I'm surprised that, with all of his crazy and potentially dangerous "inators," he doesn't try to kill them (and/or Roger). He could probably even get away with it, too. EDIT: before someone says "he's not a murderer," let me remind you that he sent some biker to get crushed to death by some alien baby just because he catcalled Vanessa. Also, Doofenshmirtz-2 (most likely) committed genocide while ruling his Tri-State Area. In short, Doof is perfectly capable of killing someone if he wants to.
@@red_five3325 A lot of what happened between him and Roger wasn't Roger's fault. I think he realizes that, though he's constantly trying to embarrass Roger and everything he never wished harm on him. I love how LEGITIMATELY concerned the nurse looks in the birth flashback. Like, they had to have just experienced some MAGICAL stuff to be holding baby Doof despite neither parent being there.
well, its actually implied like just with Poppeye the father and mother were so ashamed of their spawn that they abandoned it as soon as he born... which is... horrifying... (yes! Poppeye also was abandoned by its parents, and just like Doof was adopted but somehow Doof found them later but they took him apparently for a legal formality and obligation rather than love)
Doof is probably one of the most healthiest examples of a divorced father in tv. Him being evil isn’t a result of the divorce, but rather bad child hood and he doesn’t enforce that on Vanessa. Despite being divorced, he still is shown to have a great relationship with his ex wife and treats Vanessa the same way. Most shows would have him be evil because he divorced or have him be a deadbeat but he is still friendly with his ex and even goes to great lengths to help Vanessa

My favorite bit is when Doof realized that Vanessa and her friends were gonna get swarmed by bees so he straight-up poured honey on himself, lured the bees away and jumped into a lake. Even did the corny, "YOU LEAVE MY BABY GIRL ALONE!" warcry.
A good hero to go with the villain is just as good Like in fairy tail the villain zeref was related to the "hero" (he's more complex than a hero tho) natsu and both their motives made sense. HE WAS ALSO RELATED TO THE WHOLE OF FAIRY TAIL BESIDES NATSU...that level of complexity is non existent in any media Zeref is a really complex and well written villain
Vanessa not giving up the doll her father gave her to another child who wants it isn't villainy by any means. It's not even morally wrong. The doll is really important to Vanessa because her father spent 10 years searching for it and never stopped looking. It's a symbol of how much he loves her. To the little girl, it's just another toy. Vanessa has sentimental value attached to that doll and the little girl needs to learn that sometimes you don't get the things you want and someone else has a right to their own stuff, even if you want it. The girl would probably give the doll away or forget about it in a box when she got to Vanessa's age. Vanessa is going to have that doll for the rest of her life because it's a testament to how dedicated her father is. When he passes away, it'll be a memento of him. It's wrong to expect Vanessa to give something like that up because it means so much to her.
Nope, it’s still morally wrong. It’s just because it’s a cartoon that makes it look like it’s fine, because it’s a depiction. In reality there would be brawl between a genius protective dad, and a pissed off protective dad
@@bearded18yearold It is not morally wrong. Even if it was real life it would be totally okay to take the doll back. I myself would snatch it back even if it made the kid cry. Vanessa was entitled to the doll, her dad spent years looking for it so it has sentimental value, and also just the fact that it's hers, not that little girl's. I don't know how on earth you can think it's morally wrong to *checks notes* not give away your stuff just because some little kid wants it
Dr. Doofenshmirtz is actually a good dad considering he had a terrible childhood where his parents cared very little about him. He cares about Vanessa when his own parents didn’t.
He didn't wanted to make the same mistake again idk why its such a big deal? A lot of people dont follow their abusive parents footsteps and decide to end the cycle by raising their children the complete different way or not have any at all.
To be fair. His first dimension self isn’t a monster. The one from the 2nd dimension however is another story. I do not like 2nd dimension doofensmirtz. He’s vile!
Though had abusive parents, depressing childhood, lost his favorite balloon, was raised by ocelots, overshadowed by his brother, replaced by a dog, neglected by his parents, his parents left him at his birth, divorced, and dumped, he still is a great dad, smart as hell without education, and protectes his daughter, he's the first cartoon chad in history alright
Doofenshmirtz became the father that his own father could never be. He easily could have let his childhood turn him into someone who mistreats his own child but he didn’t. And on top of all that he still tries to be a loving dad despite the fact that he’s “evil”. What a legend.
Same and in a weird way they feel relatable. I am also pretty sure that Doof is suffering both from a quite severe depression and PTSD that he never really dealt with propperly in his adult life.

