of the spoiler retracting) were superb. I've never liked Porsche, but this Turbo S looks great. Given it a thumbs up and waiting for plenty more videos to come

I don’t see why Porsche are so reluctant to make a hybrid 911. It can add performance and would be a great fit for a cruiser / compact GT.

Hey Sam, your main cam in this video is the GH5 right? What resolution are you filming in? I'd just suggest trying out the High Resolution Anamorphic Mode, aka 6K 4:3, 4992x3744, HEVC, 200Mbps.... it would give you a slightly wider angle and when you punch in, you'd have much more space to do so. Really like this new in car angle, it now really feels like you're the passenger. Oh and also the car is great!

Samuel! Need I remind you that you are British. You need to drive a proper British motor. May I suggest Jaguar, Aston Martin, Bentley, or...
Shape up young man. Do it for Queen, and Country.
I will expect a big change with you very soon.
I know, I know. I have no room to talk. I am American, and drive ONLY Jaguar. I do aspire to Bentley though.
Seriously though. When people dream of cars they REALLY don't give enough respect to the British marques.
On behalf of America, I will say thank you for some brilliant examples of luxury, and refinement!
    A British car fan.

I love hearing car TH-camrs complain about the price of cars. 170K IS A STEAL!
The absolute base model of this car costs 531.000 GBP in Denmark (4.456.225 DKK - price on Porsche.dk website)
    BTW, awesome video!

Another superb vid Sam. Maybe it's the lack occasion; i.e. yes it's ballistic but otherwise soulless?!?!? Possibly lacks the drama a Ferrari 360 / 430 / 458 gives at any speed (not just hard acceleration). Also, at circa £60k more than a 'cooking' 992, it's no longer the value for money super-car it once was. Sure, it will sell, and as you say, they are renowned for being bulletproof and can be used daily without a second thought, but once the time-warp acceleration has lost its allure, what's left to get the adrenaline flowing.......

I completely understand where you are coming from with the 991 and 992.
Will be buying an SVO Defender 110 but will always keep my 1998 D90.
992 reminds me of a Bentley Continental.
I would pick the 2020 Continental over the 992.

The Turbo S is for introverts. We want to go unnoticed. That doesn't mean that we don't want to go fast. But we do do for our own satisfaction, not to get reaction from anyone else. The quieter the car, the better.
Eg. I drive a Toyota Blade Master: factory 276bhp 3.5 V6 in a Corolla / Auris body. Cost me about £4,000-equivalent. Love it.

agree completely.. I'm a 991.2 C2S owner and I've driven two 992 S variants, coupe and convertible and they feel completely underwhelming compared to my own car which now feels "old skool" compared with a 992. My father has a 991.2 Cab C2S and feels exactly the same. 992 is too polished and lacks a rawness people thought was gone in the 991...

God this is a million years behind a McLaren 720S spider. McLaren = Proper SUPERcar Porsche = Decent but expensive SPORTS car. TBH rather have an entry model McLaren 570S Spider or a used 720S

I don't think the 458/488 analogy quite works in this context - I would imagine anybody pining for the 458 over the 488 is doing so because of the naturally aspirated engine sound versus the turbo charged engine, whereas your generation 991 and the new 992 are both turbo charged engines which have already lost a bit of the character of the NA flat six engine from the 991.1. Then again, there's no denying this is a heftier car than the 991.2, and the cabriolet simply adds to the feeling that it's just a bit of a chunker. I imagine everybody will go mad for the GT products and whatever Carrera T equivalent Porsche put out when this generation is on its last legs. Having owned both 991.2 and 992 Carrera S models, I personally prefer the 992 in pretty much every way, with the possible exception of the slightly odd gear selector and the fact that so many of the drive settings are now buried in menus in the infotainment system.

Very nice video. I guess I just don't get it. I've been a car guy for 30+ years and I'd have an F8>488>458 and easily a 992>991>996. I dunno, maybe that's just me.... Anyway, absolutely love this thing!
