The Patricia Healy in this video is not Engelberts wife. They share the same name but are not the same person. All the movie database sites credit Engelberts wife as the girl in the film but its not her. They really need to alter their listings!!
Am I the only one in the world who noticed that in this video when the woman packs up from work to leave there is a woman hanging from the ceiling. You see her shoes, legs and skirt. This has been one of my favorite songs for over 35 years, but the hanging lady in this video is totally freaking me out, especially cuz I don't know if anyone else is seeing it but me.
@@themanfromvolantis the really, really weird thing I remembered after posting is that Ian (Joy Division - New Order with Ian as singer of course ) killed himself by hanging!!!
i believe this is a film and not actually what they used for the music. Completely disturbing tho lol, it’s just a girl admiring everything outside but when she has to work, she yknow
Actually there was a film called 24-hour Party People about the industrial revolution. The soundtrack included this song, song from Joy Division. New Order reformed included many dark songs before they turn to techno pop like I saw them and Minneapolis. Thanks for bringing up the movie though. I've never seen that and I'm wondering if I can find it on Google.
It's a very melancholy tune. Yeah, there's something about it that reminds me of being in my own little world as a kid, although I don't know why - I was 19 when it came out. There's definitely some kind of trigger in the riff or the words that seems to affect a lot of us in a similar way.
On a thousand islands in the sea I see a thousand people just like me A hundred unions in the snow I watch them walking, falling in a row We live always underground It's going to be so quiet in here tonight A thousand islands in the sea It's a shame And a hundred years ago A sailor trod this ground I stood upon Take me away everyone When it hurts thou From my head to my toes, from the words in the book I see a vision that would bring me luck From my head to my toes, to my teeth, through my nose You get these words wrong You get these words wrong… Everytime You get these words wrong I just smile But from my head to my toes, from my knees to my eyes Everytime I watch the sky For these last few days leave me alone But for these last few days leave me alone Leave me alone, leave me alone
What a brilliant idea to combine this 1967 film with one of the most melancholic songs ever! Perhaps Bernard, Peter, Stephen, Ian or even Gillian are to be seen in this film as children, which was shot in Manchester. Who knows... At the end (in my opinion) the best song ever written - within my life - and sometimes it makes me cry some tears.
I have watched this video/song 20 times maybe, everything is thought provoking. It is reflective of society, mood, the future, the past, and what’s to come. Thank you
Temon ! Para una mañana Gris en lima con la garua acariciando el rostro y pensando en los años pasados ! Con saudade como dicen los hermanos Brasileros amo este tema desde siempre ♾️ !!
October now into winter and I can listen to joy division and new order and my favorite music again and try to feel ok again. Great video for a great song
I like to say that this song and "Guilty Partner" were everything Joy Division wanted to be, but never quite was. But, the Joy Division fanboys don't like when I say that lol.
When I saw Peter hook doing both joy division albums in 2022 he opened the new order set with this. As soon as that first note hit I knew exactly what he was playing, I just screamed holy shit he's opening with this, wow!!!! I am so excited to see him again doing both substance albums. 3:13
One couldn’t choose a more appropriate movie’s extract than Lindsay Anderson’s White Bus (1967): black and white (Anton Corbijn and Kevin Cummins), Manchester (although the city is unnamed in White Bus), a discreet and silent beautiful young woman (as Ian Curtis appeared to be) who fantasizes about hanging herself. Disturbing. and what a track: one of the most sensitive-empowering and simply beautiful New Order’s masterpiece.
Possibly my favourite NO song (followed by Lonesome Tonight)...that melancholy melody...always puts me in a reflective mood when I listen to this....definitely NOT a NYE tune! LOL
So many genius New Order songs how can you choose a favorite? But this is my favorite…
Absolutely love it
Yes. How can you, but this one. 😍
My fav❤
It always comes down to this one!
The main actress in this is Patricia Healey (who was Engelbert Humperdinck's Wife) sadly passed away on 7.2.21 at 85.
That's sad to hear. Rest in peace, Patricia.
Actually this Patricia Healey wasn’t his wife. She and Humperdinck’s wife share the same name but they’re 2 different people.
Ah terrible. another person i never knew died. what a suprise. Is this the moment when I need to fake empathy?
The Patricia Healy in this video is not Engelberts wife. They share the same name but are not the same person. All the movie database sites credit Engelberts wife as the girl in the film but its not her. They really need to alter their listings!!
She is/was hauntingly beautiful
Whoever put this song and video together is a genius. Thank you.
Yeah, they go together so well.

@@elhooligan9284 huh? Do you not know anything about Joy Division and New Order? Not to be rude or anything.

This number was played for the first time 11-4-1982 (Musiccenter Vredenburg Utrecht Holland) i was there!
Beautiful song, so melancholy. I feel that way out sometimes and this song does help bring the emotion out, along with a few other meaningful tracks
I dont know why but this is so powerful I cry .
why ?.
Phil Sleddenhouston 💜
It’s a moving song and this footage was great with it.
It's very basic. Even those of us who love life and people need solitude - and it's not easy to find.
It's a very melancholy tune. Yeah, there's something about it that reminds me of being in my own little world as a kid, although I don't know why - I was 19 when it came out.