Has anybody noticed that the supposed "crazy" or "evil" dads in cartoons tend to be really good parents. Ice King is only well Ice King because he had to wear the crown to protect a sick young Marceline. Also he lost Betty but didn't show his grief to Marceline as he knew she doesn't need that. Those two are relatively harmless cause in the episodes they capture the heroes, they don't exactly kill them. Doof often talking to Perry causally and occasionally asking for help and Ice King reading a fan fic story to them while they were in ice (might have done other things, it's been forever since I've seen it)
And (credit to… someone a few comments down) Gru in Despicable Me. His mother was passive-aggressive and deprecative, which made him obsess over the one thing she most-heavily doubted him on: the moon. She told him he wouldn’t get there, because “NASA isn’t sending the monkeys, anymore,” and only replied with an “Eh” to his working model-rocket. His desperation for his mother’s approval is pretty much what got him to steal the moon. Sorry for the wall of text, but I never really thought about that until now. Took me… *looks up release date of Despicable Me* twelve years to figure it out. Better late than never, I guess.
Yeah for a guy who isn’t too smart, he was surprisingly knowledgeable about what his daughters needs and wants were. He deserves a fathers day episode on the show lmfao
Dudes like watch milo Murphy’s law doof literally made time travel (even though phineas and ferb did it first) so I’m pretty sure doof is pretty smart. Just wanted to point that out.
I really like the representation of divorcement between doofenshmirtz and his ex wife. Its kind of a trope to make divorce families break up over a fight about something. But in this show it's because both partners kind of slowly lost interest in each other, which is totally normal to happen. They both get along great, but just not as husband and wife.
Well that and Disney has a penchant for focusing mostly on single parent households. Mostly with dads. Moms are usually but not always non- existent or evil. The few I can think of that are the exceptions are Sleeping Beauty, Brave, Lilo and Stitch, this show and Tarzan

Another awesome thing is that if his daughter ever gets bullied, then her father will always save the day by blasting bullies/criminals into another dimension.
I really love how none of his backstories are about his exes. He could have framed the Linda Date as a reason to hate pop stars or hate drive in movies, but its just the origin of realizing his long term goals in America. His ex wife could have been a whole sub plot of Doof trying to trap vanessa and use her as a pawn against his ex wife, but instead SHE pays HIM alimony payments every month and neither ever speak ill of the other. Although Doofenshmirtz did technically murder that guy, his inator wasn't lethal. He just zapped that biker to another dimension, where some giant alien baby crushed him to death with a hammer. Regardless, I'd like to see Doof race Bryan Mills to get their respective daughters back from kidnappers.

"I am going to convince you why doofenshmirtz is the best dad" You can't convince me of something i already knew. Dude went above and beyond for his daughter and had a semi decent relationship with his ex wife wish we had seen aa bit more on the why they divorced but at least we got a kick ass duet in the alternate universe.
The general idea most fans have is, since they’re hardly alike, and, like Charlene says, they didn’t have a lot in common and wanted different things, the two must have sort of rushed into their relationship a bit when they were younger. After all, they aren’t good complements to each other. Even in the second dimension, the duet they sing mentions how different they are, how they “don’t agree on restaurants or where to holiday” and “we spend such little time together conversation’s never forced” (implying that it _was_ forced when they spent a lot of time together, they didn’t usually have much to talk about), giving you the idea that their relationship is easier when they’re apart. And heck, in the normal dimension, the last straw leading to their divorce was a puppet Doof got that Charlene couldn’t stand. So maybe they rushed into the relationship and marriage because they were young and really wanted a happy ending, even if they barely got along. And since Doofenschmirtz had such a sad love life before he met Charlene, he just wanted to believe that _this_ one would work out and be his happily ever after, because _she_ didn’t leave after the first date or dump him for a whale or something. So since it wasn’t _so_ bad that they were treating each other terribly, they hoped their differences would just work themselves out eventually. I don’t know how exactly Charlene felt about the situation, but she probably held on for the same reasons, wanting it to all work out... until it hadn’t, for a long time, and she had to put her foot down.
@@lexsunsh1ne Yes that is what I was talking about, I never watched the series though, I don't know if he just makes one apperance or if he is more or less part of the main "cast".

Well...personally I see him as a bad parent, but I haven't expressed my views on the internet public before this comment and I've never seen anyone else thinking of him as that either. So you're right
I think what’s also pretty satisfying about him giving Vanessa the doll is that, in one of his flashbacks, he used all his money to win his mother a teddy bear from a claw machine only for her to imminently give it to his brother without even a thank you. Seeing Vanessa appreciative of the hard work he went into finding it is pretty heartfelt when you think of that backstory.
I think he thought that he should be a villain due to what he went thru. So I guess he thinks that he should be angry at the world but in reality he doesn't and that's not who he truly is.
They say a person is made by there surroundings. That is doofenshmirts as a child he had horrible surroundings that led him to villiany but over time despite his villiany he became surrounded by good people Perry, his daughter, his ex wife etc until eventually he changed due to his surroundings again and became a good guy. Doofenshmirts story in my opinion is a story about how nobody is born evil or good and it eventually morphs into something overtime and just because someone is morphed into evil doesn't mean that in the end become good or the other way around. In the end doofenshmirts is a story of redemption.
Very true. Despite all the jokes made at his backstories, I really felt bad for him. His parents abandoned him, and when his family finally took him back in, they made him a slave, and made him feel like he would never be like his brother.

Something I saw brought up somewhere about Doof is that a key clue to him not actually being evil comes from instances where he teams up with other villains, much of the time ultimately either they grow tired of his antics, he find himself disturbed by the extent of their villainy and often ends up working with the good guys to stop them or a mix of both. This is because he was never truly evil, and when he encounters it he is naturally repulsed.

I just realized, the only reason that Doof wanted to take over the Tri-State Area, was because Linda said that he might be able to on their date. And because this was the only bit of positive reinforcement he had ever received in his life, he tried to.
“No, that’s true. I am an idiot.” No, it isn’t. Heinz Doofenshmirtz was one of the best, most hard working, best developing, loving and kind character in the whole series. They are the best frenemies I have ever seen. Over the years, they got rid of their rivalry, and like became the best of friends. I honestly don’t think your an idiot!
The reason Doof is the best is because he doesn’t hold grudges against people forever- well except Roger- but like Perry- every time Perry defeats Doof at the end of each episode- by the next day, he’s over it and also doesn’t hold grudges against his parents 99%- and having a healthy relationship with his daughter also makes him wholesome- Lastly he doesn’t hold grudges against his ex’s which is big- Ya know, I think just having Perry and Vanessa there made a difference in his life since they were THERE for him while when he was a child no one was there for him-
I love how doof had a really different effect from other characters, while characters like BoJack parents, Homer, etc who had bad parents and became bad, Doof actually seems to understand the pain of having cruel parents and tries to give Vanessa the best life that she could have.

Doof is probably one of the most healthiest examples of a divorced father in tv. Him being evil isn’t a result of the divorce, but rather bad child hood and he doesn’t enforce that on Vanessa.

Creeps: exist
Doof: so you have chosen death.
XD Damn it, now I'm hearing Daddy Doof
I think what’s also pretty satisfying about him giving Vanessa the doll is that, in one of his flashbacks, he used all his money to win his mother a teddy bear from a claw machine only for her to imminently give it to his brother without even a thank you.
Seeing Vanessa appreciative of the hard work he went into finding it is pretty heartfelt when you think of that backstory.
Never even connected those dots! Very true!! And very wholesome of Doof 😁
Doofeschmirts is just the most wholesome cartoon character ever he’s like if a good willed person wanted to be a villain
Second most wholesome. Uncle Iroh exists.
I am the most wholesome I never take second place
Doof is a legend his the first Disney villain I wanted to win whenever he tells his backstory feel like crying it's sad he didnt get with that love of his life
Correction : Doof and Charlene only PRETEND to be divorced. The reasons are many and convoluted but brilliant! 😁
@@tinaperez7393 WYM I don't believe that theory but my interest is peaked what's the evidence. Because if it's that there friendly it's already stated in Phineas and Ferb that the reason is that they just wanted to do other things and those things couldn't happen with them together so the reason there friendly is that there friends now. Maybe best friends. We hear so many messy divorce stories that we forget that the majority are caused by both parties wanting different things. But I would like to hear your evidence maybe a link to a vid or something.
He ended up getting a family in Milo Murphy's Law
The fact that he kept Norm for the rest of the series even after Norm failed to do what he was built for, and allowed him to just think of Doof as his own father, was also one of the things he did to give him more points as the best cartoon dad ever.

Im currently writing a fic. And at some point doof joins my villain protagonist group. But I plan it where there are little hints that Doof isn't as onboard with the main group's more evil actions over the course of the story

His not a bad person for being a Evil Scientist. Actually, thats just his job.

He saved and took care of a kitten. He took care of his daughter, tried to give her the best childhood, so that she didn’t turn out like him, let her work for his rivalling company, let her DATE the son of his rival and also have you EVER seen any Perry and Heinz moments? They are the best frenemies I have ever seen. Over the years, they got rid of their rivalry, and like became the best of friends. I honestly don’t think your an idiot!
wow- I-
Doof and perry made the definition of frenemies
A grown man can only tear up this much. :')
I'm reading this just as that part came on
The reason Doof is the best is because he doesn’t hold grudges against people forever- well except Roger- but like Perry- every time Perry defeats Doof at the end of each episode- by the next day, he’s over it and also doesn’t hold grudges against his parents 99%- and having a healthy relationship with his daughter also makes him wholesome- Lastly he doesn’t hold grudges against his ex’s which is big-
Ya know, I think just having Perry and Vanessa there made a difference in his life since they were THERE for him while when he was a child no one was there for him-
I love how doof had a really different effect from other characters, while characters like BoJack parents, Homer, etc who had bad parents and became bad, Doof actually seems to understand the pain of having cruel parents and tries to give Vanessa the best life that she could have.
Also Dr. Venture from Venture Bros. But although he's trying, his child-raising skills is not as good as Heinz.