Best N.O. album.
Always felt like this was their last goodbye to Ian. Excellent video too.
On a thousand islands in the sea
I see a thousand people just like me
A hundred unions in the snow
I watch them walking, falling in a row
We live always underground
It's going to be so quiet in here tonight
A thousand islands in the sea
It's a shame
And a hundred years ago
A sailor trod this ground I stood upon
Take me away everyone
When it hurts thou
From my head to my toes, from the words in the book
I see a vision that would bring me luck
From my head to my toes, to my teeth, through my nose
You get these words wrong
You get these words wrong…
Everytime
You get these words wrong
I just smile
But from my head to my toes, from my knees to my eyes
Everytime I watch the sky
For these last few days leave me alone
But for these last few days leave me alone
Leave me alone, leave me alone
Perfect
Peter hook says this is his all time favourite NO song.
Just started listening to this song on vinyl again. This song cuts through deep cuts and pains of life.
I only have technique pressed to plastic

@@ZambeziKid why not? They would have been 10 or 11 or so....who knows what random kids were running around?
That´s what I meant. The year and the city fit - an admittedly very romantic idea... for all who watch this video. @@rawintwNIOUx2

This is how a New Order music video should look like. Not like those new ones that they are making nowadays for such great songs.
This is my favourite song, it has been since the first time I heard it.
Brilliant . Timeless song . Captures exactly what I'm feeling right now .
This should be the official video for this song.
Dude, thanks to you i found the music genre I like and represents me the most, thanks from the bottom of my heart
Good for you pal, thats sick!
no worries! that's really nice to hear :)
New wave is the best wave.
Awesome man! Which other bands have you discovered through New Order?
masterpiece of a song

Gorgeous song
Every time I listen to this song...every time...and I was 16 when this song came out... every time...

Brings back memories. I have loved this song since I was 10. Thanks for this video 📷
Hi, you’ll probably never see this but thanks for making a really emotional video for one of my favourite NO songs. Genuinely, I needed this
The best of new order ❤
always brings me to tears
this is too good i swear to god
My girlfriend at the time had the album and I remember playing this on my bedroom record player a long long time ago.
Such wizardly editing and poetic clarity. Vintage New Order still stands up on iron legs.
October now into winter and I can listen to joy division and new order and my favorite music again and try to feel ok again. Great video for a great song
When I look into the future I see myself 95 years old, sitting in the rocking chair, the cane by my side, and listening to New Order and Joy Division
I will be. And The Cure.
95? New order are eternal as all great art. I suggest that you listen to the, best of New Order while you have the chance.
@@annandmartintravers5281 Hi, are you into Joy Division by any chance?
Exactly myself my friend.. God willing 🙏
I'll be telling those kids to Leave Me Alone...and get off my grass...unless they want to listen to NO with me
I ❤ this entire album. It's the lock screen on my phone.
Absolutely beautiful
From my favourite album
Bellissima e triste !
So beautiful, the song and the girl. That little smile.
“I just smile”

I always felt this song has a dash of Joy Division in it .
yeah, about 3 dashes.
Without a doubt

Beautiful and touching; thank you for sharing!
my favouritew music video of sll time
0:58 yo she was hanging!
One of the best songs of all time and the video is cool too
This video is great. My favorite New Order song mapped to an obscure old movie.
C est PARFAIT . MERCI MA SOLITUDE .
I think Arthur Lowe from Dads Army is in the video.....he is the mayor....
The human condition perfectly explained, from their best album. Synced with a classic English New Wave film, the result equals perfection.
Why this song makes me cry for no reason?
Amazing addition between image and song!!!
The movie footage is perfect for the song. Especially the suicidal girl.
stunning
Great song, masterpiece.
Make more of these please
working on it!
This is a great song...top 5.....
New Order, viajem pura, minha banda preferida, só lembranças boas da minha vida
This brings me so many feelings all at once
Lovelovelovelove this timeless song...🎤🎸🎶🥰 The soundtrack of my innocent youth / teenage years.👼🚴🤸
Das ist und wird immer sein, ein Brett...;))
This is one of my favorite New Order songs from my favorite NO album, “Power, Corruption, & Lies,” which has my favorite album cover art.

This song is completely stuck in my head lately for some reason...

There's something sublime about this classic NO song.
Outstanding x
Love This Song
Nobody saw the guy talking on his cell phone on a 1967 movie?? Look like Steve, the drummer. Good work!!
it wasnt a cell phone. watch the film. its a transistor radio. he's listening to a football match.
The video fit so much with the song for some reason. Good job
Great combination, very nice video, good job!!
So beautifully filmed. I must see this. Anyone know where I can find it? And the girl is stunning. And the song is wonderful of course.
Great album.
